I'm amazed at what they've been able to do with the client. EA should be watching these guys since this development has been for free and I think it's also been more inventive than the last attempts at EA.
(the 2 last pics are funny; that's my optical illusion house, but rendered in 3d. ROFL!) so iris2_lexia4.jpg = comparison1.jpg

wow, thats nice.. its not photo shopped?
-
Are there some scripting facilities? :)
-
When I was talking with Hagish (the developer), he was going to be implementing full LUA scripting. Nope, these aren't photoshopped, that's me running around on Lexia. And that's my Dwagin.

wow looks really nice.. though no scripting on those clients either I suppose.

Not easyuo, but they do have built-in LUA. I tried to talk Hagish into doing an EasyUO interpreter, but he didn't go for it. :(
Frankly, I'm more excited to fiddle around with this client than I am with SA.

One other interesting note, the Iris2 client also has a 2D rendering mode. It basically locks the camera into the iso-3d position and renders all the art from the 2D artwork. It's pretty framey, but looks pretty good.
You can get to that mode by running: iris2 -2d

do you know if the OpenEUO would be workable with this kind of client? I'm very impressed with those graphics, but I wonder how smooth it is.

In one of those pics, you can see the FPS. I think it's around 44 or so. I can get over 120 in WoW, so it's a bit slower than I'm used to. But 44 is definitely playable. I ran around for a whole hour without a crash. Last time I did that in Iris, I could only get about 5 minutes in before it would die. Lots of artwork is in also. They've taken a bunch from UO-3D (good because I like the creature renders in that better than the goofy KR stuff).
I doubt OpenEUO will work with it. You'll have to ask the OpenEUO peeps.

I need to go out and see if you can actually do fishing in this client. :)
-
Yup, ships are in there.
The day/night effect is kinda cool. Plus the water moves around. Some of the foliage blows in the wind too like it did in the old UO-TD. Trees are still stationary, but that should be easy to fix with better tree models.

dude uo looks beast as *bleep* in that client

Lol, well the point is when EA is putting out things like KR and SA, this is much better. :)

I want to stalk some spawners in 3d in that client... ohhhh the fun.... Could you imagine going first person dropping through the dropdown into despise... and taking the island in 1st person? Oh the joy... :) I'd still run the 3d client in topdown even if it's sexy in 1st person... mainly for the "tactical" advantage... :/ Sad... I'd do everything else in tram 3d tho. :) How cool would it be to do some real scripting in 3d tho? At least it wouldn't be near as boring cause it would look good. :)
-
Omg i didnt even know there is this kind client. :o
-
I think this client looks better then the new one their making...
-
I love that it's 3d but using the same 2d gumps and artwork for the menus... I wish EA would take a hint or two here.
-
It's funny because the SA client switched and is now using the 2D art for the backpack. However, somehow they screwed it up and it's now very fuzzy. The IRIS2 client makes the pack items look crisp and clear. I'd love to see the EA people ask the IRIS2 developers about how they made their pack items look so good. The EA implementation sucks!!
In the SA client, the runebooks nearly blend into the backpack background. yuck.

I'm downloading it now, I'll give my impressions too! :) I'm sure I'll hate it from all the comments so far, but I'll give it a fair shake. :)

Well, keep in mind that it's a side project from several non-paid programmers. With the last patch, I can't connect to Alexandria anymore.
For a free and different alternative, it's quite impressive.
