Hello everyone! It's your favorite script leech, Bookwyrm!
I am going ahead and posting my intro for the site since I managed to join without it being necessary waaayyy back then. Many of you wonder why we want you to post not just a quickie intro, but a good intro. Main reason is that we actually want to know a little bit about you before we give you access to all of our wonderful goodies. Yes, that's right, you got to at least buy us dinner before you have a chance to score :-*.
NOTE* We at ScriptUO do not in any way, shape, or form, require you to post personal details on this site (or anywhere else for that matter). What we do want is a fair amount of information about your time playing UO. How long, what shard (be it an OSI shard or free shard), we want to know what drew you to the game, are you a crafter, PvM, PvP? Any other interesting things you might like to share with us about your time playing would be great. Do not share your character names or details about your account unless you choose to do so.
I started playing UO back in '99 during the heyday of T2A. My brother had been playing UO since mid '97 during the Beta testing. He settled down to Napa Valley and when I started playing that is naturally where I settled as well. In the early days I tried a bit of everything to find out what worked for me. It became obvious that I was much better at crafting and resource gathering than I was at PvP (good god I sucked at PvP :'(). After about 4 months of seeing nothing but that growing bald spot on the back of my head my wife finally became curious enough about the game to give it go herself, she was hooked as well. While it was fantastic having a wife that would game it sucked at the time because we only had the one computer >:(. This situation was quickly remedied and the marriage was saved ;D.
We played for several years. Even getting into the "sell the resources on Ebay craze" before that went to hell and Ebay pulled the plug on auctions of virtual property. I had a brief stint as a counselor on GL and LS, that ended abruptly when they shut down the volunteer program. And other than a short time on a freeshard that I cannot remember the name of and my several hiatuses from the game I have been on Napa Valley that entire time.
My last big hiatus occurred from late 2009 until just a couple of months ago. My wife, who was my best friend and favorite gaming partner, had a heart attack and died in her sleep at the age of 33. It took me a great deal of time to come to terms with that but I am now happy to be back with my friends here at ScriptUO.
So be looking for me in the shout box as I ridicule TM and tease him about all the issues I have with his scripts. ???
Anyone that ever needs a hand on Napa can feel free to contact me. I'm not saying I will help but please, feel free to contact me :P.

I for one am glad you made it back. Especially from the personal hell that you managed climb out from. We kept the light on for ya.

Welcome back! I never knew why you took the original break. That was sad to read but am bad you are back and rolling again. Great intro Bookwyrm. and yes, you pretty much became elite for your activity on the boards and insane levels of help bullet proofing TM's fishing scripts.

I chatted with Red Squirrel a few months ago. He's pretty much gotten out of the UO thing completely. I doubt he'll be back. He's too busy with real life and all. He and j4bber had a bit of a repore; j4bber even gave Red the uocoder site name when he pulled the plug. It's funny, when j4bber was looking to open a new site, his first choice was "scriptuo", but it was taken by someone already. (yes, it was me... hehe)

I never understood why the J4bster would have given the site to someone that had no intention of keeping the site as it had been. The things Red did to that site still upset me... :'(
Biggest thing I miss about UOCoders? We had an incredible array of emoticons to play with. I fondly remember the goofiness that Missy and I would get up to with them. :P
Hey TM! Could we get a larger selection of emoticons for this site?

At the time, Red was probably the best bet for running a site because during that time he was hyperactive with the interwebz.
The emoticons you see here *IS* the expanded set. SMF doesn't have nearly as many bells an whistles as vBulletin. SMF also doesn't have nearly the headaches that vB has, so that's why I never even contemplated transitioning this site to vB. You'll just have to enjoy your Emojis on your Ifauxony, and imagine them embedded within SUO. ;)

ROFLMAO You mean we have to have manners? I prefer to score first, see if a person is worth dinner. ;D

I'm sorry for your loss. I know first hand how devestating it can be to lose someone. I myself took a rather large hiatus from UO in 2011/2012 after losing my 4yr old daughter. I'm glad to see you are back, the friends we have made, and even our enemies on UO can be some of the most comforting people to get back in the daily groove of things.

Thank you again for your kickass intro as for a while now a few friends and myself were always wondering, "Who the hell is Bookwyrm?" And now we know!
