General UO Chat - Freeshard edition / ConnectUO 2.0
« on: November 22, 2009, 12:26:32 PM »
I had use to play ABC using gateway, but lost interest and had looked elsewhere for a fun shard.  By the time I had found one I like, UOGateway had gone in the trash. Well, thanks to Jeff from RunUO, there's a new loader in town.  I don't play freeshards anymore, but I'll certainly try some out using this new program.

UO-Related Tutorials / "Flyways" in Ter Mur
« on: November 05, 2009, 07:06:02 AM »
Here's a little info on where and how to fly over anything in Ter Mur.

First, you must be a gargoyle, and be in flying mode. For scripts, use event macro 60.  Now, just as roads and highways are restrictive to certain places and locations with borders, so is it also in Ter Mur. These "Flyways" as I call them are much like bridges or roads.  They only go to certain locations and at certain points along the flyways, your gargoyle can jump off and proceed about the land, or be restricted onto the flyway due to geographical obstacles, such as mountains, water or void areas.  Should you decide to leave the current flyway, you cannot get back on from where you left. You must return to a 'launch tower' to get back on the flyway.  Below is an image of what I call a "Launch Tower."  These buildings are placed around Ter Mur and serve as 'airports' for gargoyles to enter and exit a flyway.

Each tower has a set of sparkles that designate the beginning of the flyway. Respective to the UO radar, if a sparkle pair resides on the east wall of the tower, the flyway goes in that direction.  The map below shows Ter Mur with the launch tower locations circled, and the flyways connecting them all.

Additionally, purple circles are the 'passes' where only gargoyles can fly through. Some are water, and some are mountains.

While you are on the flyway, NO monsters can attack you unless a monster is on the launch tower.  One more thing, at the moment you take to the air, EasyUO sees your gargoyle as poisoned. Razor also sees and sets your health bar to orange.  I've attached the Ter Mur map for anyone who wants it, it is rather large, but is a good refrence.

Enjoy!

UO-Related Tutorials / Worthwhile Quests in Ter Mur Royal City
« on: November 04, 2009, 05:40:41 PM »
Axem The Curator
These 3 quests are all offered by Axem the Museum Curator. He can be found in the large building to the west of the outdoor Gargoyle lawn area.  The front of the building has four statues in the front, one of Paroxysmus, Monstrous Interred Grizzle, Lady Melisande & a Changling.

The reason that these three here are worthwhile is because as you've probably already come across some items which Axem wants. They are, Tattered Remnants of an Ancient Scroll (small grey squares), Ancient Pottery Fragments & and an Untranslated Ancient Tomb. Seemingly worthless items, however, this guy pays nicely for these items and gives you your reward in named pouches.

Starting with the quest "Putting the Pieces Together", you'll gather 5 of the 'Tattered Remnants...' and mark them as quest items in your backpack. Upon returning the pieces to Axem, he'll hand you a named pouch (Dusty Museum Bag...color varies) with a few gems, a mining gem (saphire or whatever...I got a Brilliant Amber this time) a new book title and color, along with at least 6500 in gold and 15 loyalty points.  Easy cash while you hunt.

Next we'll go over "A Broken Vase."  Here you'll want to gather 10 pieces of the "Ancient Pottery Fragments" and also mark them as quest items. Turning these in will get you a 'Meager Museum Bag' but still sprinkled with gems, mining gems, another new book, 5 loyalty points and about 3500 in gold.

Finally for Axem, is the better of the 3, the "Ye Olde Gargish." This book was a drop that I got doing the rats in the Abyss, but can be anywhere I suppose. You only need 1 book to finish this quest and when so, you'll be presented with a "Bulging Museum Bag" complete with again gems, mining gems, another book, parasitic plant at least 10,000 gold and 50 loyalty point.

Sliem The Fence

Should you head in the northerly direction past the museum where we met Axem, up in the NW corner of the walled in Royal City, you'll find this shady fellow, Sliem.  He requires 2 items, and gives in return a wonderfully named box, a random essance and 75 loyalty points.  The items are: 2 perfect emeralds, and one Crystalline blackrock. Mark these and bring them to Sliem and you'll get a great box named "Essence Box."  And guess what, I actually use this box and keep only my stacks of essence in it.

Thanks for looking, happy hunting and I hope you all make lots of cash !!

This method is as designed per the SA expansion, but I have not seen any documentation about any bit of what I'm about to share with you.  So first, this works ONLY for gargoyles, the place you need to get to is only reachable by flying.

We start off by going to a building directly south of the Tomb of Kings entrance along the path. Inside to the right is a pair of books on the floor.  The information in the "Book Of Circles" is what the 'quiz' will be on.

