I run an older intel mac mini. Off the top of my head I believe it has 2 ghz, 2gb ram, tiny hd, and integrated graphics.
clearly it's about time to let the thing go into some kind of retirement. However, I have a VERY limited student's budget. The question is, "which mac?" No, I won't get some generic pc. PCs have been unreliable, windows gives me ulcers and thats not the point of this thread.
Which mac? Even if I have to buy an older refurb mac (ideally nothing older than about '09)

It's your money... waste it any way you like! ;D
Nothing really to add as Macs and I don't play well together.

I used to be an apple guy until the late 80's, but apple computers have changed to just an over priced normal PC. Nothing special about them now except over priced and over priced user support. Yes they can run stable but so can a normal PC. depend on how much junk you load on your PC and how well you protect it.

My advice is just look for refurbs online and get one there, you'll save yourself a bundle and still get a decent computer. It's hard to say exactly which one is best to get since the refurb selection changes all the time. I'd look for one that at least has a dedicated graphics card.

Nah, Apple has done right by me for a long time. I have nothing but positive things to say about their products.

It took me working for them to learn to run for the hills. ;)

got the mac mini. Waiting on UPS to deliver the monitor, keyboard and mouse from newegg and I'll be set.
Honestly, it was a mac mini or I was considering assembling a hackintosh.
