General UO Chat / Gaining Faction Points for Arties
« on: February 12, 2012, 01:30:32 PM »
Can we collaborate on farming faction points.  I use a sampire that has faction artifacts, and am getting low on points.  I know, I know...  I should get them the way that was inteneded, but what's the fun in that?

  • How do we use a thief to farm points?
  • Is there a way to farm still with having multiple chars in opposing factions? And how?
  • What's the easiest way?

Thanks in advance!

I'm starting off the new year with a new rig.  I don't really play any graphics intense games, but would like to be more than able to do so if I wanted to.  I hate feeling like my system may not be able to handle it.  So I have done extensive research and want to see if this stuff will work together.  I know it's probably overkill , but that's how I roll.  Just need a second set of eyes in case i'm over looking something.  Thanks in advance.

UO-Related Tutorials / Travesty Made Easy - Seeriusly

Solo Travesty with Disco Tamer & Necro Weaver

Interested in collecting Marks of Travesty?  Or are you just tired of being able to solo everything BUT Travesty?  It's no big deal really...  I do this on 2 computers...  And have done it hundreds of times with ease.  You could use 2 clients on one computer just as easily.  If you know Travesty, and you know when she spawns ninjas and Black Order Assassins/Mages...  I can get her down to that amount of life before the room keys expire.I have been reluctant to give out my secret, but nobody is ever doing Travesty anymore, and I noticed a request on the SUO boards for a walkthrough.  So here it is in all it's glory. Once I got through writing this entire walkthrough, I decided... WOW this makes it sound so hard to do.  It isn't hard...  But it may take you a couple times to get it right, just be patient.

What you will need to kill Travesty.

2 Characters:

1 Tamer- with at least:
120 music
120 disco
110 Taming
110 Lore

This character won't do anything but set the dragon and disco Travesty.  You really don't need disco, but speeds it up a few minutes.
Might as well have a luck statue and a luck suit to change into before Travesty dies.

1 Mage-  (Variations in skill caps may still work out, this is what I use.)
120 Mage, Med, Eval Int, Necro, Spellweaving, SpiritSpeak

Your mage should be equipped with the following:
-High SDI ( I use the 30% SDI, MR3 General Spellbook from the invasion event) + ring + HOM + POM
-High Mana Regen ( as much as possible always helps )
-As much lower Mana cost as possible
-As much Mana/INT as possible always helps too.
-A level 6 spellweaving focus
-Spellweaving spells: Attunement, Gift of Life & Renewal, Arcane Empowerment, Word of Death
-Mage spells: Protection (at the end), Flamestrike, Energy Vortex
-Necro spells: Wraith form, Summon Familiar (wisp for mana), Corpse Skin, Wither

This character will simply empower, corpse skin, flamestrike, cast EV's and heal dragon with gift of renewal.  But when Travesty is almost dead, the mage is who kills her.  I will explain that in a bit.

You will also need 1 Trained Greater Dragon.
And you will need to obtain the quest "Black Order Badges" from Sarakki the Notary outside of Britain's Library to gain access to the Citadel.

The Citadel Entrance

There will be a crate somewhere near these 2 buildings which moves around a little bit, but is in this vicinity.  Click the crate to enter the Citadel.

Collecting the keys:
You will need a Yellow Key, Blue Key, and a Red Key to enter Travesty's Room.  They look like ship keys, just different hues.

Where to find these keys:

Yellow Key:
-- Click hidden door at yellow 1>
-- Go down the stairs at yellow 2>
-- Kill Black Order High Executioner at yellow 3> for chance at yellow key drop

Blue Key:
-- Click switch at blue  1>  (I use telekinesis instead of running back and forth from door)
-- Click hidden door at blue <2
-- Head down stairs at blue 3>
-- Click hidden door at blue 4>
-- Kill Black Order Master Thief at blue 5> for chance at blue key drop

Red Key:  Learn the map, cause it's a nightmare getting through if you aren't prepared for what's down those halls.  Leave your dragon inside the Citadel at the front, and relog to get it to come back to the red key room.
-- Click hidden door at red 1>
-- Get ready to run, invis, peacemake, or something to save your ass, cause it ain't pretty to the next area. go down stairs at red 2a> and haul ass to red 3> and click door fast.
-- RUN to red 4> and dive down stairs
-- Take a breather, heal up, use honor, precast invis and RUN down stairs at red 5> and invis when you get to red 6> . this is where you want to relog to get your dragon back. There will be mages popping out all over the place.  Kill the Grand Mage at red 6> for a chance at the red key.  His corpse will say "human corpse"

Once you have all the keys, and are ready to fight Travesty.
-- From the red key room take the hidden door right there and go up the stairs at the green <1
-- Head up stairs at Green 2>
-- Party up your other chars, and drop keys on the table at green <3

And you're in!  WHEW!

