General UO Chat / Creating Character Bug - FE Solved

Today I was creating characters to mess around with. Had about 4 accounts going, I had done all the normal things to create a character, picked skills, typed in the name Ra*****. When I logged in with him, he had the name Sa***, and had the wrong items for the skills I had chosen. Even when I was in game, the titlebar showed the Ra***** name. Just as weird, he didn't even have the 1k gold.

I've created probably thousands of characters over my time in UO, and I've never seen anything like this. Any idea what caused it, and has anyone else seen it? As far as I could tell, besides this, nothing else seemed to be bugged with him.

UO Client Modifications/Tools / Client Art Patcher

Here's what's in right now.
Spoiler: show
Static tiled fields.. Fire - orange, Poison - Green, Para - White, Energy - Purple
Bolas - Changed to the color teal where it was brown
Various Trees/Gravestones - all changed to stumps to denote blocking terrain. Working on more of the large ones, and stalagmites
Corpse/Containers: All new art to let you see easier. The head on the corpse art changes, planning to change the animation at some point to the same color set.
Traps - highlighted plus made easier to tell tile.
Wall of Stone shortened
2/21 - Additional Trees (All of them you'd need) + twigs


I got some other ideas but would like to know what you want. Before using, please back up these files:

art.mul
artidx.mul
gumpart.mul
gumpidx.mul
tiledata.mul


UO Patches: It would be wise to back these up and then replace the patched files with the originals before applying any new patches. The client shouldn't break regardless, but you could end up with some "unused" tiles over new items if you don't do this, and download the new patcher after each update. Not sure how this will work yet for patching exactly, but we'll find out.

Installing: Simple. Extract the folder and run Patcher.exe inside, point it to your main uo folder and hit start. That's it.


Some credits to gimlet for some gump art and to OMGBurgers for trap art.. Any bugs, suggestions, comments, etc should be posted in this thread. Thanks.

General UO Chat / Any way to break into locked doors on a public house?

I know there used to be like sandbagging and also ressing on the door, but neither of these seem to work for me anymore. Is there another way to break in?

I've tried editing the art files just to toggle off the impassable restrictions and such, resynching the client in funny ways while lowering my z axis, trying to make myself lag through the stuff, but to no avail. Also tried rubble stairs, but I couldn't get enough blocks and sets of stairs to really test this, although I did half check with interior staircases and it seemed to not work.. dunno.

Scripting Chat / Drag/Dropper

Very simple script. Just took a look at a few things I had already helped with or had given to me, and created something new! Can use this for maybe events that drop items, IDOCs, or anything of the sort. Very fast.

It is working.. but there is one small issue, and then one question I have associated with this as well, and maybe someone can answer this. First, sometimes after dropping it in the bag a graphic of the item will remain in a random spot on the screen, mousing over this can sometimes cause crashes, minor issue so I didn't look into this much more.

Secondly, if this script is running with the particular client window being focused, it runs lightning quick.. however, if you minimize it and open a new window (firefox for example), it takes slightly longer to pick up the items.. I'm guessing this isn't an issue with this script alone though? Is there a way to get around this so it's picking it up just as fast no matter what? If the window is the focus, it's maybe .05 to pick it up, but if it's not focused, it might be .25-.5.

New member introductions / My Intro

Hello all. I've played UO for about 10-11 years, over half my life. That sounds kinda bad.  :P I play on Great Lakes, and on other shards occasionally, just depends. I'm very knowledgeable about the game, especially the PVP side. I am an expert suit builder and template maker. I love to make new characters and test their uses out. I enjoy testing bugs and constantly trying to learn new exploits and things I didn't know previously, as this helps keep the game fresh for me and interesting.

I can and do play just about any template that's effective at what it's meant to do. Starting to get into soloing and finishing up my Sampire as I type this. Regularly do IDOCs on GL + Chessy + Sakura. If anyone will share theirs on another shard I might be willing to share mine too.

I used to have an account on UOCoders and posted their very often. Still learning about scripting, would love to learn more.
