Off Topic / My new PC - as requested by Paulonius
« on: September 28, 2009, 05:23:54 AM »
Nothing awesome but will be a pretty good system for some time to come. This is replacing a 7+ year old Sony Vaio P3 2.8Ghz with 1gig of RAM and a 160Gig HD. Not a bad price for the build. I got a combo discount on the video/motherboard combo, 3 different coupons from last weeks mailings, and there is $70.00 worth of Mail-in rebates bringing the grand total, delivered, to $772.54.

I'll be adding a new monitor as well. Been looking at the Samsung ToC 240hd as it has a built-in HDTV tuner. The problem is that it doesn't support PiP while on the PC. I'd like to be able to watch the game in the corner of the screen while playing UO and WoW ;) I'm open to suggestions! This is replacing a 7+ year old Cornia 17" LCD I bought on uBid.com for $500 LOL so almost anything at all is an upgrade.

Link to the monitor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001280&Tpk=t240hd

Now I need to spec out a laptop and a new TV :P I don't know about the laptop but for the TV I think I'll wait until the LED's come down just a little bit more. I want a 47" LG LED for less than $1200!

Feedback / Potential function inclusion in future version?
« on: August 05, 2009, 06:07:02 AM »
Hey there TM!

As usual I find myself using ScriptUO for more than just .euo scripts  ::)

What do you think about adding an "All Files" option in the "Files of Type" drop-down when going to Load File? I find myself often looking to open files of type .vbs and .sql.

Just thought I would throw it out there.

Player Templates / Resource Gatherer verse Crafter
« on: June 12, 2009, 11:27:23 AM »
Yeah, I know. Not a very exciting template conversation but it is one that is near and dear to my heart.

There was a time in my UO past when I would typically assign a single character slot on whatever shard I played the role of "Mule". Typically this character ended up being a mismatch of resource gathering and crafting skills with enough Magery to "get around" squeezed in there somewhere. The template was cramped but, looking back on it, made sense based on what was valuable at the time.

As time has moved on it has become increasingly difficult to manage a single "Mule" character and I started to change the way I think about the process, mostly due to the time I spent on Siege Perilous where my two accounts provided very little, precious "skill real estate". I decided that to be an effective Mule one should really choose either the "Resource Gatherer" or the "Crafter/Quester" role for a given character.

The difference is pretty straightforward, a Resource Gatherer is a character designed to provide every resource in the game that a Crafter/Quester might need whereby the Crafter/Quester would be devoted to burning resources up in Heartwood, BOD's, or simply creating the armor, weapons, jewelry, add-ons, etc my other characters need.

My template's currently go something like:

Crafter/Quester
120 Tailor
120 Blacksmith
100 Arms Lore
100 Tinkering
100 Carpentry
100 Fletching
80 Magery

This character should be able to do all Heartwood quests, collect and fill BOD's and craft anything that may be needed.

Resource Gatherer
110 Magery
110 Med
100 Mining
100 Lumberjack
100 Fishing
100 Alchemy
100 Cooking

This character can gather all potential resources including most/all leather types. Alchemy and Cooking can be viewed as either Craft or Resource, I view consumables as resources.

So what do you do? Any better ideas or missing components? Anyone else enjoy this type of template discussion?

12TimesOvers' Script Library / XIIxOveR's Justice League
« on: June 02, 2009, 12:40:38 PM »
Code: [Select]
;===========================================
; Script Name: XIIxOver's Justice League
; Author: XIIxOveR
; Version: 1.1 Public
; Shard OSI/FS: OSI
; Revision Date: 12-July-2008
; Purpose: AFK Justice Gainer with Two Accounts
;===========================================

Current Public Version: 1.1

Description
Gain Justice on one or more accounts while AFK.

Notes
1) This pair of scripts must be run on the same PC with 2 (or more if more than one blue account) Client.exe instances running. This is because they communicate by way of the persistent variable *XIIxResBotDead to determine the status of the red.
2) Recommend running with chars in a house and the blue/s a couple of tiles away from the red to avoid being interrupted. Script will pathfind to and from the red to res.
3) You can only gain Justice from the same red once every 7 minutes, this script will wait between 7 and 7.5 minutes (randomized) between kill attempts.
4) This script uses Magery however Eval is not required (Mindblast 4tw). However, you must have enough Magery skill to cast Resurrection somewhat reliably (110 Magery is recommended). There is no skill checking in the script, it is up to you to make sure you have enough magery so that you aren't standing there all day fizzling.
5) This script also assumes you understand the UOXL feature of EasyUO well enough to make sure each tab is set to point to the correct Client.exe instance. UOXL lessons are not provided in this thread!
6) For best results, a Red character with maxed out skill is recommended. The amount of Justice gained per kill is directly related to the number of skill points used by the red.