After you've familiarized yourself with the content, return to the ToK entrance but go off a little to the east along the mountains.  Along the edge where the rocks meet the grass, is a pair of blue sparkles.  These are the markers for gargoyles letting them know that you can fly through this area.

Once through the sparkles, find your way between the snow tops into the opening where another building is. The flying path bends slightly to the NW upon first flying the path.  Once inside the building, speak the mantra 'Unorus' while standing near the sparkling floor object between the 3 book holding pedestals.

After saying the mantra, you are presented with a quest gump, press continue twice to begin the quiz on what you read.  The quiz is similar to that which you took when getting the humiliation quest. You'll be presented with a question with 4 possible answers, and 4 questions total.  After successfully answering all questions, you will be able to enter the Abyss from either entrance, through the Kings Tomb, or the underworld.

This is only useful if you find your gargoyle is incapable of killing the monsters that the underworld entrance requires (which was my problem with my crafter as a gargoyle).

Additional info:

  • The book to the south of the 'Book Of Circles' contains the mantra word
  • Throughout Ter Mur, The Underworld and the Abyss, wherever you see the sparkles, your gargoyle may fly a path between them.
  • Humans cannot see the sparkles

Enjoy :)

Inactive Submissions / Crystal Portal Sub
« on: October 10, 2009, 09:43:49 PM »
Code: [Select]
; SuperSlayer's Crystal Portal Sub
; Author: SuperSlayer
; Version 1.0
; Release date: 10-11-09
; Purpose: Utilize the Crystal Portal in scripts requiring travel with/out runebook/traveling capabilities
; Shard: OSI
; Client Tested with: 7.0.1.1 (Patch 95)
; EUO version tested with: 1.5 v155
...
...
...
; Example usage: "Fel Minoc Mint", "Minoc Moongate"
; Example Sub usage: GoSub SS_CryPor Fel Minoc Mint
;                    GoSub SS_CryPor Null Britain Mint
;                    GoSub SS_CryPor Null Luna Moongate

; Dependencies: Character must be able to use the Crystal Portal via it's security setting. This script will NOT
;               check for that setting. The Crystal Portal MUST be locked down in the home and character at least
;               on the same floor as the object.

; Returns #False for unsuccessful travel of character
; If Return is #false, check these values to see where the problem is:
;   !Args_Invalid = missing arg. #False
;   !CryPor = A Crystal Portal has not been found. #False
;   !Rep = Character is red and attempted to go to Trammel. #False
;   !CPLocked = Crystal Portal is not locked down and will not work. #False
;   !Arg_Valid = Location desired does not exist, Ex: "Fel Luna Moongate." #False
;   !CPSpell (Loc_City/Loc_Obj) = Argument is either misspelled or not an acceptable argument.
;                                 Ex: "Fel Britain Minnt","Fel Valor Mint."
; Returns #True for successful travel of character

This script sub is designed to help the script writer with an alternative to recalling/SJ'ing/and gating by using the new first year vet reward, the Crystal Portal. The Crystal, as designed, will instantly teleport your character to the desired location simply by typing it out in the client. With this sub, you'll eliminate the constant hassle of editing scripts over again with different location information.  Simply insert a few lines of my code at the start of your script, and when you need to use the Crystal Portal, use this GoSub and the 3 args to get there with loads of error checks. These include: Lock down status of the Crystal, crystal distance from character, character rep relation to destination, spell checking of the arguments passed, and smart location referral.

Lock down status check is simply that. If the Crystal Portal is not locked down, it won't work. This script will detect it's lock down status.
Crystal distance from character will need to be within 3 tiles, this script will walk/pathfind to the crystal if within 15 tiles.
Character reputation relation to destination checks for red characters accidentally opting to go to tram. Likely forgetting to put the 'Fel' 1st argument in the GoSub.
Spell checking of the arguments passed is minimal but will compare at the least to the allowed set of location commands.
Smart location referral checks if the location exists, such as "Fel Valor Moongate" - no such moongate exists.

Featuring: Error Report upon failure in any sense! If for some reason, the travel fails, an error report is ready upon the exitting of the sub located in the #Result. However, should there be no errors and the character travels successfully, the #result returned will be #True.

I look forward to your feedback, thank you and enjoy !

Off Topic / Opinions on my web site
« on: October 04, 2009, 04:41:41 PM »
I'm creating a site as a 'junction' or hub, for UO related content. A one-stop site for as much UO as one would desire. There are nearly no rules as to what type of UO content that I'd like to share. As it stands, it's very basic in it design, and probably limited in at the moment concering the amount of content.  That's all going to change. I need a break from battling with my WT script, so this is what I've been up to. Creating this site, I've learned HTML, XHTML, JavaScript and CSS.

