Looks like we're looking some great smack-talk in the shoutbox, so I wanted to start a thread where you fisherman can come to boast/taunt one another. Also lets the other non-participants/leechers see what they are missing out on. ;)
This is scripted fishing, so those of you leechers/lurkers from Stratics who come here to spy, turn your eyes because you won't believe the numbers. :p

Well I like the FAF script so much I'm making 2 more fisherman in my attempts to someday pull in a Ghost Anchor or Sea Horse Statuette. I'm not worried about the competition I wish everyone luck in their attempts at the Leviathan.
Right now I'm just having fun with this script because of it's ease of use and I've had absolutely zero errors or crashes. Also it's a nice break from Heartwood.
I know with 100% certainty I wouldn't be fishing without the FAF. I couldn't imagine clicking that many times and unloading various resources manually. Definitely not my idea of enjoyable game play clicking that much with such a low chance of a decent reward. But now that it's automated I love it. Fishing up the chests of the ASOS is going to be some work.
First night I hit GM I pulled in 4 ASOS. Last night after 130 Serpents not a single ASOS. Another day or so I should have 3 GM Fisherman sailing the seas. Then the real farming can begin. 8)
I'm going to have to check out Kham's script to help me in fish up all the chests. I'm also glad that I will have some fisherman ready to go as it was stated there will be some additions to fishing with Stygian Abyss.

For the life of me I cant remember how to raise fishing. The last time I did it was when you could still do 8*8 and that was on my main account. I started a new character at 50 and it says I have to fish in shallow water to raise skill. So I was wondering whats the easy way to raise fishing

8x8 no longer works, you can stand still now. For skill less than around 72, you need to be in shallow water or near a server line. If you use my Fisherman here, you just sail your boat close to a server boundary and just start fishing. You'll have to unload from time to time since you don't have serpents to throw things away in. But the main point here is you need to be on or near the server line.
@Ultima: Glad you like the FaF. It was a fun one to write and frankly has been the best one so far to see everyone use and enjoy.

I am currently scripting away with TM's Fish Hunter 16..and having a ball!
I am running 2 clients, Both GM. I have been doing this for almost 48 hours now, and currently have 15 ASOS's. I also am not worried about the compitition...I hope EVERYBODY gets a ghost anchor, and Sea Horse...I just hope I get em first ;D
My smallest BIG fish so far has been 6 stones.
My Largest BIG Fish so far has been 178 Stones.
I am going to keep using 2 clients...even though some are talking about going to 3 or even 5!!
I also know there is NO WAY IN HELL I would be trying this the ...dare I say it....um....ah....you know....the MANUAL WAY....I would have slit my wrists by now, as fishing done the stupid way is about as exciting as watching paint dry!
TM's script not only fishes...it keeps what you want (scales, hides, gold, T-maps, pearls, MIB's, Nets, Color Nets, Footwear, special fish) It tosses what YOU dont want to keep..YOU make the selection! It cuts the fish to steaks, and takes the whole lot to the bank..then gets back to fishing!
And the FAF is even better,,,I havent tried it yet, but will someday I hope!
So those of you that are here to spy, or those of you that havent registered, if you like fishing...keep having fun doing it YOUR way..the MANUAL WAY. I choose to do it this way..and stay sane, and UNCRIPPLED!!!

Guys..I keep telling you...you will get WAY more ASOS's if you fish Fel, Shame lvl 3, in the moat..there is a ASOS in EVERY cast....trust me!

I SHOULD have had two GM fishers by today, but the revert screwed me :*(
I pulled up my first Ted yesterday, and he's lost forever!! (Even though I died and lost him anyways... I'll let EA take the blame for his death!!)
I'm back to one fisher at 57 skill. Debating on if I'm going to recreate the other(s).

Yeah I want to make em but god I hate giving them all gold, a boat, and then sailing them out to serverline to start training lol. I guess I'll go round up a buncha LRC suits again, do the crystalline ring trick on em, and modify my lil fishing trainer to work magery at the same time lol.
Maybe I'll get em going in an hour or so depending on how quick I can find pendants and alchemist baubles :P

You shoulda seen the idiots in haven when i set them all to auto follow my main char and they ran like an army hahaha.
They're only in the 60's right now. I'll leave em run tonight. If they're still alive when I get up I'll restart em and hopefully they will be dead when I get home. That should mean they will be in the 80's I suppose. lol.

Well I'm running a lil 10 liner or so that tosses the fish & all overboard as it fishes em up. Right now there's 3 rows of junk out in the ocean. It's hilarious because they're like road markings as I'm driving amongst them!

Hmm, I dunno. Clearly your moniker shows you as a "Fisherman". I'm only assuming you are skipping rocks to try and target the illusive "Britannian Flying Fish". :p
P.s. Generally rock skippers can get more than one water landing. You throw like a girl. ROFL!

