Title: UO - It's a hard habit to break
Post by: Catryonna on June 01, 2013, 11:19:26 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm a returning UO veteran - actually I've returned several times - and I'm re-learning many of the ins and outs of the game again.  Every time I take a break and come back to the game something drastic has changed.....

My husband and I originally bought UO for our 7 year old son on his birthday.  See he had been playing the Ultima Series of games and had been telling us about this awesome new online version of the game that just so happened to release 4 days after his 9th birthday.....so being the great parents that we are, we bought it for him as a birthday present.....Needless to say we've all been playing since.  We take breaks, play other games but ultimately always come back to where it all started.  The people are different...the magnificent stories have faded but it is still our game.  Our son is still playing UO, he is 22 now.  Amazing how time flies.

So I was surfing the internet to learn a bit about this whole scripting thing - Carpal tunnel, old age, button clicking itis - When this site came up.  I've been reading posts for quite some time and of all the sites this one seems to have the best community friendly feel.  I've never been much on posting to boards and such, but if I am going to I want it to be somewhere I can get meaningful feedback/advice on my questions, comments, bad humor.

My husband and I play on Napa my son plays on Altlantic - he likes the number of people on the server.  I've only ever played on Napa and can't see myself leaving.  I was a Senior Companion (back in the day of companions and GM's) on Sonoma.  I still have the character in the login screen - although I'm afraid to log her in - she is probably still sitting in the jail where they put us when they fired us all.

I retired from the Air Force in Jan 2011 which should have given me alot of time to focus on my Online Gaming, however I found out I was pregnant jsut before I retired so I know have a 22 year old and a 22 month old.....Imagine our surprise.......I hope UO is still up and running when he gets old enough to play....7 is a good age  :-)

Well enough rambling out of me, I hope to get to know you all better and I look forward to learning about scripting so I can write some of my own code.  Happy Gaming everyone!

Welcome back to the funny farm! It's great to see a fellow Napa Valley player. There are damn few of us left anymore.

It's true, we are a mythical beast - especially those of us who have only played Napa.  I did however talk to a returning vet yesterday...someone stopped me at WBB and was completely mortified that when she placed her house no house key was created.  She didn't know what to do...It was a fun trip down memory lane remembering hey rings and the numerous keys on them.  I still have one or two rings full of keys in my banks.  Of course I may have scared her away with my enthusiastic help....I just wanted to pick her up and squeeze her and call her George!

lol, that's hilarious.  I remember when all those things had keys and also when no house had lockdowns.  Those were fun days were you could hide at someones doorstep and run into their place after they'd unlock the door.  Everything in the house was open to the taking then.  Not that I ever did that, mind.  ;)

Or better yet. Simply kill them and take their key.... :o

*chuckles*  I miss when the resurrection spell had a greater range and you could just resurrect a ghost inside someones locked house steal everything and then recall overloaded....Those were the good ole days.
