I suppose we can be lucky that Stealth exists and really doesn't suffer as much from patching issues. I guess my recent decision to learn Delphi was prophetic. ;)
It seems like Cheffe goes through this every couple years or so. It's easy to start feeling under-appreciated for running places like this. I do it just because I like the community and love the game of UO. He really needs to feel comfortable with other people in the developers community and pass the torch to someone else. Crome, Ximan, Boydon, etc would be more than worthy to pick up the torch and continue forward. Unfortunately Cheffe never seems to have felt comfortable sharing the responsibility with someone else that I'm aware of. Perhaps CEO and Ximan had access, but it was never clear how much access they had.
Heck, it would be fun to get my hands on his EUO parser and try to make Stealth talk something similar. My parser was pretty close, but I never quite got the subtle differences of the parser as Cheffe made changes from 1.42 to 1.5.

based on some past patch comments I do believe CEO does have access..... I agree with TM Cheffe does go through times like this

Well there was no discussion in the Council of Elders regarding this. Actually there really wasn't much participation recently at all (myself included). It's sad too because that whole thing was brought on by Cheffe seeming like he wanted to engage the community once again. Frankly I don't ever see Cheffe relinquishing core control over EasyUO. I asked a pointed question about the internals of EasyUO and he got pretty defensive. So I doubt that'll ever happen. It's amazing how he swings from extreme to extreme. I dunno, I just don't have the energy for it anymore. I guess I'll really have to force myself to start re-making all my UO automation functions in Stealth.

Or....or....or.....you could work on the scriptuo client again! 8)

Lol, no way! I just don't have Cheffe's skills in that regard.

Spawn an Evil Santa that has been possessed by the Grinch and put him in a dungeon and your done!
just saying.....oh wait....one more request....because of my newbness and inability to handle the current halloween spawn maybe you could incorporate red nosed deer with same hit points as regular deer so I can participate in an event for once! :P

Gawd, don't give Pure any ideas.... :p
The problem is I'm VIOLENTLY allergic to anything Xmas-related.

Think i will write a grinch and name him Trailmyx. If you beat him he will nag to Seer Trailmyx to decorate Christmas :D
I prepare a small event for christmas, just updating our core (about 2000 files) takes higher prior and more time ;D

Cheffe sometimes seems manic or even bipolar; this comes with the "sub-genius" territory I suppose (I'm looking at you TM...Crome...EN...) ;)
He should have charged $10 for EasyUO with lifetime updates 10 years ago when membership was still at it's prime, he would have made a small fortune and we could have spent the last 10 years with reasonable expectations of a threatless, healthy product development lifecycle since it would have pushed him into formalizing the process or lose the cash cow. I and tens of thousands of subscribers would have been happy to pay for it considering the return on investment was astronomical. Of course this might have created more legal issues with Origin - their lawyers would have probably taken it all.
In any regard, why kill a tool when there are so many adept people willing to run with it and carry on his legacy? It makes as much sense as Brian pulling the plug on Coders. Why, when so many would have been happy to carry it on in his name? To each their own I suppose.
But yeah, I've become a little jaded to the threats while also feeling empathetic to Cheffe's plight. I would hate to see EasyUO go away but I will grudgingly adapt if I have to.

sub genius !!!! .. SUB, wtf !!! lol
I suspect Cheffe could have easily charged for the tool and protected himself with a little digging, via hosting from certain countries etc. I don't think he was ever interested in the potential financial gain... he developed it purely as a freebie to the community and i applaud him for that.
All he really needs is some feedback encouraging him to hang in their again.... and he will be good to go..... but eventually the ride will be over and he should just release the code.

Dont think Twinkle McNugget knows how to use Delphi :) I found it more strange that the post was online 12 hours without any comment...
