Title: Client Art Patcher
Post by: Cerveza on January 12, 2012, 07:05:48 AM
Does anyone want to pick this up?

Kalaka hasn't been logged in since Oct, and wasn't keeping updated prior to that.

It would be killer to have someone pick this up.

I'd say as a starting point for changing graphics:

Static tiled fields.. Fire - orange, Poison - Green, Para - White, Energy - Purple
Bolas - Changed to the color teal where it was brown
Various Trees/Gravestones - all changed to stumps to denote blocking terrain.
Traps - highlighted plus made easier to tell tile.
Wall of Stone shortened

Other things might include changing Dragon graphic to Blackthorne, etc...

Well, we're actually looking long term commitment.

Usually each patch it would have to be updated. Or at least anytime any of the mul files are updated.

Thanks though.

Might be a good starting point for whomever takes this on. Has been working for quite a long time now.

Do you know if what you have is based on a commercial patcher?  There are a few out there, but not many that are free.

I would gladly do it, I just can't do it consistently because of work and time constraints. If anyone wants to learn though, I'll be more than happy to walk them through everything they need to know!

I will gladly make it available to anyone who wishes to work it.

I would personally love to take a swing at it with MadDogs guidance but I simply do not have enough hours in a day to take care of it.

Anyone have a link that could help someone figure out this kind of stuff?  I'd like to read-up and learn a bit about it.

I could walk you through it - but a great site is

www.burningsheep.ch
and as far as I have been able to tell the executables are clean.

I have followed the directions on the site that Gimlet posted about and I created a patch that makes fields static, turns all trees / blocking items into stumps, and highlights the dungeon traps.  These were all simply downloads from that site, and then patched into the .mul files by following the directions.

Was very easy to do.  I will let the "powers that be" decide if I post up the .mul files or not.....

TM? Cerv?

I think legally we cannot allow whole files or modified whole files that are authored by EA to be posted.  Now if there are differential patches that are subsets, or rules to perform the patches, those won't contain the original content and would be acceptable.

So until we can come up with a patcher that does:
1) Uses local copy of .mul file
2) Received differential patch information
3) Transforms local .mul file into "patched" .mul

I doubt we can legally have the information publicly available.

When I get a chance, I'll do a full write-up on how to do all the mods. It's rollout week for our client's Android app, so I'm gonna be busy for the next couple weeks. I'll try to write it up in my spare time!

Since the mul files were moved into the uopackages of Enhanced Client i think there will come a hard time for all uofans if they enjoy runuo\easyuo\uofiddler\clientpatches in future..

Seems like not all files were inherited into the uop package. So it could be possible, that those needed files are left.

Has anyone been able to figure this out? My guildie had made one for the old art mul files that we all used, unfortunately even he has not been able to figure it out. He said there is a way going through the "stealth" client (not sure what that means) but he said to ask you guys here if anyone had made one or if its even possible. I see no one has posted in quite some time but we are all getting frustrated trying to cast fields in between para fields when they are blocked by those high para fields. UO is so rediculous. Anyways figured I'd ask :).. Happy Easter everyone

When EA went to the uop archive all the mul edits were no longer available. Until someone comes up with a uop to mul and mul to uop converter we are stuck.

Stealth may work but I have not played with it for a bit so no clue. Others at this site are much more knowledgeable about other clients. (look through topics list to find) or start here

Actually you can Edit UOP by using http://code.google.com/p/mondains-legacy/downloads/detail?name=Mythic%20Package%20Editor%20v1.03.zip&can=2&q= . But how to you need to learn by yourself. I never edited those:P
