Inactive Submissions / Maddog's Targeter
« on: February 28, 2010, 02:31:32 AM »
So as many of you know, Twinkle McNugget and I are simultaneously working on Targeting scripts, the latest editions of which are client/server versions that would allow one person to call targets and everyone else to run a "client" that would "listen" for targets and automatically assign it as your last target.

I've attached my "Client" Version sample below. Just load it into EUO and press play, it will walk you through some of the features. (*NOTE: This is just a sample of the menu, not the working version. The full version is about 75% complete as of right now). Please leave any/all feedback of things you'd like to see added, changed, etc.

Hopefully our friendly competition will end up as one awesome kickass PvP Targeter!

Enjoy!

Off Topic / Apple iPad - First Impressions
« on: January 27, 2010, 01:57:13 PM »
Just wanted to get everyone's first impressions of the much-hyped Apple iPad. If you don't know what it is, go to www.apple.com and you can't miss it on the homepage (there's a little video link at the bottom). Or you can check out www.gizmodo.com to get some tech-blog opinions.

Answer the poll and post your first impressions in the following format:

1. Pros:

2. Cons:

3. Would you buy it (if you had the money) when it is first released?

4. If no, what would make you buy it?

5. Do you like the name? If not, what is your suggestion?

6. Mac Fanboy Raving / Anti-Mac Raging (whichever you prefer to do):

Off Topic / Copyright Discussion
« on: January 21, 2010, 01:33:49 PM »
Ok, so I'm going to start with a scenario and we will let the discussion flow from there!

Let's start with some naming conventions: (for fun)
Artist/Band: The SUO Scripters
Recording Studio: Can You Hear Me Now Studio
Producers: Howe, Muchwe, & Make
Radio Station: WSUX

Quote
So, the SUO Scripters record a song titled "We Make the Scripting World Go Round" at Can You Hear Me Now Studios. Howe, Muchwe, & Make produces the album and it is later played on the WSUX radio station which is an over-the-air free public broadcasting station.

Now I'm sitting at home listening to WSUX while training Ninjitsu (perhaps). I hear this awesome song called "We Make the Scripting World Go Round"! I run over to my tape deck and the next time I hear the song on the radio, I record it so I can listen to it whenever I want!!

So, my question is, did I do something illegal by recording it off the radio? Let's hear what people have to say!! Then we will step this conversation up to the next level!

Scripting Chat / Script Suggestion for anyone up to the task!
« on: December 14, 2009, 07:02:09 PM »
So, I was trying to whip up a quick "pulp to blank scroll" script for a friend, and I remember hearing about a script that had support for all the crafting gumps that you call like this:

CraftItem %tooltype A B

where:
%tooltype = type of tool you're crafting with
A = category to click (1=LAST TEN, 2 through 10=each category on that particular menu)
B = selection to click (1-10=first page, 11-20=second page (if there is one), etc; the script handles clicking "next page" until it gets to the right one)

However, the person who wrote this script made it rely on ANOTHER script that handles the gumps. Currently, it doesn't seem to work if you pick "10" as the item selection. I imagine this may have to do with poor coding or the updates to the crafting gumps.

Sooooo.....Who's up for the task of writing one from scratch that has it's own gump handling and it up-to-date with all the current menus?! I simply do not have the time to do it myself, but I'd be more than happy to test and offer guidance!

I know someone out there is bored and looking for an awesome project..... ;D

Off Topic / WINTER/CHRISTMAS AVATAR CONTEST!!! READ DETAILS INSIDE!!
« on: December 04, 2009, 11:34:08 AM »
So, as you all may know, we like to generally have a random avatar "contest" where we all change our avatars to a specific genre/subject (for example: BOOBS) and then we make a thread and compliment each other and vote who has the best. So, starting immediately, change your avatar to something that meets the following criteria:

Winter/Christmas related

This is a very "open-ended" category. It could be a picture of something funny under a Christmas tree, a picture of a woman wearing nothing but snow (to cover up) and a santa hat, I don't really care what it is as long as it relates to winter!

Roughly the week before Christmas, I will compile a list of the best ones and place a poll in this thread so that everyone can vote. Not sure what the reward will be, maybe just some Karma points from myself and a few others! hehe! Maybe billions of UO gold, who knows! (Ok, well I can guarantee it won't be billions of UO gold unless someone wants to donate!)

Anyways, get in the holiday spirit and let's see some HOLIDAY HOES!...Uh, I meant, Holiday Avatars!!  8)

Good luck, and Happy Holidays!

P.S. Just a reminder, they must still be "clean," they can be suggestive, but no nudity!!

VOTING TIME!

UOMaddogs' Script Library / Maddog's Explosion Pot Chucker
« on: October 25, 2009, 07:31:41 PM »
PURPOSE:
This script will attempt to chuck an Explosion pot at your last target. It holds the cursor until the last split second then throws it so it can be used to target people on the run. If the target is not within range, then the pot will be thrown on the ground so you don't take damage.

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Set the hotkey to whatever you want
- To determine valid hotkeys, visit: http://wiki.easyuo.com/index.php/OnHotKey
- Press Play and use hotkey to activate!
- Do NOT do anything until after the pot has been thrown! This usually takes 2.8 seconds so it can be thrown on the ground

VERSION HISTORY:
Version 1.0
- Initial script release
- Auto-targets last target
- If target is out of range, throws pot on the ground 3 tiles away

Off Topic / ExpanDrive...
« on: September 28, 2009, 03:53:43 PM »
So, my college only allows you to access your "network drive" while you're connected to the school network. If you want to access if off-campus, you have to use an SSH program. After speaking with my Computer Engineering professor, he said that we should be able to SSH tunnel into the server and use Windows' built in "Map Network Drive" function to get it to work. I've been playing around with it for hours and haven't gotten in working...

