Great article - and current too! He falls a little short when he starts getting into specific equipment recommendations in that he simply lists a bunch of equipment in different price brackets, tells you which ones he would choose, but doesn't get into the details as to why he would choose those over other options in the same bracket.
On the other hand, this is probably the best overview and low-level discussion on the topic that I've read up until now.
