Player Templates / What is a viable Necromancer template?
« on: August 06, 2010, 10:15:56 AM »
What is a viable Necromancer template that can spawn and defend itself from the oddball in PvP and possible kill him.

A friend of mine is asking for advice and since I haven't played a Necromaner other than a Peace Necromancer I'm need to solicit some adive as to not steer my friend in the wrong direction.

What changes or adjustments would you suggest for someone currently running this template?

100 Anatomy,
120 Evaluate Intelligence
55 Focus
120 Magery
120 Meditation
105 Necormancy
100 Spirit Speak

Also what gear would you suggest for running such a template?

Note this account hasn't upgraded to SA if that makes a difference in suggesting items to use.

General UO Chat / Daemonic Guardians (Uber-Putrifier)!
« on: July 31, 2010, 11:48:33 AM »
I'm not sure what the story is on these guys but they have been showing up across the lands and I've watched them deal out some serious damage on Europa. The first time I locked horns with one I got beat up like a red headed step child. After server up I went back and I was able to solo one only have to retreat once to catch my breath. Get your Demon Slayer Energy Weapons out...(Semindar/Putfrifier Slayer Weapon) for these Beasts. So far there have been no verifiable reports of them dropping any items of significance, a few minor artifacts were reported. They are dropping the spleen which is either a result of them being copied from Putrifier or as someone else suggested hint to do Paroxysmus?

UO Reference Information / Imbuing and Overwriting Properties!
« on: July 19, 2010, 09:33:29 PM »
Here is another tidbit that I did not know and again it cost me! So I'll share just in case someone else is also in the dark...

You can overwrite skills in the same group. There are 5 skill groups as you may very well know on the imbuing menu. You can swap out and overwrite any skill that is in the same group.

I'll give you my example of my dilemma. I favor imbuing +15 Chivalry on my Rings & Bracelets. Today I  purchased a Turqouise Ring with +10 Archery and +5% SSI for the low low price of 500k. Since Archery and Chivalry are in the same group I can overwrite the Archery and throw on my +15 Chivalry on it. I also didn't know that it doesn't matter if the Turquiouse Ring is exceptional or not it still has a base of 500.

I know I've thrown out a +13 Peacemaking with +5% SSI on it thinking I wouldn't be able to use it. I've also tossed out Dark Sapphire bracelet that weren't exceptional believing them to be only at 450.

Here is the skill list group table:

Group 1: Magery - Musicianship - Swords -  Macing - Fencing
Group 2: Wrestling - Provocation - Tactics - Spirit Speak - Animal Taming
Group 3: Meditation - Discordance - Parrying - Focus - Animal Lore - Stealth
Group 4: Mysticism - Bushido - Necromancy - Veterinary - Stealing - Evaluate Intelligence - Anatomy
Group 5: Resist Spells - Peacemaking - Healing - Chivalry - Archery - Ninjitsu -Throwing

You can also overwrite a Troll Slayer into a Repond Slayer or a Gargoyle Slayer into a Demon Slayer. And vice versa. I didn't know this when I first started crafting Elemental Weapons with low end runic and I ended up tossing out some weapons I might otherwise have considered keeping.

Again I usually feel like I'm the last to know so I wanted to share as this knowledge could help out alot especially if your looking for a specific turquoise ring or dark sapphire bracelet.

Came across this thread on Stratics http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=214756

Apparently you can prevent  Neira, Barracoon, Travesty or any other creature from jumping all over the place by double clicking their healthbar.

I did not know this!

This is very useful information and would have helped me and saved me hours of time had I known this earlier.

This explains alot as to how some warriors are solo'ing Neira. I always raised an eyebrow when people claimed to have solo'd Neira with one account.

I'm am wondering if this will work on the EC Client as well or if it's a phenomenon of the CC Client only.

I might have to test on some changelings.

Anyhow I did not know this and I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about PvM. Learn something new every day!

Just wanted to share with those who might have missed this or weren't aware of this useful trick.

Off Topic / The sport of Bicyling....
« on: August 28, 2009, 11:12:59 AM »
Looks like we have us some experienced avid Bicycling enthusiasts around here...Sorry C2 to hear about your accident! :(

Father time is catching up to me and I haven't taken the best care of myself over the past 10 years so I wanted to find something to get me active that would get my heart beating while being fun at the same time. I partied alot in my first 30 years and now I'm find myself slowing down a bit.  Now more than ever it's dawning on me that we need to start taking care of ourselves as we get older to in order to get optimum longevity out of our bodies. Anyhow I've chosen biking as one of the forms to get some exercise as they have some really nice bike trails down here in Southern California.

