Empty a runebook - forever??

Hey all -

I wonder if anyone else can test this just to make sure it isn't something with my setup. This isn't exactly an amazing bug since the implications are minor but it is pretty cool and, honestly, this is probably the first bug I've stumbled across myself in the last ten years!

I have a Razor macro "Empty Runebook" which simply opens a runebook and drops run 1. I then loop it and I can empty a runebook in 16 or less seconds (1 rune per second or slightly less).

This morning when running it I noticed that my Fel-marked runes all got reset to "unused". I was ticked because this meant running around and marking more runes to my mining spots. That's when I also noticed I had more than 16 runes in my pack. I started my macro again and it kept going! I ended up selling about 1000 blank runes to the mage shop. I tested this against two different books made by two different people, one very recently so I know it wasn't one of the old "bugged" runebooks from years ago.

Rate is too slow to be a worthwhile gold farming exploit but I suppose even roughly 20k per hour just standing there is better than nothing.

Can anyone else duplicate with Razor? UOA? EUO? I'm heading to play some hoops.

Actually - this is a well know bug (now). It works for UOA or razor.

This was my post for Elites years ago

Maybe this is known but i ran into a bug today when i was playing with Mwinc's Lumberjacker Script.

I Was having a problem with the script stopping so i thought i'd start all over and remark the 16 runes. Well its a pain to drop 16 runes from a runebook, so i recorded a UO Assist Macro to
Use Item (the runebook)
menu selection  (drop rune in position number one in book)
Pause 1000

so i put the macro on a loop started it and At that moment my wife called me for a honey do.

When i came back my backpack was filled with 118 runes and only the message that my backpack was full stopped me from dropping hundreds of runes. The funny part is they are unmarked, What an interesting dupe.

I'm contemplating putting this out for the public section. I've had 2 people report it to me recently.  What are your thoughts?

This bug is now approved for all audiences. Perhaps some enterprising scripter will choose to make a gold creation script from this...

Either I'm not understanding, or this no longer works.

I have a filled runebook.
I have coded UOA as described by Gimlet to open the book and remove the rune from position #1

It just empties the runebook.  The runes dropped from the book are not unmarked, as he described.

What am I doing wrong?

it appears to have been fixed in the most recent patch before reaching public.  Oh well. Thread locked.
