UO Bragging Rights / Re: A Wonderful Medusa Drop!
« on: March 16, 2010, 03:45:04 AM »
After having suggested to Trailmyx to add this forum section over a year ago, I finally have something I can post about in here!

For the past several weeks, I have been beating up on Medusa in the hopes of getting a drop.  Weeks went by and nothing except the constant Stone Dragon's tooth (a Gargoyle Weapon, when unraveled yields one or two relic fragments) would drop into my backpack.

FINALLY, today I read the writing on the left side of the screen when she died and it stated, "A Special Gift has been bestowed upon you for defeating this creature...!"  Low and behold, I look into my backpack and there is a deed.  On the deed it says, 'A Medusa Floor tile'.  I recalled to my home and double-clicked it on the first floor of my house and a miniature version of the Medusa Floor Carving (of her face and snake-like hair) that is in her lair is now in my House!  Woo Hoo!

Congratulations Oracle! The floor design is really cool. Nice drop!

General UO Chat / Re: What happens to Medusa damage if she's disarmed?
« on: March 15, 2010, 04:48:20 AM »
This may be too late if you already got your answers to your questions but if not, then I have found Medusa is very easily done solo with a sampy. I use a bladed staff for armor ignore. I armor ignore her till my mana gets too low then I switch to lightning strike.

Absolutely DO NOT disarm her. I made this misstake when using a guardian axe and barely made it out.
If you don't know this already Medusa can be skinned for scales while you are fighting her. Her scales are used to make gargon lenses which prevent her from turning you to stone and making doubles of your character. (you also get her scales after she dies but these don't work as well).
In order to make the lenses you will also need the crystals farmed from the first demon room of Prism of Light (the white crystals with the timers). With a alchemist (use a good tali) you turn the crystals into crstal dust (first page of the alchy menu, last option) It takes 4 crystals to make one dust. Once you have all the dust you want to make you will need to jump on your tinkerer. You will need three crystal dust and 2 Medusa scales to make one gargon lense. The lenses will have different amounts of charges on them (somewhere between 28-35)
The lenses can be applied to your headpiece, gorget/mempo, earrings, and shield if you carry one. I always use one lense for each one of those armor pieces so if it misses on one it will hit on the other.

Hope this helps!

Hello ScriptUO! My name is Katie, I am 27 and I love Ultima Online! My husband and I have been playing UO for about 8 years off and on.

My husband is actually the one who got me started playing UO. Him and best friend used to play constantly so I was curious about why they liked it so much. I made my first character, a crafter that I named Singer (after the sewing machine!) I had a ton of fun with that char and even liked to go mining! I eventually got into the fighting class (so I could make gold for my crafter) and made a swordswoman temp. I refused to play mages for the first few years I played UO insisting that there couldn't be a better template than a paladin. Eventually I had to make a mage and absolutely fell in love with it. Its pretty much the only template I play now! I have three accounts full of mages and I love my necro mage so much I am making a second one. I also love my necro tamer and my necro archer, lol.

For the first few years I played UO I was your typical trammy and did the monster hunts (later peerless) and crafting thing. After a few years I got into PvP and I really enjoy that aspect of the game. Don't get me wrong, I still love to do peerless runs and make some armor and weaps but my heart is definately in Fel.

I would love to eventually learn to write some scripts but I am blonde and more than a little ditzy and even the suggestion of that to my guildmates made them laugh their asses off!

Thank you for taking the time to read over my introduction and I look forward to becoming part of the ScriptUO family!

Katie
