Scripting Chat / New error showing up in journal

Heya,

They activated the latest expansion on my shard this morning but the patch isn't forced. I completed a trade with someone and an error message popped up.  "error: megacliloc not found". It showed up in game as a message and on my journal which, if a GM or some type of anti-bot program looks, is right there for them to see. I only had EUO running at the time and had no scripts running at all during the trade.

Should I be worried that this is showing up in my journal?

Scripting Chat / Idoc error messages, the new speed cap

My loot script, which I'm finding ways to improve, is constantly triggering the idoc version of "you must wait...". The error is bright red and only happens at idocs, it's part of the new OSI attempt to stop scripters from looting too much. Unlike the generic version these stop you cold and if you don't wait you reset the timeout period.

There is a way around this, but I don't know what that is yet. I know there's a way around it because I've used fraps to record a few idocs and I see just how fast others can loot. With the new rules making my script faster won't help, so how are the other scripters so much faster? How are they avoiding the mini-lockout periods that you now get for going too fast?? Is there a new pen trick? lol.

- A player backpack can hold 550 stones maximum even if the character is strong enough to carry more

- A player can weigh 590 stones maximum when counting worn gear(550 pack plus 40 more for gear that isn't counted against the 550 weight cap if it's worn)

- A typical fully geared player with 140 strength total that is carrying the max 550 stones in his pack will weight somewhere between 580 and 590 stones and the in game status bar will say 580/590, you're not overloaded.

If you open the EUO status bar, however, it says that MAXWEIGHT is only 530 stones despite the game status bar saying 550 is available in the pack, there's a 20 stone discrepancy between EUO max pack weight and the in game max pack weight.

Scripting using maxweight results in a failed attempt at 531 stones even if you could carry 550 in your pack in total. Where is this 20 stone reduction coming from? Is this a bug? The stats being displayed for my character are accurate in EUO but the #Maxweight for my pack is not, it's 20 stone short.

Stealth Client / Stealth vanishes when minimized

Is it an intended feature for Stealth to vanish when I minimize it? I get a new smaller window called Stealth-Client DLL Form but the tab for the stealth page is no longer there. It's causing me some problems because the map button is on the vanishing tab and not the mini tab which replaces it.

General UO Chat / Archer Fisherman Template/skills Discussion

Hey, I've been on my fisherman and thought sharing a few ideas about templates might be fun. If you are ONLY doing fishing at sea then you only really need a slayer bow even without GM skill and you'll be fine, this is for the total package fisherman who does dungeon fishing, quests and pulls up his own nets. Archery is probably not the way to go for the two bosses unless you're geared to the teeth, and even then you'd use a ship with cannons instead, but everything else is doable with an archer. This is my template right now...

120 Fishing
100 Archery (80 real + 20 from Hunter's Headdress)
100 Tactics  (70 real + 30 from jewels)
100 Musicianship
100 Provoke
100 Hiding
100 Resisting Spells
80 Chivalry (50 real + 30 from jewels)
-------------------------------------------------
800 skill, 720 real + 80 from items

I love this template because I can handle dungeons, nets and other stuff via provoke and hiding while still doing decent damage. You may have noticed that there is no anatomy which translates into a 55% lower damage bonus to the base provided from Archery, that is intentional because, in my opinion, having cap resist and hiding provides much more utility than anatomy, especially without healing in places like Doom, and it's not always about brute force as any bard can tell you!

80 Chivalry = 100% chance that consecrate weapon does damage of the type your target is weakest to, no elemental weapon needed.

I do have anatomy on soulstone to swap out the resist if I want to do more damage to provoked targets and am not likely to take heavy casting damage or curses(doom!). The template also allows you to swap out the jewels for a set with no chivalry if you want to add more of something else, like luck. I do have a lot of high end gear on to maximize SSI, MR and other important stuff but I feel like I can go anywhere with this character and be hard to kill.

