Title: HopKiddo Ninjitsu Trainer
Post by: Paulonius on February 19, 2010, 12:57:33 PM
You must have at least 50 ninjitsu (can be with jewelry) to work.
Script jumps back and forth on a North South Axis
FYI, You are NOT invisible when you shadow jump, you leave a flash.

I have not used it to train all the way to GM yet, but I am testing that now and will post results when available.

Code: [Select]
;=====================================================================
; Script Name:   HOPkiddo Ninjitsu Trainer
; Author: by Paulonius
; Version: 0.10
; Client Tested with:
; EUO version tested with:
; Shard OSI / FS: OSI
; Initial Release Date: 2/19/2010
; Revision Date: TBD
; Global Variables Used: None
; Purpose: Train Ninjitsu with Shadow Jump

; Not an original idea, just something I wanted done differently
; I got the structure of the targetting sub from something Nilmer
; posted in 2003.

; Script is not optimized, per se, but you will train faster with better mana
; recovery and lower mana cost.
;======================================================================
; Directions:
;----------------------------------------------------------------------
; Find a spot with enough room to jump back and forth on a N/S axis of about
; five paces and hit play.
; Keep in mind that you leave a graphic every time you jump visible to others
;======================================================================
; Requirements:
;----------------------------------------------------------------------
; You must have at least 50 Ninjitsu and be able to consistetly hide and stealth

;======================================================================

Test Results:
Test Monkey One --  40 Int human 7% lower mana, 9 MR. 100 med sapping to Ninja
40-60 Ninjitsu in 1.5 hours
60-71 in 1.5 hours (3 total)
71-81.4 5 hours (8 total)

Test Monkey Two -- 40 Int Elf 100 Med stable. 6 MR
50-70 Ninjitsu in 1.5 hours.
70-75 in 1.5 hours (3 total)
75-82.5 5 hours (8 total)

With 100 cap skill gains with shadow jump appear to stop at 87.5.  The script gets there in about 12 hours from 40. I use a +11 jewel to be able to start training with this script at 40 skill.

Have to get a pet and switch to deathstrike to advance further I suppose.

22 Downloads and only one reply? If anyone else has used this without issue it would be another great one to move to the Script Library.

Only issue is that you can't GM using shadow jump.  I wrote this more as an exploration of trying to target a spot on the ground calculated from where you are standing, but it is fun to watch.  I think Rana wrote the same thing somewhere.

So maybe not one for the Library then it sounds?

I don't think so, its more of a snippet.  I have thought about writing a complete ninjitsu trainer using it, but its not on my short list right now.

Thanks for the cap information.  I know its not a 100% trainer, but I thought it was too much fun not to share.  Hope you have had fun with it!

Congratulations your Script has been moved to the script library
(if you dont think the section is appropriate please pm me)
Thank you for your submission

Comments/improvements/suggestions
- maybe add a warning such as below on your first post so no surprises.

Note this script will only train you to a max of 85-90 skill . use another script for the final 15%.

Works Great!  went from 55 to 90.5 in about 3 hours.  Didn't try going any further.  Had 115 stealth, gm hiding, and 115 ninjitsu skill cap.  Also wasn't maxed out yet on skills, showed about 550 skill points total.

Many thanks!

You can get it to go higher if you want to train near a satyr but you can not stay hidden all the time.

I get a problem with it that I cannot teleport to that spot. I've tried many places inside a house and not, off a mount, clear open field full screen not even a bush in the way... it must be clicking in some weird spot?

Nov 2013 - Not sure why, but it had the Sub InitiateStealth casting EV.  Changed it to ShadowJump and it's working beautifully on OSI.  Thank you... ;)

Just a heads up,

Since the last patch, on OSI, this script is bleeding memory somehow. Turn it on and monitor resources and every jump increases the load until finally the screen is near frozen and the account closes.

The missing return statement on the SkillCheck subroutine may be causing your eventual crash.