However, I came across a program called ExpanDrive that has a 30-day free trial. It works awesome! Simply download/install and it asks for the server, your username and password, and that's it! It connected perfectly and mapped the network drive so I can access it in Windows through My Computer.

Now, being the cheapskate that I am, I want to figure out how to do this withOUT this program (unless someone wants to pay $40 for me or send me a license key haha). If the program can do it, I should be able to (I know, cocky, but logical!)

Here are the details that you need to know:
The network server is: dragon.ycp.edu
and we connect with a username and password (obviously not just gonna post it here)

If someone can give me a step by step on how to tunnel in and access it, I'd be greatly in your debt!!

Thanks in advance!!

Off Topic / Need new wallpaper!!
« on: September 25, 2009, 01:06:42 AM »
Ok, so now that I have 3 22" monitors running at 1680x1050 apiece, I need a new desktop background (wallpaper) that will span all 3!! Anyone that has really go photoshop skills, this is your cue! Or anyone that knows of awesome sites for finding good wallpapers (I already checked the obvious ones like DeviantArt.com)! I like all kinds of things, but tend to like geometric or funky designs for my wallpapers. If anyone is interested, let me know!!!

Design Specs:
5040 x 1050 (Width x Height)

Thanks,
UOMaddog

P.S. I've attached a sample!

Off Topic / Computer Desk
« on: September 15, 2009, 11:24:38 AM »
So I just made another large investment into my computer setup. I now have 3 22" Dell monitors (1 SP2208WFP 22" monitor w/ webcam in the middle; 2 P2210 22" monitors on either side) and a lonely 19" Asus monitor as well. I have a corner work area that consits of two desks with a gap in the corner (where my desktop tower sits). For those of you that want pictures, I have attached them below.

I would like to either purchase a desk or build a desk to fit in this area. I have sketched the dimensions and possible layouts below. I would like some advice on what desk to get, or what building materials to use. I'm trying to keep it fairly cheap and I don't care THAT much about looks!

Thanks for any and all input!!!

You can barely see the corner of the other desk on the right hand side of the picture:

Scripting Chat / LOL
« on: September 09, 2009, 09:19:07 PM »
Thought everyone might enjoy this post on the EUO forums. In case you didn't know, CEO is now withholding EUO to the general public for 3 days after the new version is released. Only members of his Alexandria freeshard will get it on "release day".

Quote from: BritBare
So CEO, you say that your objective is to get people playing on your shard, yet you've explicitly stated that all they have to do is create a character and click a link at luna bank. I do not see how this really accomplishes anything. If anything, it creates a bunch of unused accounts taking up server space.

Stunts like this are exactly why people enjoy using ScriptUO, which will be fully functional in the near future. EUO is not the only program out there. Most of what can be done in EUO can be done with Razor as well as with UOAI and other projects. EUO has the potential to become a truly great platform, but because both you and Cheffe are unwilling to truly make it OPEN source, you're tying your own hands and sealing your own fates. You try to pretend that you are all "noble" here since you don't allow scripts that take advantage of skill timer avoidance, or other such things, but EUO is just as much cheating as any skill timer avoidance or dupe or anything else. You can think you're a "Robin Hood" all you want, but you're just as much a cheater as any generic speed hacker. Remember, the fact that you host your own server is a direct violation of the terms of service of UO!

Just my two cents....

Scripting Languages / Java frames, panels, etc.
« on: September 05, 2009, 05:40:16 PM »
Ok, so this semester I'm taking an advanced programming class. Basically data structures and algorithms. We've done all previous programming in C, Verilog, and other assembly languages, but now we're making the jump to Java. Our first assignment is implementing a game called Nim (look it up on Wikipedia). I already wrote sufficient code to run the entire program (albeit it was as close to C as I could possibly get), but we can earn extra points for extra features, such as:
1. error check - already implemented!
2. use classes/objects for each part (instead of programming it like C) - I haven't really messed with this too much yet
3. make graphical representation of the heaps if using the console as output - skipping this due to part 5
4. ability to pay against a computer opponent - I know how, but haven't really done anything with it yet
5. make a GUI in which to play the game - THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO!

So....focusing on part 5:
I have read numerous documents/tutorials on creating/using GUI's. The major problems I am having is with LayoutManagers, Buttons, Panes vs Containers, and Actions. I'll attach the code I have so far below.  I get how to create new labels and such, but the Layout is really messed up. I currently am using a setLayout(null) so that I can manually place everything. This isn't a huge deal since the window is set set as not resizable.  Basically I would like a window that looks like the one below. You can kind of see where I'm at by comparing my code (should compile and everything, if not, I'm using Eclipse SDK v3.5.0) to my image. I do not have the initialization in there yet though. Basically I will have a series of showInputDialog messages that will ask how many heaps they want to start with and then ask the max number of stones in a heap. Probably will just have it randomly assign a number of stones in each heap (up to the max).

So...after all that explanation and rambling...I would like some advice/samples on how to make the buttons "do stuff", and advice on how to layout the window (whether I should use a Layout Manager and if so, which one OR just place everything explicitly). Any and all help is appreciated!

Thanks,
UOMaddog