Base Stats are 100 STR, 100 Dex, 30 int with the 5 bonus. That might seem like an awfully low amount of mana/dex but as long as your armor has max mana regeneration and 10 more mana(total=40) it's not a problem, especially with high resist, hiding and provo. Note: get Stamina to 120 minimum via gear and to 150+ if you can, you can speed up the damage(SSI) with divine fury if you're not being hit too much(it lowers defense). Overall the get out of danger free card provided by having both provo and hiding with resit more than make up for not having anatomy and I find myself rarely switching anat for resist unless I'm in a group.

Stealth Client / Cannot play without Stealth after running it

Hi,

I took stealth for a spin tonight, very impressed with it, but without scripts for IDOCs and Fishing etc I couldn't actually play with it so I went back to EUO afterwards. Problem, I could no longer log in when using EUO or without, even running the UO.exe and updating the client did not solve the problem. I did a complete uninstall and re-install of UO and that solved the problem.

- Error given when trying to log in was "you cannot connect right now, try again later"
- Only affected logging in from any source BUT Stealth, I could still log in with Stealth
- My account login name kept getting replaced with "stealthClient"

How can I avoid this the next time I run Stealth?

Stealth Client / Request: Small modification to the stealth map system

First I want to say that I just downloaded the latest version and have been running around with it a bit and am blown away by its potential. Slick, fast, very nicely done so far! Unfortunately none of the script types I need are available on Stealth and so I have no use for it, yet, and I'd like to help change that. While I can't code Python/Pascal making me useless in that department I do know what I want from a helper program and always have ideas.

Request
What I'd like to request is a change that is, hopefully, minor to the mapping system already available in stealth without any scripts. When I run around I see player housing on the map along with yellow/blue markers for NPC Vendor and player positions. It would be extremely useful to me if a toggle option existed to turn OFF those NPC/Player markers and turn ON markers that appear above house signs and color code those by house condition. Blue for refreshed thru red for in danger of collapse. An option should exist to turn on/off the NPC markers anyway, adding one for house signs would take this to a new level for players who do IDOCs in my opinion, which is a lot of scripters in general.

Map Interaction
When I right-click the map an option appears to "go here" wherever I have my mouse over the map. If that feature existed without needing to open the drop menu forcing a mouse move and extra click that would be amazing. IE: turning on/off the ability to go into "go here" mode so a one button click is enough to go there would be perfect. Also, I noticed that when I use the "go here" feature that there is no way to stop moving until the player gets there, that might be dangerous since you can't see what's there on the map until you get there. A halt option seems needed, I already ran into a public keep and ran upstairs just to get to a spot I clicked, lol, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

If you don't have the time to add an option to turn off NPC markers(yellow) and add house sign markers with colors based on condition can you point me in the right direction so that I can try to make said changes? I would be able to use stealth with no scripts to look for idocs using that awesome map system.

General UO Chat / My Idoc Dilema, what to do?!

I've been running a most excellent IDOC finding script from right here in the script section, can't tell you which because I don't want to play favorites and they are all good in one way or another, but the abundance of IDOCs I've attended in the past week thanks in part to that script are revealing a rather frustrating problem.

I wrote my own Idoc "wrecking" script last year primarily for Fel Idocs and I love it but it's not working out so well in trammel since the changes went into effect since then.

The Problem
- I'm getting beaten quite soundly in trammel regardless of which script I am using

Some options
- Rework my script(s)

A Vacuum
- I'm basically going to tweak things until I have a vacuum script that sucks up everything onto my own pack horses, which is probably similar to better scripts with all the pathfinding and prioritizing goodies. At least then I'd actually grab more items, not necessarily better items, but more.

- Doing weight checks and item number checks will be needed to not overload, not too hard

- Pack horse support

Any help appreciated, as always.

General UO Chat / Need a few good fletching resource sites

I finished putting together a stupidly expensive luck suit for my ABC archer that squeezed as much of everything I need into it. I saved getting a good bow for last and I thought it would be easy to pick up a Compound Bow with HML, HSL, SSI, DI and the right Slayer since every cookie cutter ABC archer needs those on their PvM bow, boy was I wrong. I did find one bow that was 4/5 of what I wanted but the guy wanted 38 million for it?!? That told me I need to add fletching to my mule asap, so I did.

