New member introductions / Re: Oh? Really? You Don't Say!
« on: August 10, 2011, 05:24:22 PM »
HEY!
Inter here.

First off I must say, the layout of this site is very, very nice. It will be a nice change from EUO.

Well, down to the nitty gritty... I've been playing since about 2002 and started off on Baja. When Lake Austin emerged, I quickly made a char there and have played there ever since, until recently, when I transferred the majority of my characters back to Baja. I'd say my most favorite type of character to play would be a mage of any sort. I don't get to play much, but, when I do have time to sit down, relax, and supply myself with an outlet, UO is where I go. I've been here through all the changes... the ups, the downs, the frustrations, the triumphs... all of it. PVP is pretty much what keeps me going in this game... I do spawn sometimes, but, only to try to get the fight outside of guard zone (anyone have an anti guard script? DANG!) Recently I've been looking into some melee PVP and have decided to try my HAND at that... thinking death-striking swordsman with a UBWS war fork? I think so. Currently, I'm training poisoning (yuck, btw) for the recent changes made in the patch. Definitely looking forward to getting on here and getting to know some of the masters behind the scripts, and, POSSIBLY, learning to do a little scripting myself since I have the time to kill most days. Anyhow, thanks for this opportunity to join up.

                                                                                                                      Regards,
                                                                                                                              Inter

Awwww, crap...how'd you find this place?!?!?  I'm sure you don't know me by this name, but I left a "hint" in your original message, so I'm sure you'll know who this is soon enough!  But seriously, welcome, as this site is soooo much better than that other one we're forced to visit after every patch.  I posted a few of my scripts here as well, at least those that aren't completely geared just towards my own use, although none of them are pvp related (bods and idocs, so far).  Anyway, I'll see you around, even though you're not on LA any longer...

General UO Chat / Re: Question on BOD Turnin
« on: August 04, 2011, 05:30:10 PM »
I need a few bless deeds and have 300 tailor smalls filled already. What is the best script to turn in the tailor bod a get a new one. What do people use now?

Just like Ultima, I also use Penny's BOD Swapper, although I have had several people tell me that it's "broken" for tailor bods, which I assume means it just needs to have a few click locations changed (especially for combining cloth when full).  I've "fixed" it several times for smith bods, but haven't used it for tailoring in quite some time, so I am not sure of what might need to be changed.

Season 2 Trailer!....

http://youtu.be/grWV8WZtAQc

If you haven't seen the first season I highly recommend it! I can't wait for October 16!!!

Also, if you've read the graphic novel, PLEASE do NOT spoil anything!

Can't freaking wait!!!  First season was so powerful, it's hard to imagine how they're gonna be able to top it (although the trailer looks like they are making sure they do!!!).  I just hope we get more than 6 episodes this time...watched them all more times than I can count and I'm sure I'll be watching them a lot more as season 2 approaches.  And the scene with the sisters in season 1...words can't even explain how amazing that was.....

Another cool idea, a script for do the magical residue quest o nter mur, with recall for bank or house for pick residues.

Which quest is that, the one for the 105/110 powerscrolls?  If so, that seems like it would be a simple script to write, and could easily be edited to also do the essence or relics quests.

No I did not read the whole thing. I guess that is what I get  :-[ . Thanks for the info!

Although I no longer use Hort, so I am not sure if the fix for this is in there as well, but I would suggest commenting out the need for the cursor to be moved (I believe you just need to comment out the one line where it checks if MC or DMC, not sure which, is checked, but I'm not sure where this is at again).  THis will allow you to use the computer and not need to keep the UO window on top, as neither is necessary any longer.  Just a suggestion if you get it working as you wish, as it was nice to have that option when I was still using the Hort script...

But that's just too simple of a script.  I was looking for a project to work on.

If you're looking for a larger project, here are 3 of them that i have in the works, all in the beginning stages, but with at least some code and other research done for each:

1) A BOD sorter, currently only for smith bods (tailor bods would be worth adding later, but getting it working for smith is much more desirable).  I have it set to find backpacks, bags, and pouches around my character, with one type of container full of unsorted bod books, one container type to hold the books of sorted bods (ValoriteHammer, VeriteHammer, etc, although I also plan to allow it to be expanded so that instead of all VeriteHammer BODs being in one book, all the 20ex ver plate bods are in one, all the 10 ex val plate bods are in one, and all the 15 ex val plate bods are in one, although this would lead to a LOT of storage books in the end, but a lot easier to find what is needed as well).  The third container type had one container full of empty bod books (if more aren't needed - undetermined if 2 containers full are needed), and at least 4 empty containers, to hold the bods removed from the book (up to 125 are added to each container).  It then sorts all the bods, either putting the iron smalls that give crap rewards back into their original books to be filled for recycling, or if desired, stored in books by rewards as well.

