So...shattered the glass in our iPad 2. Anyone have any experience with these places that have you mail in the device for repair?
Anyone have any other thoughts for getting it fixed?

Thoughts on Repair??? No.
Thought about what kinda case I should have on it when I take a 3 yr old to D-land in Sept.... YEA. As it stands the little one doesn't understand why my computer is "always broken" because my 22" monitor isn't a touch screen heh.

No, but it costs around 150 to fix.
Also, a guy up in IT where I work bought a repair kit and fixes them himself.

He doesn't live in Sacramento, by any chance?

WILL IT BLEND?!

I would do the "buy kit and repair yourself" thing.
Saved me lots of money in the long haul repairing this kind of stuff myself.
And you can usually find detailed videos showing exactly how to do it. It's usually pretty simple stuff.

make sure you watch the part where the guy uses a hair dryer to melt the sealed edges.. I missed that part and tried to pry my Ipod appart, and shattered the whole thing.

One more reason I hate Apple products. 0% serviceability. I just fixed my HTC incredible screen for $10 and did the work myself in 30 minutes.

For the iphones you can get units that have all the good on them .. digitizer etc... More expensive.. but a whole lot easier than doing all that hairdryer bizness.
You can save alot fixing these things yourself bit it is/can be time consuming... so if you dont have the time I would have someone else do it... Personally I wouldn't mail it anywhere I'm sure theirs some rinky dinky electronic shop that would repair it same day for you local.. check craiglist.
Ive repaired DS's, iphones, ipods all sorts of portable electronics using kits and stuff.

Time for a new one, I'm holding out for the Retina Display mini...

I bought a replacement from apple. I just got tired of pricing and reputation-checking the indy vendors.
Cost me 100 bucks more for peace of mind. Sold!