Now I want to fill my archer's locker with a lot of compound bows which maximize damage vs individual monsters. What I'd like to know is how to efficiently make these and there seems to be very little online that has much definitive(or recent) value. I won't be using the enhance tool so I'll be using runics... probably an ash runic? What's the process though? I'm only needing 35 SSI to reach 1.25 ticks so I'm not too worried about max intensities.

- use normal wood and eat the fails on the enhance attempt later or use ash wood up front?
- Gears add the slayer? If so, at what stage do you use those?
- How do I maximize the chance of getting the 4 bonuses I want along with the slayer?
- It doesn't help that I want to match damage type to the slayer type(sea serpents are weak to energy damage + snake/reptile slayer for example).

This is all stuff I'll figure out eventually but I like to read up on stuff first and Google has been stingy on the subject, if you know how to make these cookie cutter ABC bows and don't mind sharing how you do it, or you know of a good resource site for fletching PvM ABC bows I'd appreciate the help if you'd share a link.

ABC archers aren't as popular as they used to be, throwers are more fun imo, and they don't hold a light to "sampy suits" in terms of what everyone is after but surely there has to be a few good places to describe the process somewhere?

Scripting Chat / Rune Marking Script and Idea

Hey fellow scripties,

I came looking for a rune marking script to mark a bunch of runes to my shop but alas, I found none. If I missed one could you point me in the right direction? If I didn't because none really exists yet... well that's a problem that needs fixing and I might write it up myself! (eventually, not as much play time as I'd like).

What it should do
Ideally I would simply buy a bunch of blank runes, mark them in my shop and drop them in a bag when marked so they are ready to hand out.

Best Use: I've been searching for Idocs using TMs locator script and it dawned on me that I should be dropping a rune to my shop in the mailboxes I pass, it's better than dropping them all over the ground. Also, I do mean marking IN my shop, not out front of it. If you mark a rune INSIDE your shop it automatically puts the name of your shop on the rune and, the best part, it makes that name permanent on the rune so people don't just remark/rename it. Well, they can remark it if they like but can't change the name after :)

*tip* Change the house name to be whatever you want written on the rune before marking, advertise rares etc, and change it back after. Also, set up a Steward in your house and name it "Ask For A RUNE" or some other suggestive name so that it hands out a rune if anyone says rune(or whatever word you use). Stewards double as mannequins so at least one is worth having just so that it hands out runes.

As you've probably guessed from my other posts I enjoy a bit of danger while trying to get rich in UO. I prefer fel idocs over tram and I roleplay the pirate style using a character with a template that can not kill anything. I just wanted to share with you how incredibly profitable that is.

Basic skills
- Hiding
- Stealth (freedom to move anywhere is essential)
- Magery (primarily for heals, marking and recall but also for telekinisis/unlock on chests, etc, many uses)
- Snooping
- Stealing (if I get beat to an item I really want I generally try to lift it from the player, useful in other places like doom)

With just those 5 skills you are having a blast already, the thief guild disguise kit is awesome fun. At fel Idocs you can actually LET others loot good stuff and just target them, use them as a filter to find good items. It's a bit risky but with some practice there is rarely an idoc in which you don't get *something*. Not killing stuff gets better... a lot of activities require two skills to use properly so you can pair them up in sets and add them via soulstone to fit what you're doing... example

Extra skills - stored on soulstones for use when you need em
- Carto and Lockpick, you can do all of your fishing tmaps and just hide while examining loot. You can kite the mobs away and hide to leave them there if they become pesky, I find this the best source of alacrity/trans scrolls since the time involved is minimal since you're not fighting stuff. You don't need GM carto or lockpick to handle any fishing tmaps.