I ended up getting a cheap bike at my local target. Big mistake but I didn't know whether I was going to 'like it' or not so I was conservative and didn't want to spent a good chunk of change. But that bike lasted about a week before it started completely falling apart. Now I'm broke and stuck with it until I can afford something better...the good thing is the bike is a workout because the gears don't work. The bad things is it's dangerous cause the breaks down work that great either. I have to slow down way early whereas I think most good bikes can stop on a dime.  ???

I don't want to come here to SUO with my own tale crashing.  That's one of the things that really scares me about bicycling...

Some of these pedestrians and motorists out there that are oblivious to others around them on the roads. I try and be aware of all times of the people around and always slow down when going around a corner I can't see around. But riding on the surface streets is totally crazy...and not something I think I would be comfortable with. Many Motorists don't seem to have any respect for cyclists so I'll be sticking to the bike paths and side walks.

So when it comes to biking I'm as green as a four leaf clover I'm trying to learn as much as I can but I need to get a real bike.

I want one that is fast...very fast but need to keep it under $1000. I'm tired of being whizzed by other bicyclist twice my age on my $70 Magna Bike that has no functioning gears...LOL!

I'm leaning towards a  road bike with a flat bar. Possibly a Trek 7.5FX or a Specialized Sirrus Comp.

I'm not looking to compete in a triathlon anytime soon. I'm understanding it takes years to build up stamina and cadence. The bike I want is mostly for personal exercise and enjoying the scenery here in Southern California but I really want to be able to go FAST when I push it.

What kind of bikes are you guys riding? Any suggestions on what might fit the bill for me? I'll be doing a good amount of research before I finally decide on a  bike that fits my needs.

Off Topic / Countries that have visited SUO! (SUO International)
« on: July 19, 2009, 11:30:20 AM »
I want to start a list of all the countries that have visited this site because I think it's fascinating. I can't remember them all but we've had two today today already. Hopefully some of our other members will help compile the list if you wish to do so. Don't hold me to this...and anyone feel free to take the reins at anytime. :)

Little by little we should see the list grow. I believe Japan, Germany, France but I'm not 100%. Sweden too but I'd have to go back through posts for that.  :P
So I'll leave them off the list unless someone else can vouch for those countries.

1) Italy
2) Turkey
3) South Korea
4) Ireland
5) England
6) Brazil
7) Finland
8) USA
9) Venezuela
10) Canada
11) Poland
12) China
13) Sweden
14) Germany
15) Denmark
16) Belgium
17) Switzerland
18) Mexico
19) Latvia
20) Bulgaria

UO Bragging Rights / BLAZE!!!!!!!!!
« on: May 27, 2009, 04:51:35 PM »

At long last I meet the mythical Blaze face to face. The biggest and best score of my UO gaming days hands down.  8)

I actually thought that I would never ever get my hands on blaze after the countless hours I spent in the Glade turning over the Cu Sidhe Spawn.

I used to spend 5-6 hours a day for almost 9 months turning over the spawn until I heard someone on my home shard tamed Blaze. A player who didn't spend near the amount of time myself or other Glade Tamers did turning over the spawn. Then I gave up in disgust and started doing Dreadhorn instead.

I have been farming the Glade Spawn and I just happened to check how many candles it was and out of instinct I ventured into the desert and low and behold I saw a funky looking Cu Sidhe smiling at me. I wasn't even on my tamer either. I had to run log and switch characters.

My hands were trembling with excitement as I was attempting to taming him.

I guess I can't cry about how unlucky I am anymore. :P

Now what to name him....

General UO Chat / Champion Spawn Difficulty Rankings!
« on: May 02, 2009, 12:20:44 PM »
I'm curious as to what everyone thinks are the hardest spawns. Some players seem to do really well on some and struggle on others. Knowledge is key when working spawns. There are all kinds of little tricks that can help make a spawn much easier.

Ultima's current rankings based predominatly on playing as a Solo player or with 1-2 other people at a time:

#1 Bedlam - I've gone in with a guild of 10+ people one time (no one knew what they were doing myself included) and couldn't advance to tier 4. I've also seen a few players from the Asian shards solo the spawn, they died about 10x but they did it alone. Quite a feat being able to solo Bedlam one I've not been able to pull off myself. Ilhenir is a tough adversary...the first time I spawned him with a friend we had to retreat in defeat.

