Ok, I'm sitting here trying to think of my top 5 funniest movies I've ever seen. So far, he's my list in no particular order:
. Hot Shots I & II (they were both good)
. Young Frankenstein
. So I Married an Axe Murderer
. Dumb and Dumber (sorry, I thought it was funny)
. ....cant' think of a 5th
What say you?
-
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
You cannot beat that movie. IT IS HILARIOUS!
-
I am definitely with "Robin Hood, Men in Tights", "Young Frankenstein" (or should I say Frahnkenshteen), and yes I agree with "Dumb and Dumber", what can I say? LOL.
Man, there are so many funny movies out there but if I had to list a couple of my favorites it would be a combination of some older and some newer:
Space Balls <---- oh yeah, I said it
Old School
Caddyshack
Superbad
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
And I have to say, Kung Fu Panda had me laughing so hard when I took my daughter to see it that I thought I was going to choke to death.

Oh yeh definitely Space Balls (are we tending to see that Mel Brooks is the MAN!>?!?"
Anyhow, I may need to sticky a list of the funny ones in no particular order assuming we can get a few people to agree. I do need to see Kung Fu Panda; it sounds like a couple people I've chatted with so far have enjoyed it to the point of requiring an undergarment change.

Hey, Who told you?!?!?!?! I thought tying a sweater around my waste and running to the car before the credits were done rolling should would saved me some embarassment!

<edit> oh, almost forgot - and again on the Mel Brooks theme, "History of the World: Part I" was damn funny. Even movies he did with Richard Prior: "See No Evil, Hear No Evil", "Stir Crazy" ("Yeah, we bad...we bad...and we don't want noooo *bleep*...yeah, nooooo *bleep*"). And who can forget "Blazing Saddles" of course!
-
You know, I had never watched "History of the World, Part I" until just a couple weeks ago. That one is fun too. I tell you, Madeline Kahn (Princess Nympho) is hilarious in it (as well as Young Frankenstien). Count de Monet. rofl.
-
Kung Fu Panda ROCKED... i was laughing with my nephew the whole time. Any Mel Brooks movie is the bomb. There are some great comedies out there that are way before mel brooks even. Some Like It Hot...GREAT OLD MOVIE. Arsenic and Old Lace..hilarious. Carrey Grant rocked the scenes back then. Same with Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau.
-
I have to add "Hot Fuzz" to the list. Man, I have nothing but good things to say about it. Funny, and I enjoyed the directing.
-
Every one i know that has seen "Tropic Thunder" has said they have never seen a funnier movie... personally i havent seen it yet but with those kinda reviews im certainly looking forward to it.
-
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Superbad "McLovin lol"
Space Balls
Robin Hood : Men in Tights
Austin Powers (cant remember which one)
Home Alone (when ur kid u love this)
Three Amigos (not sure, been ages since i seen it)
Happy Gilmore
Mr. Deeds
Anger Management (im so pretty, oh so pretty,.... )
......

I liked Office Space alot Milton was hilarious "Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler... " , " I could put... strychnine in the guacamole." He was a hoot.
Pure Luck with Martin Short and Danny Glover was my kind of movie too.
And Stir Crazy with Gene Wilder and Rcihard Pryor. Them getting ushered into Prison was funny as hell.
-
Ohhh, Office Space, how could i forget that one. Brilliant and funny movie!
I'm getting closer to being able to generate THE LIST!! Keep the suggestions coming.
-
I cant beleave noone has said the Evil Dead series or even Shawn of the Dead. Yeah everything is bad about it but come on, I laugh my ass off watching them.

Evil Dead I was only kinda funny. However EDII was a riot. My personal favorite was Army of Darkness, though. I believe I own like 5 different copies of AoD and I even have the necronomicon version and also the "Shop Smart" Ash action-figure.

office spaces is very good

Team America Baby! *bleep* Yea!!!
I can't believe I forgot about that one then TM reminded me cause he was watching Southpark ;D
Goddamn that was a funny movie!
I wish they would make a sequel to that :)
Kim Jong II stole the show.
"Hans Brix? Oh no! Oh, herro. Great to see you again, Hans!"
-
You know, that's one of those movies I have wanted to see, but never got around to it. Thanks for reminding me about it!
-
If you want to try something different. I'll recomend Pass the Ammo, Tim Curry as a TV evangelist. Its a real hoot.

Oh man, I finally got around to watching Team America. You have redeemed yourself in my eyes Ultima! (even though you're a Jarr Jarr fan...) That's a hirarious movie!
Boy, they couldn't have chosen the members of the Film Actors Guild (FAG) any better. Perfect! They were just missing Whoopie.
-
No no you mean shortround Temple of Doom! I hated Jar Jar from I-II. He drove me crazy....
I'm glad you got to see it especially being that your a big South Park Fan. I absolutely love that movie. The more times I watched it the more I appreciated little things here and there that I missed the first time around watching it ;D
The song at the end brought tears to my eyes because it was so funny. "You are worthless Alec Baldwin and Your career is stalling"
Man "Trey Parker" racked those guys over the coals...
Even though I don't watch much South Park (My roommate and best friend swears by it) the movie really showed me what a genius Trey Parker is. The little things like putting the "F" back in Freedom were really clever and funny.
Gonna Tivo again next time it comes on. Got a bigger harddrive from weaknees so now I can afford to keep things longer. But it's time for me to see it again. 8)

Being a pretty heavy SP fan me and about 10 buddies went to the theater and saw the movie on opening day and I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in my life. Right from the opening scene where the deer jumps across the street and pees on the snow which then gets scooped up and eaten by Stan while singing the opening song.

I have my dual-tuner TiVo hacked to 500GB, and my TiVo HD bumped to 1TB. :) I had all kinds of mods to my series 1 before I retired it.

What's truly amazing is that you can watch all their episodes without commercials on the South Park Studios website. When they did that, they gained an extra amount of respect from me.

Yea we might need a Tivo Thread so I can learn all the ins and outs. I got the DirectTV Tivo upgraded to 300 Hours recently. Man it makes a world of difference having that much storage. But I'm gonna have to invest in an HD Tivo once Direct TV and Tivo come out with a new DVR in 2009. They split up for a few years and just recently got back in business together. I think Direct TV thought they could set up a similiar interface/programming as Tivo and they were dead wrong. The Direct TV DVR's without Tivo are horrible imo...slow slow slow. Interface is horrible too. Anyhow I look forward to getting TiVo in HD next year.
How's that for vearing OT? :P
-
Did someone say South Park (http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/207897)?
-
not to hijack this thread, but if you like southpark, have you ever seen a canadian tv show called trailer park boys. huge recommendation

I bought a HD Tivo last spring on Woot during a Woot-off and it's still sitting in the box in my bedroom LOL. Just have not been energized enough to bother trying to get my cable company to send me the correct cable-card so that I can get it setup. I just went through 4 months of billing hassles with them and right now they are basically paying me to be their customer and I don't want to screw that up thus the Tivo sits, brand new, in a box, never been kissed. <sigh>
