General UO Chat / Windows 8.1 UO Unplayable?!
« on: December 25, 2014, 11:36:13 AM »
Merrry Christmas Everyone!

So I got myself a ASUS ROG which can be seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232202

Now here I am on my spiffy new machine and I can't get UO to work... It opens and I can login but when I try moving it's two steps then freeze. Two steps, freeze. Unplayable :-(

I've uninstalled and re-installed. Updated all my drivers and I can't figure it out. About to be back to the 2010 Core I5.

Any suggestions?

Gentlemen and Fellow UO'rs,

About 9 months ago I left California and my family to make my 3rd deployment as a Marine. I stopped by a couple times said hi in the shout box and browsed over new threads.

Well I made it back but this isn't about me.

This is about a man or as I would call him a Wolf who I found out yesterday did not make it back. A Wolf Among Sheep: Master Sergeant Aaron Torian. MSgt T was KIA on the 15 Feb 2014. Husband and Father of 3. This was a man who literally was the best of the best. You watch Lone Survivor? You've read Chris Kyle's story? MSgt T was Marine Corps Special Forces and he was one of their best on par with any seal and certainly better than some... I went out to support his team towards the end of my deployment and upon meeting him, you just knew you'd follow this wolf into the darkest stairway to hell without hesitation. I'll be honest, I didn't know him as well as I'd like to of but he'll forever be in my memory as one of America's finest...

I know the war is not glamorous anymore... Hell I think we should have pulled out some time ago but I'd ask if you could find a moment in your day to take that moment and give MSgt T a simple thought. He truly was a wolf among sheep. Striking fear into the hearts of many men who would do you or your loved ones harm in an heartbeat for no other reason than being American.

Well I hope I didn't ramble to badly, I'm about 2 sheets to the wind and just wanted to share this..

Take care all

Good luck Kali!

And to be honest... I'm still a bit flabbergasted one your thesis topic... Awesome?!!?

I think they should have just upped the base resist of non-medable armors.  Maybe add med penalties to certain armors while giving them higher base resists yet, or adding some sort of dex/stamina penalty for that increased base resist.  (i.e. Leather = medable, weakest resists; studded = no dex penalty, slight MR penalty but still medable, slightly higher resist; ring = no dex penality, non medable, slight mr penality, increased base resist..'fill in the gap'..Dragon Armor = 'Highest Base Resist Total, Not medable, low dex penality, high MR penalty; == Plate Armor = 'Highest Base Resist Total, Not Medable, High Dex Penality, low MR penality, High Dex Penalty')

Some sort of huge balancing scale of dex/MR penalty for a trade off in base resist.  Makes all armor useful again... For higher base resist, for instance, I can spend less imbue weight on upping the resist to hit all 70s and put something like MR.  In the end, you have more versatility and options without going all up in this mana phase and SSI debuf procs.

You stop this logical thinking right now!!!

Haha in all seriousness this is exactly how it should go...

I still wish I still had all my dividend stocks from a few years ago.  Checkout some of the oil stocks that pay high dividends.

I'm always tempted to get into oil but just haven't ever commited to it. As I see it oil will become rarer or less cost effecient to produce to the point of sky rocketing prices... I may finally do it if I get a little 3-5% pullback.

Yea.... Im thinking thank god for the whole "its who you know thing..."   My wifes best girlfriend from college has a dad that does investments & being a regional director doesnt normally take new clients. We are happy with him so far.  Its funny bc our respective college roomates got married.  Apparently myself / wife brought our roomate over to hangout and thennditched them enough times that they found other reasons to keep coming over.

Things have a weird way of working out sometimes. I was going after my wifes roommate and next thing I know... Married two kids later! Haha

Last year I got into BAC @ 6.60 and FB @ 21.00

I'm still holding onto those likely for long long term.

I'm looking to get into possibly Nokia, Amazon or Honeywell. All would be long plays.

Any thoughts from last year or going into this year?

I use uoaf to run uoassist in a loop.
I have attacched my copy below. I have used it since 2000 or so - so I am pretty sure it is clean.

Thank you Gimlet. I didn't have a chance to try it out today but I'll give it a go tomorrow!

Also most of the Stats gurus are pick 49ers and NE to meet at the Super Bowl !!

I'd say those are the favored picks. With the ravens having a better chance of upsetting than the Falcons.... Sorry Masscre!
May the best win!

Under/uninsured motorist coverage is first party (you) insurance that pays you when you are not to blame, but the person who ran into you doesn't have enough insurance. The price probably reflects what people are buying in your area. If people are not buying insurance or are not buying enough, your insurance companys know this and will price accordingly. The pricing is a direct indication of the risk involved. There is real inequity in the idea that you have more insurance if you are at fault under your policy than if you are NOT at fault. The truth of it is that more people are un/underinsured than you might think, the insurance companies know this, and are not all that excited about letting you buy coverage from them for other people. If you can get UM up to 250 I can point you at umbrella coverage that will take it up as high as $1M.  Go to this site, call them, and ask them for a broker in your area. https://www.personalumbrella.com/

Scary thought....

I am hypergolic with nubile women.  I stay indoors, in front of a computer, to protect them.

So noble of you. Thank you for your sacrifice.
