Chrome,

Thank you for your reply.  I am trying to get the guild title without it being displayed in my name.

IE, I am in a guild, but I am hiding it in game.  The tooltip does not contain the guild tag.  If I don't hide it, then I can see it in Stealth, but then I am announcing to the world what guild owns this bot.

I am trying to find a way to get the guild tag from within stealth, but without it showing in game.

You know, you can get a free Windows VPS from amazon for a year.

Howdy,

I am reviewing the docs for character reference.

I see that it is possible to get the character name, and the Tooltip, but not the Guild by itself.  It seems possible to get the guild from the tooltip, but only if your character has the guild title turned on.

What I am looking for, is a function that will tell me what my own guild is, regardless of the guild tag showing or not in game.  Would such a function be possible?  Does anybody have some working logic they would share, or perhaps this could be a feature request? (if the appropriate devs are here)

Ideally, the function would work like the one listed below, but would return my guild rather than my name.

Thanks Much!

function CharName():String

The new function might be somthing like this:

The possible demise of Steam is what brought me to this forum.... looking for alternatives. Like I said, I really love it.... but I don't want my guild and I to be caught with our pants down if it goes away.

Has there been any word if anybody is going to at least patch it to maintain functionality?  Or any word of upcoming protocol changes that could break it?  It has been my understanding that Razor is also effectively *dead*... but it still "sorta" works.  For that matter, RunUO is technically abandoned too... but I don't see it going away any time soon.

I play exclusivity on a free shard, but it is one that always stays current.... so anything known would be good to hear.

Thanks!

Please do yourself, and your neighbors a favor, and avoid Broadband Powerline devices if at all possible. They do terrible, terrible things to other users of the radio spectrum.

Fortunately, they aren't too popular these days, largley because of these issues, and because regular old 802.11 b/g/a/ac are much easier to implement.

To original topic, my wife loves Chromecast.  AppleTV is pretty slick too.  Either will work well for Netflix.... but Roku probably gives you more flexibility for tasks other than simple streaming.  I would not recommend chrome cast if you don't have android phones.

I use UO Steam for interactive stuff, and EasyUO or Open Easy UO for heaving lifting (anything totally automated and complex)

I do usem the in conjunction to run looters.  UOS is amazing for quick dirty stuff. Its biggest limitation is that it only runs one script at a time... which is perfect for PVP/PVM macros, but not so great for running advanced looters, miners, ect.

I am really looking forward to playing with Stealth... I see great potential there.... but I suspect I will still like Steam better for when I am actively playing.

I think everyone in my guild uses Steam as well.

For what its worth, I also use UO Steam, as well as EasyUO, and OpenEasyUO.

They are all portable, in that you can install them all under the same directory structure, and then zip up the entire directory structure to copy them to a thumbdrive for a backup in case an update breaks something, or in case you want to copy everything to another PC. Just throw a copy of that pesky Microsoft dependency in the folder to install if you are going to run it from a new computer.

Cartographer is slightly trickier, but it lives in the same folder as well. The trick is that it has some files that need copied into the user profile the first time it is run on a new machine.

My UO folder lives on my desktop, with subfolders for the game itself, and each scripting engine. I never update anything without creating a zip file of the entire mess first, and I have never broken it and not been able to easily recover.

Howdy.

Many years ago, the Glorious Lord SuperTom (My Brother) invited me to play Ultima Online on the ABCUO freeshard.  I joined him in conquest in the days predating Imbuing, and before the coming of the Samurai lands.  It was a difficult age to be a newbie, Razor was the only scripting engine available (that I knew of), but I didn't use it... I used book on keyboard macros playing as a Necro/Dexer.  Many hours where spent doing battle from my Slackware computer, running UO under wine.

The shard had no trammel at that time, so I would frequently be PKed before I knew what was happening.  Occollo was the new player town, and the guard zone was very small.  I took up Taming, and killing Travesty with my guild, MR Crazy and SuperTom.  I was able to find a talisman, and with much hard work, I managed to tame an amazing Hyru (they spawned in the lost land at that time).  The Hyru was glorious.... AntiTrust would dismount me to PK me, and the Hyru would kill him.  Good times.  Then I got married, and my account decayed.... and I was so upset about loosing my hundreds of hours of taming I swore I would never play again.

Fast Forward  to two years ago.  Again, the Glorious Lord SuperTom drags me back into the fold at ABCUO, but this time he becomes mostly inactive, being distracted by the terrible world of Warcraft.  So I leave his guild, the Luna Knights, and study under my new mentors in CBL guild.  Quickly, with the advent of imbuing, My Mage, Kahless, is far more powerful than any character ever was the first time I entered this fine world, but I still am missing something.  So Kortar, my Vamp Bushido Dexer is born.  A dexer who can easily solo anything the abyss has to offer (except the mighty slasher).  I am now the monster under the bed that gives the Fire Deamons nightmares.  I also learn of powerful new tools of battle, in the form of EasyUO, OpenEUO, and UOS.  I am in love with the power of UOS...  but I feared of its possible demise, so I began searching for a replacement.  My search has led me to this fine community.  I am intrigued by everything this group of adventures has to offer.  Better scripts, more powerful scripting, a headless client for my lonely bot that runs in the Amazon Cloud if I can port her.  Perhaps adequate performance for her to have a sister.  I am highly intrigued by the apparent ability to script in Python, a language I have wanted to learn for years, but have not had a project for.  If only I could script in UO in bash... but I digress.

I run a teamspeak server for my guild, if anybody wants to drop by for a chat, PM me and Ill send you the address.  I hope that you will have me as a member of your community, and that this will be the opportunity to learn a new language, and take my scripting to the next level.  I love scripting in borne shell, but have much to learn about UO scripting before my fun scripts can be nearly as useful as the ones I build at work.  Hopefully, this community will be able to help me bridge that gap.  If there are any truly spectacular examples of documentation I should read first, or read again and again, I hope you will point me in their direction.

For those who are wondering, when I am not in the lands of Britannia, I am a Senior System Administrator for medium sized company, and a HAM Radio operator... president of my Radio club in Pittsburgh.  I look forward to seeing you in the forums, and perhaps even on the shard!
