General UO Chat / Re: UOP to MUL converter - The De-convolver

I'm a lazy bastard, one brain cell of your effort would probably save me a couple of hours of learning about c#/.net   ;) ... however I understand your position.  Will probably code something barebones in oeuo; won't be able to handle uop files that contain compressed content though.

when click run... it runs it via Ximans EUO Emulator work ??

It could, unfortunately, couple of bigger problems than integration.  Main one is that there's no reasonable way to bring the emulator and easyuo into complete congruence.  As such, very few public scripts run 'as is' under emulation, and only an experienced scripter is able to pinpoint what's going on.  Could be a script bug, emulator bug, or an unavoidable difference between emulator and easyuo behavior.  For example, the emulator catches and reports mismatched parentheses and braces.  In such cases the emulated result of affected code is typically different than what easyuo produces.

What other pre-uop files do people need access to, if any?  C# or .net would be better suited for a general purpose converter than oeuo (can't read registry or read/write files outside oeuo directory, no zlib) if people need things besides map access (art files or whatever).  TM have you considered open sourcing your deconvolver?  Worst case I suppose someone could go in and modify UO Fiddler to export converted files.

Awesome EN!    8)

ximan makes everything sound simple.  I wish I had 1/2 of his brain.  lol
  pickled or on the half shell?  not smart, guaranteed strange!
I'd laugh if you got the emotional half.
Ewww, don't go there;  nerd rage, loyalty card rage, ...

Thanks for the fix!

Glad I found it early on, lol.  Only lost 5 minutes worth of code.  I woulda cried had I coded for 2 hours.  I'm a terrible saver.

Now that would be an interesting function ... autosave ... ummm

Funny I logged in to suggest that as well.  You could measure how much change has occurred to a file and automatically back it up with a special suffix, appending a datestamp comment to the beginning or end of the script.

I turned on your request of anoymous functions and tested it on ximans emulator library... had to turn it off again.

Lolz, fortunately most sane scripts aren't going to be structured like it (plus, there are around 474 functions defined).  I tend to write all functions in the form local x = function() ... end ,  or group them in tables, maybe that is the problem.

You could also configure it at the DNS level.  such as OpenDNS family service... im sure thiers others as well.

http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions/parental-controls/
That's a good place to start.  Don't forget to block access to other free dns provider ip addresses at the router.  A tech savvy kid will be able to get around all that though. If they are using mobile devices then controls really need to be installed/enabled on the device itself like chrome suggested. I'm not even sure if there is a way to lock out adding other wifi connections.

The question eventually devolves into from where do you want your kid exploring the 'net; your router and devices, or someone else's.

Hi TM,

Can you please re-post the .UOP to .MUL converter? The link doesn't seem to work anymore :(

Also...how many bytes did you have to strip off for conversion of artidx.mul?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

I don't think the conversion process is as straightforward as was earlier believed.  With regard to the artidx.mul file, I'd be surprised if you can simply 'strip off' the initial uop header (haven't looked at it, however it's not possible with other (map) .uop files due to headers on individual chunks within them).

While TrailMyx might have updated his deconvolver, the download link doesn't appear to point to anything at the moment.

Current military.  Active Duty Air Force.  And that's all you'll get out of me, spy!

Cool one of my best friends is leaving for Chair Force OCS in Jan  ;)

He's setup to be a weapons officer.. whatever that is for you all.

Air Force calls it OTS.  Thought they rolled weapons system officer and navigator up into one new rated category, combat system officer.  If that's what  your friend was promised, hopefully they will follow through.  Once you're part of the system though, specialty is whatever they assign you.  Been there (OTS), done that (IRR).

Between reforging, imbuing, and now this super loot, my old chars would probably die of embarrassment if I ever reactivated them... just about everything I've got squirreled away in their banks is maybe worth about a box of rocks now.

That's why she has a 12,000 volt smile...

If you watch from 0:09 to 0:11 a couple of times, you'll clearly see a dangling cable sweep from left to right (look for it against the white fuselage area above the open door) and the main rotor strikes it near 0:11.  The main rotor and engine mounting rips loose, and the tail folds under from the torque on the unsupported tail rotor axle.

Visited Arromanches, Pointe du Hoc as well as the American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer a couple of years back.  Sobering.  One memorial wall depicts portions of the aerial campaigns preceding and part of Operation Overlord; a truly stunning application of air power that for many is overshadowed by the amphibious assault, running the gamut from cutting inland supply routes, to deception ops, to the airborne assault preceding the landing.

Script Debug / Re: Pre-AoS Bod Script
« on: May 09, 2012, 04:01:01 PM »
Im not sure what its expecting. I cant figure that part out. Im far too nub to know whats going on with this old script. Ive done all I can with it. I just know it suppose smelts items if they are not "exceptional" but not sure how it is suppose to determine that.

I didn't do any crafting back then (my carpenter doesn't count).  On pre-aos shards was a system message generated like "You affix your maker's mark" whenever an exceptional item was created?

The word 'mark' isn't present anywhere else in the script hence it is expecting it to arise in the journal due to an external factor.  If found, it aborts the sub.

Code: [Select]
gosub smelt
stop

sub smelt
for %l 1 3
{
scanjournal %l
display ok #journal
if mark in #journal 2
deletejournal
return
}

display ok didn't find mark, smelting
; ...
return