BTW Cerveza, didn't you try the fishing thing at UOCoders? I'm wondering why you have this tribal disdain for it? It's probably the best scripted thing out there sans lumberjacking/mining.

2 fishermen running...one for nearly 72 hours, one for 48 hours.
Total Serpants: 693
Total MIB's: 284
Total ASOS's: 26
Total Fish Steaks: 141712
Total Serpant Scales: 4456
Color Nets: 14
I actually did 10 of my ASOS's today, fished them up and used the white nets:
#1 No Drop
#2 Titen Leg bone
#3 nothing
#4 nothing
#5 nothing
#6 Dread Pirate Hat
#7 Nothing
#8 Nothing
#9 Phillips wooden Steed
#10 Nothing
I used no luck suit....I also pulled a total of 20 Ropes from the Levis.
Might try the rest of my ASOS's tomorrow

I got connection lost sometime randomly in the night (I have to run on wireless here, and I lose it randomly), and I didn't restart everything this morning before work because on fisher was dead (I forgot to cast protection & magic reflection, so he probably fizzled to death haha).
Hopefully I'll get at least one GM tonight, and the other two tomorrow while I'm working. The best I've got is about 20 Teds.
I'm thinking if I want to script fishing while I'm sleeping/working I may need to figure out how to deal with my connection loss issues. :*(. Oh well, I'll worry about that later. I'm pretty confident I'll pull a squeaker first!! Oh, I forgot you get a seahorse statue, I thought it was a dolphin statue for awhile there and was telling my friend how I was going to get one and she was like wtf there isn't one!!! I blamed it on not having a fishing liscense. (She gets angry because I script everything, and she refuses to "cheat" as she calls it.)

@OMG. I can probably integrate my autolog subs into the FaF. That would be ideal I guess since I kinda have an external interface for them.

Seriously, though. I used to rollplay a red pirate on Napa back when they use to have bounty boards. I have a screenshot of me being the most wanted on the shard. That was fun.

I've killed my share of boaters... mostly for ore. Saves me having to mine.
Come to think of it... I have a ton of blackrock and haven't mined a single piece of it....
But that has nothing to do with fishing so....

Well Boy that was easy thanks to the godly fishing script FAF. Thanks TM!
I did 11 White Nets and received the Ghost Anchor on my 6th Net. All together I was 3 for 11 (Artic Death Dealer. Titan Leg Bone, and the Ghost Anchor). The artifacts actually pop into your pack like a replica or powerscroll and will be there even if you die. My character who threw the net received the artifact all 3 times.
The rope alone that the Leviathan drops makes it worthwhile doing. Now I won't have any trouble recharging my 11th Anniversary Hitching Post and I'll be able to stable and claim my pets at home with no worry about being able to recharge the post. Huzzah!
There's weren't any real tactics involved in taking down the Leviathan. I used 2 accounts. My Fisherman and my Tamer with a Greater Dragon. I don't know how Khameleon is doing it with one account!? He is a Master Fisherman and could probably enlighten us more as to what works and what doesn't. I am just a mere novice....but a lucky one. ;)
From what I saw my first day out at sea whoever casts the white net is pretty much on a suicide mission with little to no chance of survival. I don't think even a ninja with smokebombs could survive. There are too many sea creatures casting spells that constantly unhide you.
I had the character who was throwing the rope place all their items in the hatch so as to avoid insurance penalties. Then I just let him throw the White Net and get eaten.
I would park my Dragon right next to the fisherman/Net Tosser on one side of the boat. Then I would have my tamer go to the opposite end and cast invisibility. Once my tamer was hidden then I would have the fisherman cast the white net.
Fisherman would die in a matter of seconds. I then waited until all the sea monsters targeted my Greater Dragon. Once I knew they had all set their sites on him I would run in and heal with bandage in tandem with Greater Heal Spell. The first time I ran in too soon and I had Serpents attacking me instead of my Greater Dragon. You can't wait too long though....
The one thing I noticed once all Leviathan and sea creatures spawned was that some of the Sea Serpents and Deep Sea Serpents would wander off and not attack my Dragon. So sometimes I was forced to sick my Dragon on the wandering Sea Serpents before they turned their aggression towards me. Being that I use the superior client UOKR this wasn't too difficult. Boy that Bird's Eye view sure comes in handy! ;)
The race is still on! There's still the Sea Horse Statuette to be had! I'm having alot of fun fishing. Good luck guys! :)

The thing with provoke TM is if you fail the beastie is coming after you and that's the last thing you want happening on that small boat. There is no where to run on the open sea! Ack!
I brought my Disco-tamer whose 120/120 and I failed quite a few times trying to discord the Leviathan. I believe the Leviathan is 160 barding difficulty which means even trying to incite lesser monsters on him isn't guaranteed 100% of the time. It could work it just think it has a good chance of back firing on ya. Let me know how it goes. LOL! 8)

as soon as the spawn starts popping target yourself. 99/100 you will be revealed again just cast invis and target yourself again.