I usually hide both chars and the dragon before clicking okay to enter Travesty's lair.  You can either party your characters, or just give them each a key to get in.  It is impossible to do Travesty with only one of those characters, so DON'T FORGET!

Here is where it gets a little tricky, and if you screw it up, it's over.  Might as well just leave and try again.  If Travesty sees you, you will be turned to fairy dust. Not really, but you catch my drift.  There is a certain distance to where you can get to, and not let Travesty see you, yet you can still cast spells on her and she won't come after you.  It is pretty much at the red dresser seen in the pic. STAY BEHIND THAT IMAGINARY LINE! OR ITS OVER!

THIS NEXT STEP IS VITAL!!!

With your tamer, run up to imaginary line with all kill target up and ready to hit control+shift and target Travesty's Tag.
IMMEDIATELY say, "ALL STOP" then "ALL STAY" then "ALL FOLLOW" Target Travesty, then "ALL KILL" Target Travesty.

If you don't do this, your dragon will run off when Travesty invises, causing her to chase the dragon and commense to ripping your characters up.  This is the most important part of this technique!!  If you can't set the dragon, and Travesty moves from the center spot, like i said, just leave.  And come back to try again because you will never make it work. (unless she doesn't spot your chars which is unlikely, and fatal with a bard around.)

Once you have your dragon locked on her, take your mage... walk up one tile at a time, while trying to target travesty. You need to get on the farthest tile away while still being able to cast spells on her. (the imaginary line) Once you are in range, this is your task.

The mage's task:
--  Keep EV's up at all times to kill off Travesty's Mirror Images
--  Cast Gift of Renewal on Dragon and heal as needed.
--  In Wraith Form, cast arcane empowerment (for SDI bonus), corpse skin, and then flamestrike her until empowerment expires.  Repeat these steps until she is ready for Word Of Death.
She is ready for WOD when her life passes the "t" in her life bar.

These steps are vital also.
--  Take your tamer towards the entrance of the Lair, and keep them hidden until Travesty's dead.  Don't forget to keep the tamer hidden.
--  Once Travesty is ready for WOD there are some preparations you will need to make before she jumps, and spawns all her buddies.
--  Make sure you can cast gift Of Renewal on your Dragon before Travesty runs off. Or it will not make it.
--  Cast 2 fresh Energy Vortex on Travesty
--  Cast Gift Of Life on your mage in case you eat bamboo gozas, or once again, it may be over.
--  Cast Attune, empower, make sure protection is on, RIGHT before she jumps and spawns ninjas, cast your last WOD and get ready to chase her and cast WOD until she dies.  If you can't do this in time, she will gain life, and spawn ninjas again, and again, so dont let her out of your sight.

Here she is about to jump away, and spawn her little buddies:

Your dragon will follow her, but will be getting attacked by 6-8 other assasins, mages, and ninjas.  You should hide so everything attacks dragon, then WOD Travesty until she's dead.

As you can see, My dragon died in the first pic because I had my tamer near, and she discod my mage. All hell broke loose for a minute.

And there you have it.  Looks harder than it really is, but it's easy for me.  You can now be on your way to collecting the Marks of Travesty.

**TIPS**
--  KILL all the spawn, in case you are coming back in for another round.  There are 4 elite ninjas, and 4 assasin/mages total 8 reds that spawn.  If you don't kill Travesty in time, she spawns 8 more, and 8 more and so on.

--  There are quest items, that can only be found in Travesty's Lair.  They look like a Bulk Order Deed, and are found along the West hallway.  When you pick the first one, wait and there may be another one that instantly spawns somewhere around there also.  If you do more than one Travesty in a row, only one will spawn. Click that and take it to Sarakki the Notary outside of Britain's Library.

--  ALSO: The "Orders of Minax" can be used ONCE per character.  It's loot from Travesty and can be turned in as a quest item to Sarakki. You have to accept a quest from her to do so. Mark the orders as quest item, and turn in for 3 boxes of junk, sometimes it's pretty good junk though.

--  I usually take another warrior character to the key drop table.  You can hand keys over the water if you are in the right spot. Just speeds it up, and it's hell getting through the halls sometimes, i'd just assume to set it up that way, but I'm lazy like that.

Let us know how it goes!

This is the technique I use to gain in the Virtue of Sacrifice with my Tamer.  Why would you NOT want free self resurrections?

