Am I the only one that doesn't have one and hates Facebook like a wart plague?

I have one, but also hate the company behind it and thier total lack of respect for thier members. But it does enable easy contact with my physically distant family members... try as i might I cannot seem to get them to shift to dispora

While certainly not as active as many in my family, I do have one. It is the most convenient way to keep in touch with friends and family all in one place. Being able to see photos of the new cousins in the family that I've never met is nice.

I've got one though I am bored of it shortly after I opened it. Best thing to come of it is my old highschool sweet heart contacted me on it and now I get to call her my wife. Not to many can say they managed to marry the highschool sweet heart so that is a bonus.

Have one and use it. Staying in Contact with Peoples i met in UO and other Games and who have no ICQ\MSN\AIM.
I use Facebook to communicate content of my Traineeship like classwork solutions, Homework and such.
I personal think in times like know it doesnt matter where we register.. as long as we have internet , the route who gets our Personal Information is not higher or lower.. it only decides the queue who rape it first and last.

Every now and then, there is a facebook game that strikes our interest. They all require gifts from friends, so we made our own friends.
Do not buy this stock people! I figure at least 2/3s of the accounts are people like me!

@ Canuker... I can say I married my highschool sweetheart heh. It's sad but funny when our anniversary rolls around it's 6 married / 16 together lol..
Anyway.... Facebook is EVIL, which is why I let the wife do all that hard face-booking ?? & I just get to reap the rewards.
Wife: "Hey were going over for a BBQ tonight.."
Me: "Sweet I didn't know so & so had today off work"
Wife: "He doesn't... they have the steaks, your BBQ'ing em"
LoL.... so went Labor day. Working for a restaurant bleh.... sucks for him!

I think FB has value right now, but I doubt he model in the long run and suspect that we will "connect" with the people we want to in another way in ten years. -- Plus the company is run really "douchey" -- which makes me think Zuckerberg is a douche.
I wouldn't buy the stock either.

It is hard to believe that even at this price the forward looking price/earnings for FB is around 40. All said though you can't blame Zuck for milking the IPO for all it was worth, that is jsut part of the deal and clearly the market thought it was all good for at least one day.

I almost bought into the IPO. Due to a technical issue with my order, it was cancelled before executing. Thank goodness!

I do not have FB either. I believe it is to easy to pester people, temptation, or find information about people. It also has too many lopp holes in the software design. If you take a look around the net there are tons of utilities for hacking fb accounts, walk thrus on what to look for in photos to collect information about people. FB is a problem waiting to happen to any of us :)

I work in the investment buisness up here and on the IPO date we all placed a bet for the closing price. I won after saying it would close negative and the other 4 people in my team all were strongly positve. There have been other FB's in the past with myspace being a great example. FB is a good model with a massive base to work from but the issues raised pre IPO were clear. The leadership is not buisness focused and wishes to change the world? The real ability for a company to use the tool to direct traffic to thier product is still largely not understood just as where the traffic comes from in the first place. If GM thinks that the small part of thier marketing budget was poorly spent it's not like they couldn't have just continued to spend the money and see if it went better but instead they pulled the plug fully, clearly they didn't see anything worth the effort.
I understand that he might have become rich beyond numbers people like us could understand but as of the annoncement of going public they/he have new people to answer to other than who makes the best hoodie. They really need a proper front man/woman and let the boy grow to be the man.

I also had no doubts that the stock was overpriced at ipo.... this is my take on thier biz (MY OWN TAKE). They are a data broker, they face a number of obstacles
- Europe is enforcing every tighter privacy laws
- india, russian, china, brazil + other markets mainly use they homegrown alternatives
So thier main market is US based customers (due to USA almost non existant private data protection laws)
They are not going to increase their USA memberbase by huge numbers
Alot of thier USA customers are under 18 and thus have limited spending power.
An ever increasing number of thier customers access only via mobile devices .. thus see 0 advertising.
I predict that in the future as more and more US personal data makes it into public databases thier will be a public backlash and thus a tightening of those laws.
To me this adds up to a rapidly falling revenue stream, with ever increasing data storage costs, and unterminable future market. Espeacilly if they dont figure out how to incorporate advertising into the mobile app and fast.

Nope, I'm in the same club. No FB account nor do I want one.
