Title: EUO Tile Issue Workaround
Post by: Tommy Boy on March 21, 2012, 03:48:37 PM
It seems you can simply copy & paste the mapxx.mul files from an unpatched installation and the scripts that use tile info and commands will work again.

Both my mining scripts and CyberPope's Mining Radar weren't working.  I copied the mapxx.mul files into my patched UO Classic folder and so far all tile related scripts are working as intended.

Hope this helps,

Tommy Boy

Now that's a tasty tidbit of information!  Thanks, Tommy!  Let's see if others have the same luck.

This will work until they (EA,OSI, Whatever they are called) change something in order to foil us once again or they add new art and it shifts everything by 1. But that should be a bit and by then Cheffe might have it fixed.

Perhaps someone can analyze the new file format, and create a converter to re-create the required .mul files?

I can't remember exactly where it was that I read it, but I seen where someone described the .uop files as simply a "wrapper" or perhaps maybe "container" and that the .mul files are contained in their entirety inside.

Anything you find, please post it.  There's lots of talented peeps here that might be able to deconvolve the wrapper.  :)

Crome posted a link at EUO, but it's such a large file that (>300MB) it doesn't work.

I would need a place to host them, unfortunately I don't have a spot.

I'd say we could use a dropbox, but that would require some trust :)

I would like to formally object to TM's use of words outside my vocabularly.  "Deconvolve" is just showing off.  I'm not even sure that's a thing.

(Also, kudos to the OP!)

interesting it looks like the names of the map files were also changed.  Does anyone that has had the successful experience of the way we want to type the old name and then the new name of each file to swap in a short list?  id hate to screw it up.

I just tried re-naming mine, but the game just insta crashed on start up lol.  IDK what to do, my friends UO still uses the old file names, but the one I downloaded dont :c

Use Neo's MUL converter:  http://www.scriptuo.com/index.php?topic=11071.msg93865#msg93865

This takes the newly introduced UOP files and converts them into the MUL files that EasyUO uses for tile thingies.  This is really the preferred method, because any map changes will be converted to keep your MUL files fresh and crispy.

Someone also put their MUL files up into dropbox.  I don't know if these work.  http://www.scriptuo.com/index.php?topic=9536.msg82000#msg82000

It Only would work if map doesnt update or that user Update. Still Neos method is best. Patch , convert , play :)

This link should work for the old files.