Benefits:
  • Knight of Sacrifice lets you self resurrect multiple times a week, for those emergencies or just simply conveinience.
  • You are a god on a ship in the middle of the sea, when Osiredon the Scalis Enforcer just ganked everyone on board, and nobody's left alive to resurrect! haha
  • Sacrifice is very usefull when you are doing peerless perhaps or somewhere where you cannot resurrect.
  • Also if you can't get your corpse, because it brings all your belongings back to you wherever it is you resurrect.
  • Your Greater Dragon will be fully trained in no time. Haven't used other pets, but i'm sure cu's or any higher end tamable would train up just as well. They need to be able to stand their own ground if you don't want to stay attended. Greater dragons seem to do fine with 2 demons, they don't get damaged enough to ever worry about.
  • The Virtue Dungeon Item drop is just another bonus.  Each night (6-10 hours) yields a couple pieces of virtue armor.
  • You can use unattended for hours at a time.
  • You can do this attended and gain Honor virtue at the same time if you're feeling froggy.  Which is also very usefull for a tamer.  Succubi is best for gaining Sacrifice/Honor because of their 24000 Fame/Karma Cap.  Because you can get to "Knight of Sacrifice quicker by being able to build up more every 24 hours.

You can gain in sacrifice easily, you just need to build your fame up over and over and sacrifice once a day.

Find a spot where 2 demons spawn, or some kind of mob that has around -15000 fame.  You can do less but this will let you build for several hours.

First I claim my pet and say:

"all follow me
 all guard me"

This seems to only work when you say this before you go to your fame building location.  You recall in and let the monsters target you, then invis when your pet automatically attacks them.

In the meantime do not command your pet, just let them do their guarding.  If you give them other commands, eventually you won't gain fame when it kills it automatically.  I haven't figured out completely why it happens, or how i could correct it when i'm in there, so I just say it before I recall in cause it works!

You need to be hidden, not magically, you need to use the Hiding Skill, which is why you would have to be human to do this... Or a hiding tamer?  I use JOAT advantage to eventually hide, usually takes several attempts. Just keep using invis until you can manage to hide.

Once you are hidden, your pet will keep attacking the mobs when they spawn.  You will continue to gain fame until you have reached the mobs fame level.  I use Tram Dungeons, and never get revealed.

For example:
If you are using 2 demons, they have -15000 fame.  You will gain up to 15000 Fame and Karma.
Succubi are worth 24000 Fame/Karma.  But don't suggest doing succubi unattended.

You can sacrifice your Fame every 24 hours.
I'm totally guessing, but probably not too far off...  probably takes 4 or more hours to gain 15k points from 2 demons.
Monitor every now and then by choosing "loyalty rating" from left clicking your toon once for menu gump.
Once you have reached 15000 points of Fame, or 24000 Fame from succubi you are ready to sacrifice.
Stable your pet and have a rune near your closest safest succubi.
Click your virtue gump on the top of your paperdoll, Click the Sacrifice Icon (tear drop shape, left),
OR make a macro in UO options to "invoke virtue / Sacrifice"
Sacrifice your points by targeting a succubi.
You cannot use sacrifice when you are hidden, and the succubi cannot be damaged or blessed/strengthened, so run up invis next to them, then reveal yourself and click the sacrifice icon or hit macro and target succubi.  It will give you a message about sacrificing and there ya go!  Get back to farming Sacrifice when you aren't using your tamer account.

Thanks for reading, I have found this very useful, and thought that maybe someone else would find it useful too.

Scripting Chat / Menu Design... How and When to count resources gathered
« on: February 01, 2011, 05:20:23 AM »
Looking at trying my first menu for my High Seas Land Fisher Script.  Just for practice.  I am wondering how to go about counting the fish, etc. it gathers.

Do you count each time the journal tells you?
For example. "you pull out a fish: green catfish"

Have the menu add one green catfish then?

OR

Count them as you dump in bank?

Personally i think it would be easier to add them as journal finds them.  But that's just my opinion given my limited coding experience.

Seems to me that it would be harder to differentiate the 3 different names of the same colors of fish, as I still haven't been able to conquer property types and colors.  I want it to be fast as possible though.  Any thoughts or recommendations?

Trying to establish fail safe for my script.

Would this be sufficient enough to make sure bank box opens, and if it doesn't to recall to next rune?

Code: [Select]
sub drop_loot_at_bank
repeat
   set !Currentrune2 !Currentrune2 + 1
   gosub recalltobank
   wait 40
   msg bank$
   wait 20
until #contsize = 180_240  ;<<< bank box gump size
   gosub droploot
return

Thank you for your time!

UO-Related Tutorials / Semi-Unattended Fishing Training to 85 or higher
« on: November 20, 2010, 10:04:35 AM »
Without a script that works decent right now, and with the pain of the High Seas booster making the old fish not stack anymore...  I have taken a different approach on training another fisher.  This may work for you, it may not.  It works for me pretty fast until about 85.0, just thought I'd share.  I train it on another pc, so it doesn't interfere with my other extra curricular activities.

