Client Art Patcher

Here's what's in right now.
Spoiler: show
Static tiled fields.. Fire - orange, Poison - Green, Para - White, Energy - Purple
Bolas - Changed to the color teal where it was brown
Various Trees/Gravestones - all changed to stumps to denote blocking terrain. Working on more of the large ones, and stalagmites
Corpse/Containers: All new art to let you see easier. The head on the corpse art changes, planning to change the animation at some point to the same color set.
Traps - highlighted plus made easier to tell tile.
Wall of Stone shortened
2/21 - Additional Trees (All of them you'd need) + twigs


I got some other ideas but would like to know what you want. Before using, please back up these files:

art.mul
artidx.mul
gumpart.mul
gumpidx.mul
tiledata.mul


UO Patches: It would be wise to back these up and then replace the patched files with the originals before applying any new patches. The client shouldn't break regardless, but you could end up with some "unused" tiles over new items if you don't do this, and download the new patcher after each update. Not sure how this will work yet for patching exactly, but we'll find out.

Installing: Simple. Extract the folder and run Patcher.exe inside, point it to your main uo folder and hit start. That's it.


Some credits to gimlet for some gump art and to OMGBurgers for trap art.. Any bugs, suggestions, comments, etc should be posted in this thread. Thanks.

For those doubting the download, I've been talking to Kalaka about this via PM, so take your normal precautions but it looks good to me and Kalaka has been very proactive and requested the appropriate permissions.

This is how it looks. The paralyze fields on the snow are a little white, and if anyone has an issue I can change this -- looks fine on grass/dungeon tiles though.

Very cool Kalaka.

I've never used any sort of a modded client.

This could be extremely useful when I run around FEL.

I have a couple of questions for you Kalaka.

1) Is is still possible to make certain "client side" objects passable?  (bagballs / certain gravestones / cadelabras etc? )

2) When you edited the graphic for the static fields were you able to turn off the animation of each field tile as well?  I know that last time I fiddled with it I was unable to edit the Tiledata.mul in any way, so passables were a no go...   & even though I replaced fields with colored tiles I was unable to turn the animation off...  thus fields are still being drawn repeatedly by your PC even though they are less graphically intensive than they were.. 

Anyway..  screeny looks good.  If you haven't done Tree-stumps yet it's LOTS OF FUN finding them all heh.

I used to mod my client quite often, but now for some reason some things aren't working correctly. MulEditor just isn't doin it's job anymore :(

Hrmm.. I take that back, I can still modify the way tiles are displayed (made roofs transparent, changed fields, and knocked trees down to stumps) however modifying a tile's data, such as making a crate passable is no longer possible? :(

Not that kind of art!

Heres the first bit of info

years ago I had a friend who's wife was terrified of spiders. so we changed his client to make spiders into Wraiths

Find the bodyconv.def file in the uo directory. Edit the file using notepad. (make sure you back up first)

Find the following lines:

# This was the original line for the giant spiders since LBR           
#28   5   -1   -1   -1
#This line reverts the spiders back to the original style           
28   -1   -1   -1   -1


101   6   -1   -1   -1

Change the last 2 lines to look like this. (ie change -1 to 24 and 6 to 24)

28   24   -1   -1   -1


101   24   -1   -1   -1

This will change the spiders to wraiths.

enjoy if you are afraid of the bits and bytes of UO!