#2 Twisted Glade - This almost ranks with Bedlam. Neck and Neck. I've spent more time in the Glade and have a better understanding of that spawn so that may be the reason Bedlam gets the nod. I was under the belief that no way can it be solo'd but last week to my amazement I saw someone do it (Yes an Asian player...they're some very good Asian players out there that have a bag full of tricks). Again I've seen large guilds attempt the spawn and get utterly destroyed.

#3 Arachnid Spawn - Nowhere near Bedlam or the Glade Tier 3 of this spawn can be extremely challenging if your not properly prepared. The combination Matriarch's and Dread Spiders is down right lethal and I've had my head handed to me many times by this spawn.

#4 Abyss Spawn - Tier 3 again! The area damage by Gargolyle's along with the spell casting can be too much for the wrong template. And for the male players too many succubus chasing you around can be very hazardous.

#5 Cold Blood Spawn - The combination of Fire Breath and spellcasting can be just too much sometimes if you bite off more than you can chew.

#6 Undead Spawn - Without Magic Resists it's nigh impossible. Constant spellcastings coupled with Bload Oath can make for a challenging Spawn.

The remaining spawns of Vermin, Minotaur, and Oaks I all find pretty close.

I've yet to do a Harrower or a Sleeping Dragon spawn so I can't comment on those.

As far as actualy Boss Rankings:
#1 Ilhenir
#2 Rikktor
#3 Meraktus
#4 Semindar
#5 Mephistus
#6 Oaks (if Oaks was automatically aggressive to all alignments he would probably rank higher with most players but being that he is good and doesn't attack you on sight people underestimate him). He isn't the easiest to stand toe to toe with as a warrior.

What does everyone else think?

UO-Related Tutorials / Meraktus & The 4 Tormented Minotaurs (Labyrinth)
« on: January 28, 2009, 09:30:32 PM »
I'm not sure how many of your have been down to the Labyrinth to challenge the crazed Minotaur Meraktus but if you have the patience and like a challenge it can be alot of fun and I strongly suggest it. It's definately not for everyone and there are tricks that can make it easier but I'll let you figure them out for yourselves.

Thus far from my experience solo'ing it, it takes a little over an hour to spawn the Champion, sometimes longer... like I said patience is a must in the Labyrinth.

I'm not sure how much faster a large guild could prop him up because it's really dependent on the minotaurs spawning. The strategy of running all over the entire Labyrinth fighting Pyre and Reptalons and perhaps even rend in order to spawn Merkatus well...it's a deathwish. It can get really crazy down there in a split second if you play yours cards wrong. Patience and determination is really what is needed. So anyone who enjoy's soloing Paroxysmus or Dreadhorn should make a  trip down and test your metal against the strongest the Labyrinth has to offer. With the introduction of Replica's the trip might actually be worthwhile.

Direction are head all the way to the back of the Labryinth. Outside the Gate is where the majority of Minotaurs will spawn. Inside the gate is the large building where Meraktus will appear with his Tormented Minotaurs.

It takes ALOT of killing of minotaurs and the progression will start with the shouting "I see invaders! Must warn the others!". Which will be followed by "Aid the others! Kill the invaders!" and finally after approximately an hour of slaying Minotaurs A Minotaur Captian bellows, "Meraktus has arrived!". You will only hear the "Meraktus has arrived!" message once so pay close attention. It's a good idea to keep an eye on the large building with a stealther to see if you missed the message and he did indeed arrive.

Meraktus and his crew of Minotaurs are not to be trifle with. It might be a good idea to take on Dreadhorn or Paroxysmus before taking on Meraktus even though his HP is alot lower and he goes down fast he hits like a ton of bricks. I can't remember the last time I took so many dirtnaps but for me it has been alot of fun and a great way for solo players to get replicas.

Good luck and be sure to share your experiences. :)

General UO Chat / Luna Vendor House Price?
« on: December 13, 2008, 09:50:31 PM »
I recently started up on a less populated shard to farm powerscrolls but I need a vendor to set up vendor shop to generate some cash flow so I can purchase xfer tokens to get back to my home shard. So far I haven't seen anyone soliciting vendor rentals but there is a small Vendor House inside Luna that is available for sale.

Does anyone have any inclination as the price/cost of what a Luna house on a less populated shard would go for? What is the fair market value?

I wanted to make an offer without insulting the seller. I really have no idea at to what is reasonable. Anyone?