1)  I started with 30 or so fishing trained from a fisher, located near docks.
2)  Get a fishing pole (insured) and a cheapo LRC suit (insured)
3)  Get a "Crystal Ball of Knowledge" from a vendor or do the easy Quest described here http://www.uoguide.com/A_Mystic%27s_Journey
4)  Make sure there isn't anything in your backpack that you don't want to lose,  (The crystal ball is blessed so you wont lose that.) Because when I fill up full of fish, I just poison and fireball myself so I don't have to unload fish.  Make sure suit is insured and fishing pole is too or it will just make you dig through tons of fish, or have to waste time getting another. The healers are just north west of where I will be fishing anyhow.
5)  get UOloop.exe , you can get it many places, google it.
6)  Make a UO macro for:
Last object
wait for target
target last
-set your macro key to one that can be used with uoloop, and set delay 8000
7)  Mosey on down to Buc's Den Docks
9)  With the crystal ball activated, it will tell you when gains are "too easy" "easy" "optimal" "difficult" and so forth.  You will want to start close to shore on the docks.  Where the crystal ball tells you "fishing difficulty: optimal".  As you fish there at an "optimal" location, it will become "easy" once you gain enough skill.  Just stop loop, and refish further to the east, away from shore a couple tiles, until it tells you it's "optimal" again.  You will gain when "fish aren't biting" also so just stay put until you are filled full of fish or the ball says "fishing difficulty: easy".  Run to the west, kill your character, res at healers that are right there... then go back and continue fishing.  It gives you about an hour or more until you fill up.  Once you have reached 85 skill, you will just have to gain when ball says "easy"

This may seem like a bogus way for some of you, but it gets 'r done!  8)

Hope this can be useful to someone. I have gm'd 2 chars here like this with little effort.

Scripting Chat / Posting other peoples code. Ettiquette
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:51:18 AM »
I am far from a scripter, I don't claim to be, but I can figure out how to butcher scripts and use the code to do something I want them to do.  I understand how you would feel if someone hacked up your script and posted the final result as their own.  I wouldn't do that, I would take the credit for helping the community out, but wouldn't take the credit as "The scripter".

Does that make sense??  Sorry coffee is a bit strong this morning...   :o

That being said, I would like to share some scripts I use that I have butchered.  They are for the most part, little transformations to full scripts, just slight modifications to do the everyday tedious tasks.  The slightly-above-average noob scripter can modify scripts...  But average UO players cannot.  And I would like to help contribute to the community, as little help as it is.  I have made lots of gold off some of these scripts, so I wouldn't want the average troller to come along and have a hay day like most do.  I strongly believe in the rules of making people contribute to the community in order to receive what we have to offer.  As pathetic as some of these intros are... LOL...

If this is a forbidden topic, then I will just keep them to myself.  If it's allright, then I'd like to be able to share.

In doing this, I would have to post the modified script, and any other scripts that it takes to run them... (ie rail scripts, rail makers, those sorts of things).

What is the general consensus?  Opinions??  How would I go about this?

Scripting Chat / Help with pathfind character on ship?
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:28:49 AM »
I am trying to make a fishing script that collects the new fish, and eventually will have to kill serpents too. Trying to ressurect some old fisher scripts on EUO in order to achieve this

Now that you recall in to a random spot around the mast of the ship, I want to position my character south of the ship mast. Like it used to be.  The only way I can think to do it... never mind, i just thought of the way while typing this. I think.  lol...

so to pathfind to the rear of this ship's mast

using small ship:

find tillerman coords
find location tillerman coords +  3 tiles north
pathfind to there.

instead of pathfinding to tillerman and walking 3 steps north, though either way would work.

How would I go about coding this?  Thanks in advance for any help.

General UO Chat / Patch issue
« on: November 11, 2010, 10:44:43 AM »
When we had the 7.0.10.3 patch, I took a previous client from a buddy and replaced my client.exe file so that I could work on a script since EUO wasn't updated yet. (thinking it might take longer to update)  Now that EUO is updated, I thought I could go ahead and patch my client.  Well...  UO won't patch now.  Can anyone help me out?  I have clicked all exe files in my EA Games folder (client picker, UO patch)   I'd hate to reinstall UO...  UGH!!!

And for next time, what should I do with old clients to be able to use them while EUO isn't updated?

Scripting Chat / A little script help?
« on: October 23, 2010, 02:27:12 PM »
I am working on a script to make blackpowder using another crafting script...

I don't have much experience with scripting, though I have better than average puzzle solving abilities.  I am just wondering how I can set %blackpowder AFZ , %charcoal AFZ, & %saltpeter AFZ to where the scripts knows the color since they are all the same ID.

Can anyone shed light?  thanks in advance!
