OpenEUO Scripting Chat / Re: Open and close gumps.

That's what I wanted to know. There's a way to check if the gump is still open, even if it loses focus. Thanks.

OpenEUO Scripting Chat / Open and close gumps.
« on: October 14, 2010, 09:01:18 PM »
What's the best ways you've come up with so far for opening and closing a container/gump in OEUO?

Is there a guaranteed way to open a container from an item id (chest/corpse/whatever) and waiting until it's open? Is that handled the same way as in EUO?
And is there a guaranteed way to close a specific gump by ID as well?

Guaranteed being the key word here. How robust is the client interface in OEUO? What level of error checking can we add? As an example there was no way to guarantee a gump was closed in EUO, you could right click it, but if the user moved the mouse simultaneously, and/or the container lost focus due to, say rain, the script would think the gump was closed, when in fact it isn't. What's OEUO like in this regard?

Discussion, LUA snippets, ideas? (I haven't started yet, this is me doing some early research ;) )

I agree with him. OEUO is much faster, more powerful and flexible, and LUA is an established language.

What I don't agree with is to cut support for EUO before OEUO is even nearly as feature complete. If OEUO was already as capable as EUO, no problem. But it isn't, it's missing MAJOR features still, and that's just no good. We're going to lose a lot of people this way.

Player Templates / Re: Budget Sampire

But is DCI that utterly critical that you can forgo all other mods on your suit? The parts I listed above have NO other mods except DCI, that would be 2/3 of the suit exclusively for DCI if we want to get to 60...

Very few mobs hit with HLD, so for a PvM Sampire 45 should be enough. I just don't know what to swap out.

There isn't a set budget here, I'm just trying to figure out how low we can go :) few 100K for the suit should be doable. And as per my OP, Solo Miasma is the target. The reasoning behind it is, Sampire is the most useful PvM template currently in the game, but it's not cheap to get up and running. I wanted to see how cheap you can make a Sampire, with PS and suit, that would still be effective. I say Miasma is a good test, if you can solo Miasma you can enjoy the majority of the game without a problem. So for a new player to get up and running, what is the minimum requirements? Then once we have the template and gear figured out, I (and whoever else wants to give it a go) will build the char, test it and see :)

Here's the current state of the suit:
Ancient Samurai Helm
Heart of the Lion
Fey Leggings
Quiver of Infinity

50 DCI, Since 45 is cap I don't think Quiver is necessary, but is there anything else useful in that slot?
44/29/29/26/37

Feedback, suggestions?

Wammy is all good and well, but this is a thread about how to build a sampire on a budget ;)
Or more like how much budget do you actually need to make a working sampire.

Ancient Samurai Helm with bunny ears is a good call, had forgotten about that.

Ok let's keep this rolling, something to do until EUO gets updated ;)

* What are required mods on a sampire suit? What's the stuff you can't survive without on your armor, weapon or any part of your gear?
* And what are the mods that are nice to have but not entirely critical?
Just trying to get ideas for putting together a cheap-ish suit.

Here are mine to start it off:
* 60+ All resists with 70 physical a must since most monsters hit phys.
* DCI, nice to have, but is it critical?

I'm thinking Swords for Soulseeker, plus swords has the largest variety of weapons really.

Going Elf so you can use heartwood enhanced woodland armor? Other ideas for cheap armor? Heart of the Lion. Elf wearable Fey Leggings are a marty, human Fey Legs are a major arty and cost much more.

Brightsight lenses? MR3, good fire resist to counter vampire form.

For shits and giggles I want to make a budget Sampire. Something a new player could make within a human lifetime.
So I'd like some suggestions for the template. Stats, skills and gear.
Our goal is to solo Miasma.

Skills are max 110, since 110's are easily affordable by anyone.
Gear will be crafted and/or martys only, so no vet rewards, Rune Beetle Carpace or other major artys.

Go nuts! :)

RESULTS (so far):

Suit:
Heart of the lion
Fey legs

Put the mouse cursor in the center of the UO play window.
Call my pathfinding sub

Done.

As long as your mouse cursor is in the center of the screen, your character will walk, and stealth. Unless event pathfind cancels stealth? I haven't tested.

General UO Chat / Any Pacific PvMers here?

Just looking for someone on Pacific to do regular hunts with. Anyone got a guild going, SA bosses, Peerless?

Ok can we stop this nonsense, KR and SA are both 2D. They use a tile/3D hybrid terrain, but all objects and mobiles are 2D sprites, just as in the old UO client.

KR and SA ARE high res 2D clients. And they failed. We don't want that, we want plain old UO.

So, old news, they are (allegedly) adding third party app detection to UO, so they can ban people using EasyUO.
Fine, then they'll have to take a long hard look at WHY people script, and improve the gameplay to a point where people don't feel the same need to script, right?
WRONG. The latest client publish removed the water pitcher overfilling trick. Effectively making plant tending even MORE of a click fest.

Am I the only one who feel as if the devs might have slightly less than no clue about their own game? It's a small thing, I know, but it's an indication of a bigger problem.

Script Debug / Re: Sub ignore stuff for 3 minutes needs HELP!

Timestamping how? That's almost what I do now, in a way. The reason I chose to ignore them is to prevent a list of hundreds (potentially) of corpses that you have to go through over and over just to find a new lootable corpse.
