General UO Chat / Using the Halloween Transformation to your advantage.

I figured out the first tip the day that the Halloween quest went live on Origin. I shared with some of the Elite's here and they said to keep it under wraps. Today TopTwo and I agreed that it is too close to the end to sit on it any longer.

Since you are invulnerable when you are transformed for the Halloween quest except to the creatures that saw you transform you can do several interesting things while you are transformed.

Here is what I was able to put together so far.

1. You can tame whatever you want and it will not eat you. You will get the message that you have angered the beast but it won't attack you.

2. Walk through the quicksand area at Twisted Weald without getting attacked by the changelings on your way to gather Dreadhorn keys

3. Mark runes in dangerous areas without getting eaten.

4. You can heal the transformed Gypsies while transformed yourself. Be careful for creatures that damage with an aura, such as many mobs in Ice dungeon and their area cold damage.

5. Use the transformation to become invulnerable for accessing Sanctuary, or to get into the exodus dungeon for the Spellweaving quest.

There is a thread in the Elite section about this that I don't have access to so if there is something I've missed that you feel like sharing feel free to add it here.

Off Topic / Questions About Version Numbers

I'm confused about the numbering system that people use for the scripts.
I mean I understand that version 1 is older than version 2 but how do you decide when to change a version number.
Is it every time you fix a bug and resubmit your script or do you wait and gather a few issues and fix them all at once?
If you do a change to a few subs to streamline them is that worth a jump from say version 1 to version 2?

Scripting Chat / Puzzle Boards

This post is about making a script to solve the puzzle boards.

If EUO can be used to check the color of pixels in certain locations then the script should be straight forward.
(Please keep in mind that I don't know how to use the scripting language to do anything so the steps are going to be simplistic.)

Prep for writing the script.
Get an item identifier for the puzzle token.
Open a puzzle and measure all the necessary positions relative to a corner of the puzzle? Some way to determine where the script should look for colors and also where to find the rows and the up or down clickers as well as the button that turns it in. The timer is 30 minutes but I'm not sure how long this measuring would take. For the colored dots the actual position of the color would suffice but for the bars I'd say measuring halfway between the dot positions would be the way to go.



1)Scan for the puzzle token

2)Click the token to open the puzzle box

3)Move the box to a set location.

4) Scan for colors in positions to recognize the puzzle that needs to be solved. Go to correct solution for that puzzle

5) Solution for board 1
      Here would be the correct clicks to solve board 1

6) Solution for board 2
      Here would be the correct clicks to solve board 2

etc.

22) Solution for board 16
      Here would be the correct clicks to solve board 16

End the script.


I'm not sure how fast OCR is but I'd think that doing the prep work to find the colors in the positions would be a one time effort and would cut down on computing time overall.




You know I might have just found a script that is easy enough for me to attempt to write it.

When I set up my CLAw loot rules this is what I came up with and I also use this for evaluating loot from treasure chest. I turn CLAw off when I open the chest so that it doesn't bring a bunch of spawn I'm not ready for out of the chest. Throw everything from the chest into a bagball in my back pack and then sort through it with the CLAw into my loot bag later after I'm safe. Usually I can get everything from the chest into the bagball if I use the BOS to get the gold in the bank.

Any armor over 55 total resist I loot to enhance with my crafter.

LRC med armor with 16+ and resist over 40 gets enhanced as well.

LRC non med armor needs to be 16+ and have resist in the upper 40's.

Mana Regeneration I look for anything with 2 MR on it and loot that.

I try to enhance anything that has at least 70 luck on it. If it is a ring or bracelet I look for luck higher than 85 since it can't be enhanced. A piece of jewelry with high luck and other desirable attributes can be very valuable.

Damage Increase I look for over 40. I think the max is 50.

Another thing I look for is spell channeling weapons with some luck on them. Very rarely I see a SC weapon without the -FC penalty with luck.....I tremble every time I blow one of them up trying to enhance it. And I've blown every single one I've found to smithereens.

Some weapons will have spell damage that they hit. I look for lightning or fireball above 30% for selling to PVPers.

For weapons that have Life or Mana leech I look for numbers in the 40+ range if there is only one attribute and if the weapon has  both I am looking for one of them to be in the high 30's or both in the mid 20s and up.

If I get a super slayer I keep it and I will occasionally keep an Ogre or Dragon Slayer weapon as well.
   
Swing Speed Increase is desirable on fast weapons and only moderately desirable on slower weapons.
My favorite bow for training Archery is a 50% SSI repeating crossbow.

Defense Chance Increase is good on dexxer jewelry to help keep them alive. So I look for numbers above the 17-18 range.

Faster Casting with Faster Casting Recovery is desirable in the 1/3 range or the 1/2 if there is another caster stat like spell damage increase or lower mana cost.

Hit Chance Increase over 12 when it is also on the ring with DCI can be valuable.

Skill Bonuses are only really useful for a few skills. Anything that is a pain to raise such as Animal Taming or Provocation can be really nice since not everyone spends the time to raise those skills. Or if it combines some skills that a template might use. Like Musicianship with Provocation or Peacemaking etc.

I loot Gold, Gems, Bandages, Treasure Maps and reagents with CLAw.

In addition to these I have the CLAw looting all Magery, Necro, and Spellweaving scrolls.

What am I forgetting? Am I missing something that is high end and not realizing it with these guidelines?

I am hoping to someday be granted "Elite" status so I can get my grubby little paws on the rules for combining attributes for looting.

Perhaps we can get a list going of what to watch out for and it will help others set up their loot list as well.
