Ok, I need to know what everyone thinks. I have gone through 2M+ boards trying to get a heartwood saw. I have about a handful of yews, but I wanted to use Heartwood to get super stuff. I am going to be making some armor for my whammys. I am out of patience waiting and was wondering....... is their really a difference? I read on another post that someone said they get better results from yew than heartwood. Can anyone agree to that?
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Personally I play siege and the only thing worth crafting with a heartwood saw is a good Bokuto. From the effort vs return the better bet is chaining travesty with high luck for a really great bokuto

Ultima told us about Woodland arms and gorgets, because they have good resists and a 10 DI.
-
Damn straight! Gauntlets too! 8)
-
Ultima, what about stormgrip? gauntlets are better?
would you waste any more time trying to get a heartwood saw, or just go with the yews?
-
On the Sampire template Storm Grip is really low on Fire and Posion so I try not to use them. For a Whammy or CWW Storm Grips are okay.
There is definitely a jump going from yew to heartwood on crafting the armor pieces. You can start getting 3 or so resists in the 20's plus properties. Ideally you want the heartwood woodland armor pieces to have the 10 DI with either MR2 or LMC 8.
Right now on my whammy I have StormGrips equipped and it's working. I've just been too lazy to try and get my hands on more saws and better woodland pieces. Besides the 25 DI the storm grips don't offer that much value imo. The resists are so so and despite the +8 Int I would glady trade that out for an 8LMC or MR2.
But you have to get really lucky to get an armor piece like that (DI/balanced resists/MR/LMC) from a heartwood saw and with 15 uses it's even tougher.
But yeah on my Sampire I use woodland heartwood gauntlets. You really have to do everything to overcome the hit to Fire Resists and get it up to 70.

thanks ultima! now i have a method to my madness!

I must to tell u guys how lucky i have been. I have been training bowcraft today and have used about 15k board and i have got 3 heartwood runic fletcher's tools. :D :D

Bokuto is great for PVPer!

From what I understand is the heartwood drop rate seems to have been bumped up a bit in the past few days.
-
yes, the drop rate has been up for a while now, i think about a week or so.

I'm gonna have to dust off the old quester and see if I can pull one.

depending on how much time you spend, you can get more than one ;). TT got 4 yesterday

Sweet, it will be pretty much 24/7 unattended.

Um, for the people talking about making armor for your BUSH DEXER: Mana regen is worthless. Lower mana cost, mana INCREASE, and STAM/HP increase are the way to go. And LRC. :) The regens are worthless on your armor. You're hitting monsters to get your mana/hp/stamina. Unless you're missing something ON YOUR WEAPON. Then it's good to have. :)

If BS was snow I'd be in a blizzard right now.

Explain? Regen isn't going to give you nearly ANYTHING over how much you'll LEECH. So damage and increases are the way to go. If you can GET regens, those are optimal SURE, but not necessary AT ALL.
-
agree with Twinkle McNugget on this one, i have 0 mana regen and like 4 lmc on whammy. those mods just arent needed imo. lmc is def a bonus when fighting monster that you dont hit hard enough to leech big off of but not nesessary, especially not for peerless

When it comes to weapons and armor, I'm pretty experienced. :) Just take my word for it. I have over 300 stats just from armor/mods. It's better to have 150hps and 150sp then any regen at all on your suit. With 150 hps nothing can one hit you. Hardly anything can 2 hit you. That's a good place to start on your suit, although hit point regen is great no matter what. If you can make a hp inc stam inc mana inc hp regen suit... now that I'll agree with is damn good. :)
