I've ranted on this before.... English is the hardest language to teach.
We have words that sound alike but are spelled differently: Feet, Feat
We have words that are spelled the same but pronounced differently: Bass (the fish), Bass (the deep sound)
We have words that have over a dozen meanins: Set, Charge
We have to hear the words to understand the meaning.....
I didn't say Bill took the money: I didn't say it, someone else did.
I didn't say Bill took the money: I didn't say it, implied it maybe.
I didn't say Bill took the money: Someone took it, maybe not Bill.
I didn't say Bill took the money: He got it somehow.
I didn't say Bill took the money: He took something, maybe not the money.
Seven words, five completely different meanings.