2) A new BOD Filler.  I have used snicker 7's BOD filler extensively, and there seems to be a number of places that it goes into a continuous loop, etiher discovered by myself or others.  Rather than trying to fix his code (which I haven't been able to do, although I have added checks into my multi-book bod filler script to overcome some of the issues), I felt a new script was needed, and while I would much rather have tried writing it in oEUO, I just haven't grasped enough of it yet (or much of it, even).

3) A fishing quester.  In order to try getting fishing powerscrolls and possible the other new loot being added, as well as use up my stockpile of fish, I have started work on a fishing quester, to automatically get and fill fishing quests from the fishmongers.  I have a small area for sailing that allows me to get to any area I need, except papua, without having to sail to each destination, and by placing a second boat near the sea market, that can also be reached and have quests completed.  While still a lot of work left to complete this one as well, i would basically recall to all the fishmongers on it's subserver to get quests from them.  Then it would fill the quests, and if one of the destinations was already on the same subserver, complete the quest and get a new one from the monger who originally gave it.  Once all quests are filled and not on the same subserver you are already on, it will sail to the next subserver and continue, and then continuously do this until it runs out of fish.  The first outline calls for cancelling any quest to papua, due to the time needed to actually sail there (although i am going to test a couple more things with it), but otherwise, it can do all of the other fishmonger locations.  It would put all the loot it receiving into a container at the house with all the fish, including combining baits, and could be pretty lucrative.

As I said, I already have all 3 of these in the works, although I don't know how public they should become due to being a little too powerful (although if it was better, I would be more than happy to lead on making any or all of them a special project, especially if it would get a few other scripters out there to be able to help with some code and allow these things to really see some life - and i am sure I would learn so much more than I already know, which might even be more valuable than the finished script could ever be...I am also willing to help anyone who wishes to tackle these, especially if it was to be attempted in oEUO, as I would love to learn some more of the language, even after writing a small gift gathering script that I don't know if I fully comprehend!)...

General UO Chat / Re: Templates & Success killing Minions
« on: July 01, 2011, 05:34:27 PM »
I was using my Thrower to fight these, usually taking about 6-8 mins and a bunch of bandaids.  My template is approximately this (finishing off the last points in bush and tact still):
120 Throwing
120 Tactics
120 Bushido
100 Anat
90 Heal
40 Necro
60 Spirit
70 Chiv

My weapon is a soul glaive imbued with demon slayer, 30 SSI, 30-something Mana Leech, 30-something Stamina Leech, and however much Damage Increase fits after that.  My suit, in addition to being all 70s, has the following mods: STR 26, DEX 26, INT 16, HPI 32, SI 31, MI 14, SSI 50, LMC 37, HLD 30, HCI 35, DCI 15, DI 85, HPR 2, SR 2 (although the DI might be a little different from when I imbued the first and last weapons).

Basically, all I do is find one of the minions that are on that island right next to the starting island and lure it towards the gate area.  Then, standing as far back as possible, in wraith form, I just continuously throw at it, casting EoO a couple times during the fight and using bandaids whenever necessary.  When I am hit, I take about 60 damage and lose almost half of my stamina, but the bandaid gives me back more than enough hits and the weapon usually restores my stamina in full within 1-3 throws, so I rarely have to cast Divine Fury.  I also continuously cast AI whenever I have enough mana, or else lightning strike when I don't, and in the event that I had to teleport onto the island to lure a creature (I carry teleport and protection scrolls), I also will honor it if possible (can't honor it from the ground when it's on the island though).  This keeps it from being able to walk over to me and if a friend joins me, we can usually take one down in under 3 mins, with one of us x-healing the other, as only one char seems to take any damage - i've heard its possible to have a range on the throwing weapons longer than the minions range, but I am not sure how this is acheived, although when I redo my suits again, I will get more of some of the stats added as well).

Using this method, I have completed the quest once and have about 15 extra books for trying to get a second (have 8 of 10).  And it actually seems like my method could have easily been scripted, at least the part where it actually fights the minion, but sadly I didn't feel like spending the time trying to write the code (instead working on several other projects I have in the works, none of which are on topic for this thread!).

I will have to try the ice slayer talisman though, as I hadn't tried loring the minions, so if i can do even more than the 200+ damage I am already doing, these things might die much, much faster!!!

Updated to v1.04a due to incorrect variables being used:

v1.04a Corrected #findcnt/#findstack errors

As always, please let me know if you have any problems with the script, as well as if you have any suggestions or possible improvements!

