General UO Chat / Re: Favorite UO Newbie Moment
« on: July 14, 2010, 06:00:30 PM »
Started going champs the first week I was in Ultima. I don't know how but some guild picked me up. I had no idea what I was doing. I was using KR client and I remember killing someone in my guild with my white wyrm. They yelled at me for about 30 minutes. lol

Off Topic / Re: ATI or nVIDIA?

For price/performance... ATI.  Their new crop of cards are pretty great.  I've only had the opportunity to mess with a 4850 and a 5670 1gig.  But both cards are VERY solid performers.  The 4850 is CHEAP now but runs very hot.  The 5670 is SO quiet, and runs VERY cool.  I just built a system with a 5670, and it makes me want to check out the 5900 series for my own system. :)  I guess there's a 5970 coming out dubbed "Hemlock" with a dual GPU solution or something?  I think every generation of cards from both manufacturers has their plus' and minus'... you just have to weigh them. :)  I think ATI's new 5900 series is gonna smoke nvidia.  But I like ATI.  We'll see.  (Yes yes, their drivers have sucked for a while, but you gotta expect some headaches with any company mergers.) :)

Agreed.

General UO Chat / Re: Razor users...

No Razor has not been updated for SA. The last I heard the person who did the updating was no longer working on Razor. Basically they have one guy over there who thankfully updates razor to actually work with patch updates.

Bringing this one back! Yeah baby!

Just signed up for the Men's Health online personal trainer. It's 45 bucks every 3 months and gives you workout plans and diet plans.

So basically I'm not a big cooker so this program gives me weekly shopping lists, weekly meals (with recipes), and tells me how many calories I'm getting.

The workouts are pretty easy. Nothing to major.

Overall I'm hoping this program can help me get up to that 180-185ish mark.

I'll give some updates. I need to get some measurements done tonight as well as my 6 page grocery list for next 2 weeks.

One correction about the kindle specs jtw, it does have speakers and can even "read" the books to you.  I plug it into my car audio system when I drive to work so I can read and drive.

I only own the 6" kindle, and that's just $189.

Ah my bad! Yeah I always figured Kindles were for people that LOVED reading and Ipads were for people that wanted...well a giant ipod.

I always contemplated a kindle, but I guess maybe I'm too old fashioned...or cheap. One or the other. hehe

I think the obvious answer is Ipad.

Let's start with basic pricing:

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 9.7" Display: $379.00 (http://www.amazon.com/).

Ipad Middle Priced with Wi-Fi and 3G plus 32GB: $729.00 (www.apple.com)

Price differential: $350.00

Functions:

Kindle: Download Books, Newspapers, and magazines. Stores books bought in online library to be downloaded anytime. 3G capabilities to check twitter and what not. Books can be downloaded in under 60 seconds. No glare screen. The perfect piece of equipment for the serious book reader. 9.7" inch screen (Black and White).

Ipad: Web Browser, Email, Photos, Videos, YouTube, iTunes, iBooks (Apple's version of Kindle. I know on my ipod there is a kindle app but not sure about Ipad), Thousands of Apps, Map system for directions, Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Built in Speakers, 9.7" COLOR screen.

Main Differences:

Ipad offers the best of all worlds for just a 350 dollar difference. You get a color screen with built in speakers for watchign videos or listening to music. Kindle offers no speakers or color screen but is great for reading books.

Overall I would suggest Ipad if given the choice. Shorter battery life but lots more you can do.

Most the features were taken from respective pages.

General UO Chat / Re: I have finally conquered the impossible

It's hard to be good with my internet! Yet somehow I still manage to be above average. I think I'm going to add quotes to my spells:

"What I lack in talent I make up for in sexiness"

haha

Yes I think so. This is just the first step in a personal battle. Now that I can make stylish UO characters hopefully I can begin picking out my own real life clothes without the assistance of women. haha

I have made the sexiest character to ever grace UO. Thats right and without the help of women. My character is a natural dye golden with a light green to go on my SL warhorse. The best thing is the luna white mohawk. lol

I should have named this character the Brad Pitt of UO. haha

So now I'm off to spread the sexiness.

It's odd how people portray your characters in game. If a character looks stylish and is a pvper people are less willing to attack you. If your character looks noobish then people aren't afraid to attack you. It's a strange thing that happens in life as well as UO I guess.

So JaF, I never found an online fashion adviser but I have prevailed!

While we do understand that game bugs, skills and object balance, and live content are important to the longevity of Ultima Online ... the foundation on which all this is supported was at a critical level.  We want you to know we are in this for the long haul! 

I hate how the devs feel they have to justify all their actions so the UHallites don't complain too much. lol
