Tv's?

I'm in the process of getting a new TV and would like to poll the forum to see what other people are using.  I am replacing a older rear projection 59" Toshiba with some similar sized plasma or LED/LCD unit.  I've been looking at the samsung or panasonic units.  I'd like to get something mid-range which does a good job at playing black colors as my older unit is having issues doing such lately.

Any ideas in the $1,500 -2K range?
Nope!  I'm doing what all the real PvPers do:  Scripting everything except the running away part!  I'm real good at that already...

For LCD displays, you can't beat Samsung flat panels.  They're technology is simply lightyears ahead of the competition.

I have a 47" Samsung, backlit LED. True backlighting was a big deal when I bought it as it gives a crisper picture with darker darks (no bleeding like an edge-lit).

I love the TV but it's already a couple years old. Looking into a larger one or a projector for my new HT space in the basement.