25
Two updates have been made to this script, bringing the current version to v1.04:

v1.04 Added tool checking due to reported bug in s7's calling script
      - Verifies that you have at least 2 tools (tinker tools, tongs, or sewing kits)
in your backpack before calling s7's filler script
      - I suggest keeping at least 1 tinker tool in your resource secure
      - Future versions will also verify that the materials needed to fill the bod
        are available
v1.03 Added "cleaning" of backpack when swapping each book (trashing only)
      - Thanks to tandj99 for the idea!

As always, please let me know if you have any problems with the script, as well as if you have any suggestions or possible improvements!

Scripting Chat / Re: Dirt patches

Tile scan.  Sorry.

EDIT:  OOOH!  Unless you can use the item "Dirt Patch" that drops from Oaks.

Unfortunately, it's gotta be a tile scan, as I already tried the "Dirt Patch" from Oaks, having had the same thought myself...It says something about wanting fresh dirt, as I just tried it again to see what the message was...

Although, the tile does seem to have a unique ID, so after you find it the first time, I guess it could be stored as a persistant variable to make it faster/easier to use later.  Doing a finditem on the item ID only yields 'X' as the item type, so that doesn't really help.

Script Snippets / Re: Backpack Inventory
« on: May 27, 2011, 12:05:11 PM »
I did this exact same thing in my BOD filling script in order to clean the backpack out after each book is filled.  I haven't released that version yet, as it only trashes the extra items right now and I want to make it unravel or smelt some of them first.  This was the only option I could think of as well, although I also had to set a variable of item types that might be new and not want to be trashed (tongs, tinker tools, sewing kits, etc), as I add the IDs of these items to the initial inventory string so that I don't remove them from the backpack when I know they will be needed later.

Script Debug / Re: First script help please
« on: May 07, 2011, 09:05:36 AM »
Still looking through the code as well, but I see a potential problem in your sub Find:

Code: [Select]
Sub Find
finditem  %kill G_10
if #findkind = -1
{
Gosub Find ; This is the line that could be a problem!
}
Return

Specifically, you don't want to call the sub from within itself, as this may eventually lead to a crash.  Instead, you may want to either try moving the character a short distance to find a new chicken, or simply wait until a chicken wanders within your search range.  Given that you've done all the coding on this yourself, I'll refrain from supplying any code in case you want to research it yourself, but am more than happy to help if you want (although there are many others who can help much more than I, but I still get by!).

YOUR GOING TO KICK YOURSELF

if :_The_Lock_Quickly_Yields in #journal || if This_does_not_appear_to_be_locked in #journal

Also you {} count dont match... and what Twinkle McNugget said so i would change it to .. (Saves on lines for simple logic settings)

Code: [Select]
set %unlocked _The_Lock_Quickly_Yields in #journal || This_does_not_appear_to_be_locked in #journal

I was just about to post about the extra 'if' too.  But his {} do match, they just don't line up (that was the first thing I thought was the problem)...

IDOC tools / Re: Timbo Slice's IDOC Timer v1.00
« on: April 21, 2011, 11:48:08 PM »
Hello, i tested this today and its *bleep* nice ;p

I have a little suggestion, maybe can you add a multi houses check with reccal runes ?

Thanks, I'm glad you had some success with this script!

As for your suggestion, I had thought of having another script to do the multi-house checks as well, but discovered a number of possible problems with recalling around.  The biggest concern I had with it is the frequency of crashes I've had with recalling, which would end up giving no results instead of even just one useful time.

Other issues are fairly easily resolved, such as needing to either have multiple loose runes or default set runebooks, but others may not be quite as simple to code, such as using multiple runes within one runebook (I've figured out how I might handle this, but it would require a little more coding than easier methods).  The timing of the recalls would also have to be determined, such as whether it would continuously recall around a loop or if it would loop through each rune, wait a set amount of time, then go through the loop again.  While either of these methods might work (although continuously recalling might be more than a little suspicious and would be much more susceptible to crashing), the delay might reduce the effectiveness of getting an "exact" time for the house going IDOC, and while the difference between knowing it turned at exactly 12:34:56am or sometime between 12:30:00 and 12:40:00 might not seem too significant, a larger gap or two houses with the same gap as the turning time might make it more difficult to know which house to camp first.

Of course, I might try something like this script anyway, not as a replacement or update to this one, but rather as a stand-alone script for getting approximate IDOC times, but as of right now, I would have to say this would not be a top priority for me, as I usually just have several clients open and run the script with each client if I need the times for more than one house each night.  I do thank you for the suggestion though, as it might give me ideas for future updates or completely new scripts!
