Receipes / Cinnamon Rolls
« on: February 07, 2015, 01:17:31 PM »
These are top notch cinnamon rolls. Follow the directions to a T and don't cut corners.

Posting a link, because it has several photos to go along w/ recipe.

Games & Game Systems / Asheron's Call
« on: February 05, 2015, 09:09:47 AM »
As I look at a long list of old games and even older posts I can't help but think of a few I played years ago.

Asheron's call would have been my 3rd MMO

UO, Everquest, AC

It was never a hugely popular game, but it was unique in many ways.

I bounced back and forth to this game as I got bored w/ others.  One of the original problems I had was bad character creation.  I didnt have a way to teleport early on.  This was a huge problem and ruined my original character.  As the leveling was slow at the start this caused me to lose interest and pick up one of my other games.

Giving it another shot w/ some friends I tried it out again.  Enjoying the monthly updates - It had more free content than any game I know.  There was a  story line worth diving into for free - every month.  This went on from 1999 until 2014 I believe.  However, dated graphics and a mostly solo appeal w/ endless level caps - I lost interest again.

Then for some reason my brother and I tried it one last time - This was my best experience in Asheron's Call.  Darktide pvp server - Right from early levels your fighting for your life and items.

Its like original UO when u die you lose your items - There was a catch though - you lost a % of items, w/ the largest values first.  Every item had a gold value. So if you had 20 items, you might lose 4 w/ the highest value ones always dropping.  So you could collect high value worthless, and light weight items to protect your valued items.

The best part of the pvp was the fight for territory - It truly had epic battles.  Not just to "hey come to yew gate lets pvp" but  Lets control this dungeon take all the xp and loot 24/7 for months - and defend it the best we can.

The guilds/ patron system worked great.  One of the largest guilds on Darktide was founded by some UO players from Chesapeake - The UO server I started on.  Just up from my house was a band of guys called the bannana boys -  Mostly a prime time group gather around to 10 on 1 noobs as they came into dungeon zones and got fireballed to death.  i was never impressed and killed them often when they were not in a large group.

Needless to say, one of these guild leaders has a website and talks about the forming of "Blood" on Asheron's call -  The guild/pvp/reputation over there was truly one to be admire.  From their own custom scripts/hacks  to just full time managing of the patron system - It was a work of art.

Anyone else get to experience this?

General UO Chat / Reforge crafter?
« on: February 05, 2015, 12:52:30 AM »
Is there a reforge crafter for public?

I saw frneos crafter, that looks really nice but i THINK its just burning runics only -

I'd like to basically do the same thing except select reforge options.

Have it craft item iron item, smelt non exceptional, use runic to reforge stated properties, evaluate items, unravel rest.  Heck could be tailor and metal.

I searched around, but not finding anything like this.  Point me in the right direction please - its tedious doing this by hand.

*edit*  Saw that Ghost has a runic reforge helper - maybe I can get started there if there is nothing more complete.

Player Templates / Fisherman
« on: January 23, 2015, 01:18:48 AM »
Returning to game and wanting to explore an area of the game I havent' dabbled in much.

I really hate being dead on a boat in the middle of no where....

I've google for some fisherman info, its mostly old.

Anyone got a template for solo fisherman?

I have a 2nd account if needed, but prefer solo if its viable.

I saw a mixture of suggestions from archers, mage w/ archer weapon, mystic/mage, fishing/tamer, bard etc.

Just wondering what works best for some of you that I might give a try to.

New member introductions / *Hail to the Chief plays*
« on: January 22, 2015, 03:35:11 PM »
The band always plays that when I enter a room....

Wow, lets see - I played UO a week or so after it released. I guess that was 1997 -  It started a very long game addiction.  I should have probably sought out rehab a few times.

Its like 17 years later, and I can still remember highlights from playing UO in that first year.  I played w/ my brother at the time and we did well in pvp that I credit to the use of phone....

This is before skype and such things.  We coordinated attacks well that others just didnt have the communication to do.  I remember launching earth quake scrolls from inside the house. Logging out, letting him log in and dropping his EQ scrolls.  Then going outside to loot 40+ bodies who had come to raid us on a regular basis.

The memories go on and on.  I came back to UO after a long list of MMOs sometimes around 2006/7.  Did some PvM and then got into pvp w/ a cool group at Yew Gate.  I quit the game for what I thought was the last time. I figured letting my Fel tower fall full of stuff would give a couple hours of good pvp for the shard.  Sadly in 2014 I've returned wishing I had at least kept my soulstones.  So is life.

The depth of UO is unmatched on so many levels. I wish i had kept my account current since release.  I really don't know why I didnt take a break and keep on paying.

The wifes a lazy pig, so you really don't want her measurements.  When I'm not working or gaming I love to duck hunt.  I've got a black lab that means the world to me.  I once saw a photo tagged " he paid more for his duck dog then my engagement right"  It's true - don't spend too much on fat chicks.

My scripting skills usually cap out by trying to "update" some outdated script.  I can usually get them functioning but don't have the knowledge or dedication to write truly functional scripts.

I don't think I was on this sight back in 2007. Not sure if it was up then.  I did have a source for some "advanced" scripts, but really can't remember where they came from.

I'm back, looking to focus on PVM for a while - acquire some wealth and hone the pvp skills.

I would like to share 2 of my best UO moments though from 1997/98

These "raiders" they often tried to catch my brother and I outside of Destard show up one morning.  This is when u had a key to your house.  We used to keep the key safe on our vendor.  Well darned if they didnt kill me and get the key.  We had LOTS of stuff in our house.  All these blues had crammed inside shouting look at all the stuff, let me out - let me out I can't move etc.  These chumps were in their glory. I didnt want to, but I had to telephone my brother to let him know what happened.  Just as I was about to dial - Server going down in 5 minute msg comes up.  Everything backed up - and it made my day knowing these guys got a good look at how rich we were :-)

2 friends came out of that deal - Righty Left and Lefty Righty   - They gave in and went red.    New PKs living near Destard 1998 Chesapeake