Instructions
1) Requires 1 red character and 1 or more blue characters all on seperate accounts but on the same PC (or PC instance in the case of Virtual PC's).
2) FIRST - Start "XIIxOveR's Justice League Red" for the red
3) THEN - Start an instance of "XIIxOveR's Justice League Blue" for each blue

Note - The Pen Trick has been fixed on production shards; I have left version 1.2 of this script posted however it will be unsupported. The supported, updated version 1.3 should be used for production servers.

Current Public Version: 1.3

Description
Trains Detect Hidden using whatever trunks it finds in a chars pack or on the ground. Uses the pen trick to keep you hidden and to train Detect Hidden so make sure you have a pen in your pack.

Instructions
1) Stand in a location with spawning locked trunks and/or boxes (Vesper Bank, etc) or put locked trunks and/or boxes in your pack.
2) Hit Play
3) Gain skill

Notes
1) If you are an Elf character and your Hiding skill is less than 20 this script will not try to hide you.
2) Most importantly, training will go more quickly when you attempt to gain on containers of increasing difficulty. For example, if training at Vesper bank, start in the north-west room until about 50-60 then move to the south-east room where the trunks are a little more difficult. At about 87 put a trapped level 6 Paragon trunk (eg Miasma) in your pack.

12TimesOvers' Script Library / XIIxOveR's Perpetual Peacer

Code: [Select]
;==========================================
; Script Name: XIIxOver's Perpetual Peacer
; Author: XIIxOveR
; Version: 1.0 Public
; Shard OSI/FS: OSI
; Revision Date: 03-Sept-2008
; Purpose: Peace Stuff
;==========================================
; Thanks to TM for Gump and Wait Subs
;==========================================

Note - The Pen Trick has been fixed on production shards; this script uses the Pen Trick however this functionality will no longer work on EA servers.

Current Public Version: 1.0

Description
Threw this together to fill a request so thought I would post it up.

This script uses the pen trick and repeatedly attempts to direct peace a target to keep it peaced while another char kills it. This also works when targeting yourself in order to area peace.

Instructions
1) Make sure there is a pen in your peacer's pack
2) Make sure there are instruments in your peacer's pack
3) Make sure you are within 8 tiles of your target
4) Press play
5) Select target
6) Kill target with another account

Notes
1) You may need to use the pen and try creating something (to load the "Make Last" option)
2) You must select the target directly, not use the life bar of the target
3) The script defaults to needing to be within 8 tiles of the target however this can be modified by changing the line "FindItem %peacetarget G_8" to a number other than 8 (or simply remove the "_8" alltogether)

; Script Name: XIIxOveR's Lightning Lockpicking Trainer
; Author: XIIxOveR
; Version: 3.0 Public
; Shard OSI/FS: OSI
; Revision Date: 05/06/2021
; Purpose: Train Lockpicking
;=======================================================

Current Public Version: 3.0

Description
Train lockpicking from 30+/- to 95 (to GM using Satyr's, 95 is the max skill gained from GM boxes) using only three lockable containers. Now supports RoT.

Instructions
  • Put a lockable container made by a carpenter with 35+/- tinkering in your pack
  • Put a lockable container made by a carpenter with 65+/- tinkering in your pack
  • Put a lockable container made by a carpenter with GM tinkering in your pack
  • Put a keyring in your pack
  • Put the keys from the three boxes on the keyring
  • Put lockpicks in your pack or any other open container (ie bank box, secure in house, etc)
  • Press play and follow the prompts

Notes
  • If starting from 50+ only the second two boxes are needed, just target the 65 tinker box for both 35 and 65
  • If you are an Elf or Gargoyle character and your Hiding skill is less than 20 this script will not try to hide you.
  • This script works to GM lockpicking by getting Discorded in Twisted Weald (I've gone from 95 to GM in an hour several times)

Change Log - 3.0
  • Added support for 3rd box (35+/- tinkering) for training lower levels faster with fewer picks

Change Log - 2.3

  • Added Gargoyle types to Hiding logic
  • Added Pause function
