Just wanted to drop a quick note to introduce myself.

I've been playing online games since 2000, UO was my second (CS 1.3 being my first!). I spent a significant amount of time playing WoW, War Thunder, Tarkov amongst others over the past 20 years

I played UO originally until 2003, coming back very briefly at the beginning of ML.

I focussed mainly on role playing, I had a brief semi-successful foray as a house flipper but my own naivety led to a scam where I lost all of my "capital"! (I was lucky to learn the phrase "if it seems to good to be true..." in a situation when I only lost pixel gold!)  So Roleplaying ended up being the majority of my time, although I never got particularly good at the game.

Recently just started UO again, mainly playing on freeshards. I had a huge shock to the system moving from my mindset of pre AoS, which I felt was less item led and more the actual skills (e.g. GM/120 etc etc) to the UO of today which is heavily item based.

I think a huge amount of the reason why I've enjoyed UO this time so much more is due to diving more into scripting which has allowed me to automate many of the tasks that frankly were not enjoyable (i.e. reducing the number of clicks!) and I've had a greater or lesser degree of success in taking others scripts and editing them to my own needs. I'm largely focussed on putting together things which make in game easier, as opposed to completely automating.

I've joined this forum to try to get a little bit better at writing my own basic scripts, editing others I find and effectively "standing on the shoulders of giants" - taking advantage of the huge body of knowledge that this forum represents.
