the version i can use to save my set up is .781   and then once its saved i can open and run it in version .784_b3

Ok, I'll look at what changed this evening...

What version are you having success with saving?  I'll see if I can see what might be different so you can make the changes to the newer version so that it will work.

Items that you specifically create rules for go into your loot pack.  Items like bones, arrows, feathers, gold etc go to your main pack.  I'm not exactly sure why I did it that way, but I cannot remember the justification now.

If you want to make a custom text rule "daemon bone" or "dragon blood" then that's considered a created rule and the items should then go into your loot pack.

Player Templates / Suggestions for an Archer
« on: March 21, 2022, 11:48:21 AM »
So it's been a VERY long time since I played around with an archer in UO, but I've been thinking about building one on VnV just for S'n'Gs.  I remember having fun with a provoke archer that was fun for PvM 1:1, but I'd like to figure out something that can handle a larger spawn.  Is that even possible?  This is really only for PvM since I don't do PvP well.

Anyhow, lemme know what you've had fun playing with in the past or something that you might think would be a good powerful combination using the new fangled rules of today.

The random number generator has always been VERY strange on OSI.  There was once the 8x8 trick where you could chase gains by sailing north once you start a run.  It was kinda fun - I miss those days.  Glad the script is still working well.  I use it constantly on the freeshard VnV.

He is restricted, I think he was testing the 1 post thing which hasn't been a thing since I joined in 2010 lol

Heh, oh I know.  ;)

I'm sure the hiding and stealth still work, but the pen trick is LONG LONG dead.

General UO Chat - Freeshard edition / Re: UO Vice and Virtue

So it's been about 1 month since I started.  So far I've made 5 different characters:
1) General fighter - quick start for gold - will turn into a Sampire
2) Fisherman/Scribe - because fishing and Tidus stopped supplying runebooks. :)
3) Stealth tamer - because?  Unsure, I like lurking...
4) Peace tamer - duh
5) Miner/lumberjacker/tinker (just started)

It's been fun and you can tell that everything I found annoying with vanilla UO had probably annoyed the staff as well.  Since you can withdraw from your bank at nearly any transaction, you don't have to carry gold with your when you buy vender things like scrolls and regs.  Also the portable moongate is really a handy thing.  Finally, I really like how they made skill mods useful on magic items by not counting the value toward your own skill cap.  So it's easy to make your character more flexible by adding a few different jewelry items.

I just started doing the taming BODs as well.  I keep getting distracted with other little projects on the server.  There really is a bunch to do over and above the normal UO fare.  Probably the best thing you can say is that the staff is clearly active with the normal shard day-to-day.

I'm glad you made it over here.  It's no small statement to say that your scripts, and particularly your HW quest script are the reasons this site still exists today.  People like freddy who took it over for you, and others like myself and Cerveza were inspired enough by the potential of the script that we continued with sites like this up until this day.  If it wasn't for EasyUO putting their foot down and prohibiting your work from seeing the light of day, then sites like WinUO, UOCoders and this site would never have existed.

I wish I could take your path of leaving this game to just nostalgia, but every time I start playing when I say I'll never play again - I tend to have a blast. It's a much needed diversion from all the sillyness in the world.

Anyhow, welcome and glad you succeeded and prosper!

Best,
TM

Seems like a lot of effort for very little return but could still be a fun little project.

That's what I was thinking on both accounts.  But for the lay-scriper, there's a bunch of good learning there.

I'm pretty sure something like this existed at some point, but it would be great to have a modern take on this idea.  You should gofer it!

I donated a little bit out of appreciation and not only did I get the VnV coins, but a nice set of deco items.  Very cool!