Currently, I'm having one issue with supplying content to the site relating to RSS feeds. On the right side of the page is a drop down list of several UO sites. Selecting one, then pressing the 'View' will result in a list/summary of the 10 recent posts from the selected site. Unfortunately, this isn't working quite yet. Thimotty has been kind enough to offer some help in getting it to work, may actually be php coding of some sort dealing with my host.

Nevertheless, there's a scroll feature in the middle part of the main page that may not be completely compatible with all browsers. I use FireFox and don't have any issues, but IE users I'm sure will. Help will also be welcome there as well.

All in all, if anyone has any ideas for site improvement or questions at all, reply here or at my temporary blog site. Blog.

Script Snippets / SS's Niporailem Treasure Sand Remover Version 1.0
« on: September 29, 2009, 09:31:35 AM »
This is a little script that I made for solo'ing the mini-boss Niporailem in the Tomb of the Kings. While you fight him, he throws piles of gold at you that weigh 25 stones each, several are thrown at a time. If you try to drop the gold piles, it'll spawn monsters, so wait until the piles turn into sand, and THEN lose them. Problem arises that when they do turn into the 'Treasure Sand', you have to do it one by one, attempt to heal, and go chase him down again all the while being pelted with more gold weighing you down. Quite a nuisance.

What this script will do for you is this, on your command via hotkey, unload the Treasure Sand from your backpack for you! It's really helpful for me since I use a dexxer on him and cant manually drag each sand off every time while doing a handful of other things. So simply go find the little brat, start pounding on him (make sure the script is already playing) and as soon as you see some of the gold turn to sand, hit your hotkey and bam!

Questions comments, love to hear them.
Enjoy

Scripting Languages / Now I'm off to XHTML
« on: September 22, 2009, 10:13:00 AM »
Well, so far I've created my web site completely in HTML, and converted it to XHTML which is supposedly the newest and most compatible web design language. I forget what version it is, but I made the conversion with a great new editor I found. It's called HTMLPad 2010 Ver. 10.0.0.111.  Here's their site. I'd say my site is about 75% done with the basic layout links and such, but there's one more thing I'm working on adding and I think I'll need some JS for it to work.  I upgraded my server HD to 250gb's but it's still being powered by a subtle 150w PS, 512mb of mem, and an Intel proc that is approximately 5+ years old. So I've formatted and reinstalled Server '03 on it and that's about as far as I've gotten with it...been having fun making my page and whatnot. I think with all I'm doing, I'll have this server house some info that my uo scripts will require and probably my UCI program. I figure I could have the WT script call and run the rails from the server location rather than have users download all the rails and wait for them all to load since it can take several minutes for it to load into memory. The UCI program can work similar to that as well.  The UCI program could connect to my server from the client, access an XML db, and supply the user with the required arguments that the chosen script needs to have in order to function.  It could also be cool for client/users to upload their own custom scripts and call functions that would be unique to them and not stored completely on the server. That would also enable remote access from anywhere they want, not just the computer they use regularly, but any one computer anywhere.  Probably will need some security and verifications for custom script access and running, but that's a long shot from where all this is now.

Just thought I'd post a bit as to what I've been up to for the last little while.

Bug discussion / 2 unhandled exceptions
« on: July 27, 2009, 08:12:11 AM »
Here's what I was doing. Last night, I was 'tidying-up' my WT script (over 4700 lines, if that matters) and did a search and replace. I entered into the search 'gosub' with ignore case Off. I placed in the 'replace' text box 'GoSub'. I had over 200 found results. As soon as I hit the 'Replace all' button, I got the exception. This is all with the 227 version. I elected to quit the program, then decided to open the 212 version. I may have the versions backwards, but I used them both. After 212 started, I went to the File, open, selected the WT script again, and was greeted by another UE.

As of this moment, whenever I open a script, I get the same UE in both versions.

Here are both UE's:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Script Debug / Callbacks..ug
« on: July 12, 2009, 12:11:36 PM »
Hiya Tm, ya, I'm still having issues with the RE and callbacks. I'm absolutely going bonkers with it. To keep it simple, I'll just attach the files and let some of all you take a look at what I'm doing wrong. I understand that KiD has got it down pat, so hopefully he can help in my dilemma.

Simple jist of the script is this. On the outer east side of Umbra, between the mountains and the forest line, the rail begins and takes you all the way down to the large black hole which drop you into the actual dungeon Doom. The callback is at the doors, opening them.

MSL8a is the rail file, and SSCB is the callback. Thanks for any light anyone can shed.
