I'm creating a site as a 'junction' or hub, for UO related content. A one-stop site for as much UO as one would desire. There are nearly no rules as to what type of UO content that I'd like to share. As it stands, it's very basic in it design, and probably limited in at the moment concering the amount of content. That's all going to change. I need a break from battling with my WT script, so this is what I've been up to. Creating this site, I've learned HTML, XHTML, JavaScript and CSS.
Currently, I'm having one issue with supplying content to the site relating to RSS feeds. On the right side of the page is a drop down list of several UO sites. Selecting one, then pressing the 'View' will result in a list/summary of the 10 recent posts from the selected site. Unfortunately, this isn't working quite yet. Thimotty has been kind enough to offer some help in getting it to work, may actually be php coding of some sort dealing with my host.
Nevertheless, there's a scroll feature in the middle part of the main page that may not be completely compatible with all browsers. I use FireFox and don't have any issues, but IE users I'm sure will. Help will also be welcome there as well.
All in all, if anyone has any ideas for site improvement or questions at all, reply here or at my temporary blog site. Blog (http://trashserver.blogspot.com/?zx=a4b8f1c84bf713cf).

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at superslayer.org.
-
ya, the host is upgrading some things, figures, the time I invite and advertise, they decide to work intermittently.
-
IE could not find the site either?
-
Works for me. Perhaps he's futzing with it? I changed the .htaccess to ScriptUO last night and broke it for a while for everyone. :)
-
Ok, now it's back up. Some config issues.
-
Looks good so far. I like the links looks like some good info there, but will take me some time to go through everything.
-
Thanks, there are a few more links I'm thinking about adding. Were you able to see/use the scroll arrows on the front page?
-
negatory

The arrows work for me; you just don't have to click them. You just hold your mouse over them and the whole left side of the window scrolls.

Are you using IE?
FireFox for you TM?

I can finally view the site. The up/down arrow is nice but doesn't allow me to use my scroll wheel.
The right hand site with the drop down list and View button doesn't work at all for me!
PC Setup:
Windows 7 64-bit
Google Chrome (if you're not using Chrome, you're just not cool)

@J.Kitty, that's really wierd, perhaps a browser configuration on your end? I.E. or Firefox? Opera even?
@OMaddog, the up/down arrow is intentionally not allowing your scroll wheel. I have the frames set so now scrolling is permitted, but really, there's nothing yet to scroll. As for the right hand side w/the drop down menu, it doesn't work at all yet...but almost. My first post here mentions some help needed with getting it to work. It an RSS feed with selectable sites, and I think it may be php related with the host,...some config and setup. Thimotty seems to know a bit and offered assist, but we haven't been too much in contact yet.

I think its probably our firewalls at work (law firms blech). I'll have to remember to try from home.

I think I've come across a solution to the RSS dilemma that I was frazzled with. For the time, I'm going with RSSinclude. It has a really simple HTML generator that can be embedded directly into the web page. So until I learn a bit more, this module will suffice. I'm also planning on putting in a 'comment box' somewhere where visitors can post opinions, suggestions, what's up messages or 'go to hell you cheater/scripter' posts. :o :P
Currently, I'm working with a test site containing a few changes and improvements including extended scrolling capabilities, more sites and links. The changes will probably be uploaded in a few days.
Perhaps after I have this site more to my likings in the next week, I'll get my game back on with my WT script and the Home Roam sub, update some of my other submitted scripts and begin scripting like I had before.
-
Sooner than I had thought, my site is 99.9% functional. The RSS feeds work, a few new scripts and links added. Yet to come is a comment box and I'll prob be starting that over the next several days. Enjoy !

Well, I'm as finished as I want to be with my site. It has a comment/message/guestbook place, scripts, sites and rss feeds. Aside from some aesthetic needs and future changes/inclusions and such, I'm off to resume my World Traveler script working, and Home Roam sub.
Enjoy!
