Grab your salvage hooks, if you get your boat close enough to the NPC and buy all 500 you can move a step and use your rope line to hop on to the boat and all 500 anchors will drop on to your boat instead of the ground (requires one of those new boats) it just requires good timing and some practice (Anchors weigh 25 stones each, test with like 20 at a time.. Not like me who tested with 500 at a time and got lucky the first two times and not so lucky three times after...), then take your boat to deep sea within guardzone and start hurling the hooks overboard. When the monsters spawn you can guardwhack them. Another note: you don't need to even kill the the monsters for a chance at the fishing pole, you can slow forward and troll the sea.
I've gotten 5 poles using both of these methods, sold 2 poles for 35m each :>

I am entertained. Thanks for this.

Me too. clever

This is still working. I dunno what these poles are going for nowadays, however a buddy of mine farmed liked 40 of these things in 3 days just the other day. He used Guardzone though, what a shame at all those MIBs and horned leather :(
-
Just a little trick to improve this, if you set a macro in UOA to click the mooring line it makes it a lot easier to get all of them on the boat every time :D
-
When they get guard whacked you lose the loot right?
-
Unless all you are shooting for is the golden fishing rod.
-
Yes, you lose all loot. Golden fishing poles are a chance to spawn in your backpack on death though.

I just can't get my ship close enough the Salvage Hook Vender in Trinsic. I am using a Tokuno Ship and have it just north of the dock. (one ship wide)...Plus -- I can't seem to find the guard zone and I am getting my butt kicked...! LOL :D
-
what I did is backed mine in as close to the shore as possible walk over click the buy menu leave it open then get back on the ship and buy em
-
Plus your guard whacking them so you don't need a big boat
-
Where is a good spot for this action? Gzone and Deep?
-
Does this trick still work, and what docks did you use?

Me also! Does anyone know where deep water in a guard zone can be found to try this trick?
Thanks.

Spent 2mil on 1000 hooks, and threw them all into the sea! found about ~80 pieces of shipwreck quest item, but not a single golden fishing rod.
What could I have done wrong?

wanted to try and see if this still works, but I can't find where there is a guard zone by deep water.....
Weird, I cannot see your reply at all. It is blank but I can quote it to see what it was. As for your question, I think right there in Trinsic is deep water within the guard zone. Near the docks.
-
I had the same issue not seeing the post.
I thought there was a spot around Vesper docks and Serpent's Hold, too.

By hitting the quote button, it quoted it and I could see it but that was it. This is what I see.

I did a site maintenance and repair, so hopefully the database is all happy again.

Hey everyone !!
So I found this post and decided to give it a whirl. The trick still works as of today's date. I use a Orc boat, back it bin close to the "Sons of Trinsic" disembark the boat, buy 500 slavage anchors, click on the mooring line and complete the purchase. The hooks when land on the deck of yor ship and some in your backpack. I steer the boat from this point to a position right on the line inside the Town's limits, facing my boat north.
One way I found to tell me that i was in th e right spot is to try and cast "chain lighting" if your in town, you will get a message stating ... "you cannot cast this in town". I use a mage/tamer with a Legendary blue beetle ( RC,AI and poisening) you can fight the beast or guard whack them, your choice. I will add that "Kraken's" carry mib's ...another great source to farm.
Overall, In a few hours, I was able to net four Golden Rods and over 100 mib's...
Cheers,