Never even used this, but if you are using original as posted, that could be your memory leak.

Original:
Code: [Select]
Until #CharGhost = Yes
pause

;==========================================================
Sub SkillCheck
ChooseSkill ninj real
If #Skill = %NinjitsuGoal
   {
   Display You have acheived your goal. Go sneak away and kill someone!
   Halt
   }

;==========================================================
;Ground Targetting
sub targetground

Add at line 73 a return
Code: [Select]
Until #CharGhost = Yes
pause

;==========================================================
Sub SkillCheck
ChooseSkill ninj real
If #Skill = %NinjitsuGoal
   {
   Display You have acheived your goal. Go sneak away and kill someone!
   Halt
   }
return
;==========================================================
;Ground Targetting
sub targetground

My previous message about CPU issues removed, the problem was not related to this script.

If you have problems with this script causing lag or increasing your CPU use dramatically I detailed what I found over here - www.scriptuo.com/index.php?topic=14285.msg116527

was unable to get script to work. 68 ninjitsu. GM hiding 113 stealth.
Script hid me and moved north one square, south one square. stopped working entirely.
Is there something i can adjust to make it work?
(had plenty of room, tried inside and outside houses)

Try to step through the script to see where you are stuck at in the script.  That is always the best way to diagnose what is going on.

Find a spot outside and make sure you can teleport (i tele just one square) walk back one and repeat a few times to be safe.

i change the script to just tele one square to the spot i tested.

keep your cursor close to toon.

then start script.

Anyone have any issues like Timothy did?  I'm having the exact same issue,  all the toon does is go into stealth, back up one, then forward one, then the script stops.  I'm at 55 ninja, gm hiding, and 90 stealth.  I've tried it in my house, outside, and at a friends house.

Downloaded and setup character with:
100.0 meditation
100.0 hiding
 90.0 stealth
 55.0 ninjitsu
I have consumed no PS on this character
starting points 345.0
I am not equipping anything to give me +skill in this list, but I am wearing cuffs of the archmage for the LMC benefits (this armor piece gives +15 resist spells). I have equipped other items to give me about LMC 28%.
I ran the script, but was lacking a Ninjitsu spellbook. Got a spellbook and reran the script.
After a few minutes I am at 56.3 Ninjitsu. Let it run 1 hour = 69.0 skill.
Conclusion: script works without modifications.

I would be curious about your setup and skill point total. You will not get as fast gains if your skill total is very high. Maybe you can soulstone around excess skills.
My setup has the tiles setup, but I don't know if that would make a difference. I tested it in Trammel and in Ter Mur - both worked successfully.
I am testing this out on OSI.
I am not in a house, but on relatively level ground.
North/South is the angle roughly from bottom left to top right corner of my screen (UO North/South). Sometimes people think that North/South would be vertical, so I am just mentioning this for clarification.

I tested out if the destination spot is blocked (by a tree) and it gives the message "Cannot teleport to that spot".
I did the the initial walk back and forth 1 tile while it was trying to hide. It will hide, then take a step to stealth. If stealth succeeds then it proceeds.

Are you wearing armor that doesn't allow you to stealth?

Thanks for the reply Gaderian.  So i started with 91 Stealth, 100 hiding, and 55 ninja (40 real +15 jewel).  I was in the suit that i scripted stealth with so i know it would work.  I was only around the 600 mark with points because this is on a character with skills stoned off.  I too am on OSI, I was in Malas, then moved to fel.  I wonder if i was just too close to the houses?  I am going to try it again tomorrow.  I appreciate you doing some leg work so that I know it will really work if set up properly.

When training stealth, you will have armor that makes stealth challenging. If you change your armor to something that guarantees you can stealth (mage armor or basic leather) you will stealth probably 100% successfully. That should get out of the 1 tile move attempts. If your target location to shadow jump is not blocked, then it should proceed.
