Personally I was struck by the use of the word "Howdy" as the subject because it occured to me that it's fairly common. I wonder, if we were to take stock in all of the single-post Heartwood intros what would the percentage breakdown be between Howdy, Hello, Hi, etc. Also, it would be very interesting to look at the personality types of the posters and compare the type verse use of the various subjects to determine if there are connections between the subjects and the poster demographics.
For example, "Howdy" is a little friendlier than, say, "Intro" which is another common subject. However, "Howdy" connotates "Hi, I'm posting this because I have to in order to AFK script Heartwood. Really, though, I am a nice, friendly guy/girl and I truly do hope to participate in the boards a little because I want people to like me and I want to feel like I belong. Unfortunately though, as a result of this need, I have a tendancy to "people-please" in my life and this leaves me constantly overcommitted as I don't know how to say "no" to people. This, in turn, causes me to spiral into feelings of being overwhelmed by life in general which, for me, has manifested as a deep depression that can only be skewed by obsessive "checking out" on video games, television, and Internet porn."
Of course it could also just mean "Howdy".
