Congrats Manwinc. I actually run both your lumberjacking script in parallel (two account) with TM's Heartwood Quester. I couldnt ask for a better set of scripts. You membership is definitely well deserved and thank you for your work.

New member introductions / Hello ScriptUO. A lil' bout' myself
« on: January 15, 2010, 06:24:23 PM »
Seeing how I've been around here for quite some time leeching scripts, I figure its only polite to go ahead and introduce myself. My character name is Valeth. I've been around UO since about 99 on the Pacific server. I've left UO several times but I always find myself coming back for more. I've just come back yet again but to a private server http://uoshatteredlegacy.com/ ) and I've found the scripts here a godsend.
Its hard to go back to simply clicking targets and whatnot after using scripts so I'm in all your debts.

Most embarrassing moment in UO: I cant exactly remember the date but I was quite new. I ran across a tamer and noticed the "We can travel these lands, I can protect you" speech. Of course, not knowing what a tamer was, I followed the guy around Cove for about 6 hours. He didnt seem to mind..

Worst time in UO: I was challenged to a duel by a mage (his name was TSE..freakin' ass) and of course as a matter of honor, I accepted it. He opened a gate and walked through with me following suit. As soon as I stepped through, he dropped me like a sack of bricks with ebolts. Now with that being said, I was a warrior using a halbard with maybe 80 resisting spells (it was good enough for pvm, how did I know I sucked?). He quickly recalled leaving me as a ghost. Not a big deal right? Yes it was. I was on an island. Back then, they had no "stuck option" and the gms did NOTHING to effect gameplay. I hung out on my personal Gilligan's Isle waiting for someone to show up for weeks spending about 5 hours a day online. Eventually, I had to delete my first and only character.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Guess it goes to show ya how "active" I've really been since joining the site. I think that was the first time I read the rules. I just kinda try to follow the "dont be a douche" rule when I visit here. l really dont have the scripting skills to be an asset but I thank you for your work nonetheless.

Hey TM, I have the lite version of CLaw and its good but I was wondering how someone goes about getting the full version. Does it have to be purchased or what? Just kinda curious as to why only a select few ever mention the full version.

Thanks TM, I'll keep looking but I gotta be honest with ya..the rail thing is all greek to me. Not sure what to really do. I know you told me but no matter how I read it, I'm lost. It'll take time I guess. Gonna see if I can get it to recall to and from.

*edit* I tried messing around with the TM_RunRail and I think I might be onto something. I was just able to recall directly to the crafting spot and its making bows and turning in quests. Hopefully, it will recall home without any issues. I'll keep you posted.

*edit* Got it working flawlessly with sacred journey. To and from with no hangups whatsoever. Thanks for all the help guys. Just took some time and some research but I'm happy with the results. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this script and for sharing it with players like myself. *tips hat*

Ya, I've made rails before for taming using bad maniacs rail maker but looking over the tool_railengine is mindboggling. It just leaves me sitting at the pc while drooling. Remember "Jeffy Dahmer" from the Ringer? Ya, thats how I feel.

I don't believe this is supported for Free shards since so many of them have been altered in some way in order for this script to be fubar.   the crafting menu has been changed on production shards so that is the reason you probbaly can only get the older version to be changed.  as far as your character not reaching the gate, you'd have to look to see if they moved the gate in a different position then osi shards and change the move x y cords....

That makes sense and I'm not asking for a handout but do you think you can kinda point me in the right direction? I know I have to change the x y coords in the tool_railengine.30k text but I have no clue where or how to find the x y coords. Just a hint or tip would be nice and it would help me learn a bit.

Okay, lemme give a brief description of what I have and the problems I'm having.
1. I play on a free server. RunUO. Thats not really my issue because I've repaired the problems stemming from that.

2. I have to use version 1.16 because its the only one that works for me. I have no idea why but neither 1.18 or 1.26 do anything once arriving at the heartwood fletchers. It opens up the crafting menu but does nothing after that point. No clue why it doesnt do anything but I just kinda gave up on it.

3. I'm actually quite happy with version 1.16 but I have ONE problem keeping me from running it flawlessly. The rail out of Heartwood come up about 5 steps short of the gate. After a moment or so, I get the waypoint 0 error gump. After closing it, I get railerror gump. Once I close those, the script recalls to my home and works flawlessly. The problem is that I have to watch the script VERY closely to keep it going. I really just need a little help. How can I get rid of the rail error gumps? If it would just recall home once I got to the end of the railpoint, I would be happy. Or even telling me how to change the rail so that it move up 5 spots would help.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Your rail problems are exactly why I didn't want to support it.  ;)

Just about anyone can implement their server-side code for Mondain's Legacy, and chances are EVERYONE will be different.  There's really where you will be on your own.  Sorry.

No need to apologize. I wouldnt learn anything if your script just fell over with its legs in the air. It will much more rewarding if I learn to make my own rail.

I changed the #CONTSIZE as suggested because it was different. I had (if #CONTNAME = generic_gump && #CONTSIZE = 420_280) However it did not close the book. The book seems to be a minor problem though. I believe my issues are stemming from the rail. I'm in the process of learning about rails so that I can change them for the RUNUO 2.0 servers. For instance, the rail walks south of the teleporter meaning that I have to manually walk north into the gate after the rail kicks in. At this point, the script is flawless and amazing to boot. I tried setting the recall point north of the gate and my character walks into the gate but then stops and I get the message "cant get there" multiple times. Also, when my wood is all used up from the beetle and he begins to leave heartwood, he doesnt make it to the gate. I think that logic points towards needing a rail designed for RUNUO. All in all, you've been extremely helpful and I've enjoyed what little I've learned over the last couple days and I do appreciate it.

Okay, just about have it knocked out. The script is running but only after a bit of help. For instance, I have the initial setup done. Everything works flawlessly until it recalls to Heartwood. At that point, my runebook stays open and I have to manually walk into the gate. I'm not sure how to add a line or where to close the book or why it recalls and instantly opens. I believe thats all thats needed. If anyone can point me in the right direction from here, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll be studying up on the script until it starts to make sense at a glance. I'm looking forward to eventually contributing with my own scripts in the future.

I'm admittedly quite new to scripting so please dont laugh. I've just about got this script working for a RUNUO server but I've run into one problem so far. I keep getting the message that I need more tinker tools. I believe the problem is the name of the tools being "tinkers tool" on EA and "tool kit" on RUNUO. The problem is I cant seem to find where to change the item ids in the script. I understand you dont support the script for RUNUO but I figure if I can get it working, I can help with the freeshard players and maybe save ya some headaches. Thanks in advance.

I just came back to UO after a long stay on WoW. Alot has changed since I've been gone and I'm beginning to wonder why I ever left. Anyways, looking forward to being apart of the scripting community.
