Hopefully its just a connection like mentioned above. I guess a static charge is possible but its not like you were near a memory card or something...

Get rid of the cd player first

Get rid of the cd player first

Try what Gimlet says. Then I would disconnect everythig that is not essential (IE hardrive, video card) and try to listen for beep code on post if you do get them then try connecting one item at a time till you do not boot up.

Ya i pretty much did all that. First thing i did was remive the cd roms power then i discontected all the other hds powered them all up 1 by 1. I might as well strip it down and rebiuld it see if i get anything new. Might be time to part some of the old hardware together to at least get on line.  Thank god for my i touch. Wow did i really say that?

Try and reset your CMOS.  My MB goes bonkers every once in a while.  That sometimes does the trick.

Don't worry i have a computer that has been down for 2 years.. haven't even parted it out yet because the only problem is turning it on..  the switch in the front won't power it on...  eventually i might get it back up again....

wriggle the ram or remove it and re-seat it... sometimes when i mess with one of my machines ide connections similar happens and worked it out as a shaky ram connection... fine unless you touch it.
