Title: Fisherman
Post by: rwek on January 23, 2015, 01:18:48 AM
Returning to game and wanting to explore an area of the game I havent' dabbled in much.

I really hate being dead on a boat in the middle of no where....

I've google for some fisherman info, its mostly old.

Anyone got a template for solo fisherman?

I have a 2nd account if needed, but prefer solo if its viable.

I saw a mixture of suggestions from archers, mage w/ archer weapon, mystic/mage, fishing/tamer, bard etc.

Just wondering what works best for some of you that I might give a try to.

My fisherman is very simple yet I rarely ever have issues.

Fishing 120
Magery 100
Eval 100
Med 100
Focus 100
Cooking 100

I don't even have a full template. I use a reptile slayer spellbook and when the deep sea serpents come up, they are dead with 3-5 e-bolts using gm magery/eval. Regular sea serpents are dispatched 2 ebolts and water elementals within 3 ebolts without a slayer book.

I prefer to use TM's Fully Auto Fisherman to pull up SOS and fight mobs. http://www.scriptuo.com/index.php?topic=41.0
Try to avoid areas frequented with pirate spawn but other than that you should have no issues.

This is the best from my point of view - please note I fish in wraith form

Resist 120 with protection 86 so I like to add 15 with jewels and 5 more from item
fishing 120
magery 115 Can not afford a 120 mage
Eval Int 120
Spirit speak 120
focus 120 (or necro)

I use a snake slayer (not reptile) with +10 resist, and 8 SDI

if my guy is new I use
Resist 120 with protection 86 so I like to add 15 with jewels and 5 more from item
fishing 100
magery 100
Eval Int 100
Spirit speak 100
focus 100
necro 100

I use a snake slayer (not reptile)

The only thing I really ever worry about with my fisherman is the self repair armor.  The last time I died on ship was years ago and that was only because one of my larger LRC items fell into my backpack because it needed repair, then I started fizzling with a deep sea serpent.  Eventually he got me.  Everything else is cake.  On most freeshards, you don't even need to worry about armor becoming damaged in spell combat.

I have a tallies with 100% damage to Deed  sea Serpent so It easy for me.

But on my newbie shard, I use pet, so I don't have to worry about getting hit, the pet attack before sea serpent does.

Ghost - does a tally work with spells or are you using a weapon.
Ghost - since it is deep sea serp tali - does it work on regular sea serpents?

I was an archer when I was fishing at first.  Was easier to kill the Deep serpent,   serpent are easy to kill.  Never use spell while fishing.  I prefer to have pet with me now so I don't need to worry and do weapon swap.

reptile slayer spellbook and deep sea serpents are toast!

resist is a must if you want the fisherman to be a mage.