I pulled out the ole fisherman the other day been running for about 24 hours now, 4 ASOS, about 8.75 Serps per hour and one colored fish net thus far.
@TM, I was going to donate fishsteaks and scales using FAF but when I recall to the library it is choosing the wrong NPC....I haven't looked at the code yet to see if it is just a simple change I need but just an FYI for ya. If you need any details let me know and I will get all the details of it as I can.

Yeah I even tried to run the donation checked in every way I could, Scales only, Fish only, Both fish and Scales, neither worked :( I am right now just doing it without any donation and just collecting the fish and scales which isn't a big deal since I need to finish my cook anyways and I have my donation script that I can tweak to use for ferrying between the bank and the donation.

The part I find odd about it is that I dont even try to hide my fisherman..I strip him nekid, and let him die. At the last minute I decided to party them up. Well my tamer did ALL the work..the fisherman just keeled (nice use of a boat term there dontcha think) over dead as soon as spawn surfaced...and HE is the one that got the drop...he did NO damage, just droped dead...strange!
Just came back to edit this...did another ASOS after I posted, same thing. Got a polor bear mask..on the DEAD fisherman..so far the guy that has done ALL the killing has got nothing.

Thanks TM....but certianly don't sell the Public Fisherman short, it is a very powerful script..it most deffinatly does what its designed to do..fish and keep the stuff you want to keep from fishing.
Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have the FaF, especially when I look in my bank boxes and see a combined total of over 400k fish steaks that will need to be donated...along with the other 1.2 Mil that HAVE to join it in order to get 2 pr of glasses..being able to donate em "on the fly" would have been great!

This is how I did it:
I had both my fisher/mage, and my tamer/mage on the boat at the same time. I would sail to where the ASOS was and fish it up, then I would stripo my fisherman nekid (to save ins $$$) He would cast the net and wait to die. I would cast Invis on my tamer and wait. POOF spawn...POOF fisherman dead. I wiould use my GD to kill spawn.
I Partied up my two chars..my fisherman had NO...I repeat..NO LUCK whatsoever on...my Tamer was only wearing his reg clothes, so 600 Luck (Bleue set, and AoF) I didnt use my luck statue or anything.
Funny thing is I got 4 drops today...the anchor, polor bear mask, titan bone, and Cap't Quacklebush's cutlass...ALL 4 drops...ALL 4 DROPS dropped on the dead fisherman. The tamer that did ALL the killing (I didnt rez the fisherman til it was over) got NOTHING! I have NO IDEA how OSI figures this stuff out!

My guess would be that the person to recieve the reward is the person who throws the net.

That would be a good guess...until you factor in that when I did nets on monday I got 3 drops and 2 of those went to the Tamer....

see now the same thing sorta happened to me. I fished a load of nets solo, the time I got my Anchor my Cousin joined me.. a mage/bard. I had tossed the nets but he got all my artifacts. he got a Lolo's Lute, A polar bear mask, Gwens harp, then the Anchor. all white items too.. it was freeky.

I've fished up 287 MIBs so far with the autofarmer including 10 ASOSes. Most of the time I'm watching TV while they are getting fished up. Now that's automation!

In my quest for the Sea Horse Statuette I downloaded Kal In Ex's Sos Master last night to fish up my ASOS. Boy did that make things easier! I should have listened more closely and done that a long time ago.
Being the nice guy that I am I ended up dumping the chests in Luna and there was one guy elated that he could have my chests. "YOU ARE GREAT FISHERMAN!" he kept saying. That's the power of the FAF! I think I dumped close to 40 White Chests on him. 8)
So I tossed 40 White Nets today and towards the end I was getting really disgusted. It was starting to remind me of my similar experience with luck in the Twisted Weald >:(
I think I was at 37 Nets and had only gotten 3 Artifacts..then the last 3 nets I ended up getting 2 more artifacts one of which was a Ghost Ship Anchor.
So 5 Artifacts out of 40 Nets.
But the Sea Horse Stattete still eludes me and I dwindled my supply of ASOS. I'm going to have to get back out on the open seas soon! :)

I just reactivated a lil over a month ago.
I landed a ghost ship anchor on my 5th fabled net. And of the 10 or so fabled I've tossed, I get an arti almost every time. Yeah, they suck like violet courage and blaze of death, but I almost always get something. ;)

No, my fisher doesn't wear a luck suit, my tamer does. And yes, it's the Great Lakes OSI shard I play on.

I am selling all of my ASOS on my vendor on GL :) WEll I keep it stocked anyways, they are selling fairly consistenty at 400k per so I am happy with that price especially when I have probaby another 40 or 50 in my bankbox plus the 15 I keep on the vendor at all times for the most part.

If it weren't for bad luck man, I'd have no UO luck at all. I've spent probly totalling 2 weeks TOTAL since Doom came out trying to get an arty. I never got ONE in 2 weeks. I have never been back to that dungeon except for when there was a couple "easy" ways to solo it. :)
