So I have been rebuilding my credit since my divorce. I have raised it from a miserable 540 to 700+ in just a year and a half. There is one thing left on my credit that I cannot get rid of. Its a collection from several years ago. I hired a attorny to dispute it. He sends them a letter to verify the debt, if they don't respond in thirty days they have to remove it by law. This collections company keeps sending me letters saying that they have no record of me in their system, but its as plain as day on my credit report, same address, state, everything for the collections company. This has been going on for about a year, they have responded several times, its to the point where the collections begging me to stop sending them those letters, HA! Shoes on the other foot now! I have been hounded by creditors before so i know what its like. Even if it is the wrong collection company, I don't feel bad and am not gonna tell my attorny to stop sending verification letters anytime soon. Am I wrong? haha. Hell yea I am wrong! lol.