- Detect and tracking, great for uncovering and marking other stealthers at fel idocs, it's fun to eliminate some competition by revealing them for someone else to kill. Loot them both with stealing if you spot something good but people rarely bring good stuff to idocs.

Other characters
You can always bring in your "other" characters if you must fight something but if you haven't tried it yet I definitely recommend building a no-fight character as well, they cause more mayhem than fighters sometimes.

*note* when doing tmaps or dungeon runs to kill off time between idocs I recommend TMs claw scripts, most items in chests are junk and it's a huge timesaver.

*BONUS*
if you're going to do your fishing tmaps quick and dirty for max time efficiency(hiding, leaving junk behind etc) then by all means build out a full luck suit!  Wait, what? Full luck on a character that doesn't kill anything? Yes sir - http://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/player/stats/luck/    Shhhhh! Suit building is much easier when you don't have to worry about pesky fighting stats, full luck/resists/defence/regen is easy without offensive stuff.

Scripting Chat / Denial of play happening with some idoc scripts?

"You have to wait before performing another action", but I hadn't done anything, this is what happened.

Trammel Idoc off the beaten path which I did not see anyone else at, thought I might have it to myself. When the house fell there were perhaps 40 or so items and a half dozen chests with low level items, most had been banked before the owner shut the account down. I didn't run a script to loot because I saw no competition in my journal at all, no need to hit play so to speak.

I picked up chests first and dumped them on my boat right beside the idoc and was cleaning up items, mostly flowers, for whatever turn in value they might have and suddenly I could no longer pick up items. At that point, which was almost exactly 60 seconds after the house fell, two stealthed players appeared next to me. A chest that had fallen which was still in my pack vanished and appeared several times and both stealthers walked right to me. They were ignoring the flowers but I could no longer pick them up either, the other action message wouldn't go away.

We all stood there for a long moment and at EXACTLY the same time both stealth characters hit recall. If this had happened when I was running a script I'd have thought the script bugged out but it wasn't on. My best guess is that the other two guys were running a script that was slow to detect the house down and they followed me as if pathfinding before suddenly both stopping and not moving.

Anyway, it screamed of script but my concern is that if a script is indeed the cause for me getting denial type errors, even if unintentionally, then someone is going to scream at UO about "scripters" and that's not good for any of us. I WISH I knew who the two guys were, if you were a stealther at an IDOC last night in trammel around 9pm send me a PM so we can see what's going on and perhaps fix it.

If anyone knows about this type of can't perform action messages even when you hadn't done anything more than successfully pick something up let me know, it was my first time running into it recently.

Hello,

Since re-subbing a couple of days ago I've been to three IDOCs (OSI official shards, 2 in Tram, 1 in Fel) and I've yet to see a "Grubber". The UO website says that these will appear when a house falls and run off with some of the loot. I've checked my journal closely and haven't been in range of one... do these mystical beings exist still? If so do they grab good loot exclusively? Hard to kill for a stealth/thief?

Also, I can't use EasyUO since coming back because new subs get client 7.0.45.8x from EA but EasyUO is still at 7.0.45.7x. I've been wondering, with the new IDOC timers of 5-10-15 hours from "in danger", if it is possible to set up a script to read the sign for a change from "Greater" to "Collapse" and to perform an action that will tell me when that happened(screenshot to get timestamp if collapse change is detected?)? I can't test it yet since I can't script but it would seem that if it's possible that it might explain why so many show up a few minutes before a house falls?

Scripting Chat / Vendor Search script, does one exist?

I monitor vendor search occasionally for specific items on my "wish list" but this is becoming tedious as my list grows and so a script is in order! I did find a lot of scripts designed to check vendors but none that actually perform searches on UO's vendor search gump, did I miss one if it exists?

3rd party sites like searchUO help in finding some items but not as well as vendor search could because searchuo is limited by the fact they don't monitor ALL vendors and don't update as quickly.

If you know of an actual vendor search script that I can feed a list of items I am looking for into I'd be grateful if you could point me to it. Thanks.
