Hrmm, I would second that watching a 3yr old and a 8 yr old opening gifts was the best part. As for myself I got:
2 pairs of bespoke pants made by Panta Clothing http://www.pantaclothing.com/ one 100% cashmere and the other a cashmere and wool blended cord, might not be the forum regular talk but they are beyond amazing.
A few new undershirts, harmony one remote, new hatchet, some money, copy of the December Playboy from the wife, a framed limited edition Dennis the Menace picture and stamp from the UK royal mail.

I'm 28. I don't get much any more. :(
I got 150$ to rent a car to come home for xmas
I got about 100$ in total from relatives for xmas.
I got some sweets and some tupperware sets.
I think my gf got more *bleep* than I did from my family. Bastards.
I think she (who is at home in IA, I'm in MI) got me running gear.
The problem is that I don't like 'junk' and my family isn't the most well to do, so I'd rather it be this way. I'll save my money and make the purchases of things I like. Plus, as a grad student, I'm poor so I don't really buy xmas presents for anyone either.. nor do I expect much. I'm happy just to come home, get whasted and play ucher with my parents.. lord knows I can't find that card game in IA (where I lived for the last 5 years) or IN (where I live now)

Heh... it's not about who racks up the most expensive haul. I've had many a Xmas where the best gift I both received & gave were NERF guns from my 2 little bro's (8 years younger @ a min) Heh that year my Dad took me shopping & saw what I purchased for my brothers & got me 1 also on the sly. Soooo much fun ! You'd think the 3rd time someone yelled "My Eye! My Eye" the parents would have had enough, but they just got out the sun glasses for us. (Ahh... the fun of Xmas at home... Heck I was probably like 18 at the time) Anyway, not a contest. It's just fun to see what other people consider a good gift. Cashmere pants for example ~$300 ?? = P I bet they are amazing heh. Hmm... actually I can totally see the "You gotta feel these pants sweetheart" comment coming lol.

I agree.
That's why I said the best part for me was coming home and spending time with family :)

Funny you said that about the pants Alpha. We had a friend over for Christmas dinner who was a front line machine gunner for the Canadian Army last night and he rolled his eyes when I told him about the pants. However when I showed them to him and he felt the fabric the tone changed from "that is stupid and you are a moron Mr. Canuker" to "Wow, I think I have to buy some of these". I work in a stuffy office where how one dresses is a indication of where on falls on the totem pole and I have a reputation to keep up with.
http://epicureandealmaker.blogspot.ca/2012/11/the-rules.html see rule number 7. I'm not in IBing but retail stock market investing and I run a portfolio worth a little over $400mil.
That all said the best part was having the kids around, my mom and mother in-law, my buddy and his dog all over for the day. A cold beer http://www.innisandgunn.com/en/the-range/spiced-rum-2012.aspx and a bowl of something yummy at the end. And, if the dad is so lucky, a little christmas cheer from the wife to say goodnight.

No but it's a good read. It speaks to younger people and what they should expect of themselves and others which, sadly, seems to be lacking in today's office I think.
