Awesome, SS! ( I usually use the word Sweet, but someone already beat me to it  -- I don't want to make this a sticky post)   ;D

My mini-prayer for someone to pick up UOAM may have been answered.  this will work great with the World Traveler!

some of the replies in the link show this error also.  If you're running vista || win7 , right-click on the icon and run as administrator.  Maybe that'll help?

Yes, run as admin, and download it to your computer then run as admin.  Don't try to run it from downloading it directly if on Vista/Win 7.

perhaps try clearing your browsers cache, disabling any DL's & accelerators, uninstall and redownload perhaps.  There's another poster with nearly the exact same stuff you posted...they haven't responded since the post.

I'm reading and keeping up with the thread to help you and anyone else w/issues ;D ;)

Sucks to be OMG... :)  Maybe one of us can upload the exe we got to see if maybe cause he's banned it's not downloading correctly...?  That acceptable?  Cause it works PERFECTLY on Win7 and me and Coragin are connected using it on the home shard... I set it up and ran the server, opened a port, ran it all in admin mode, and it's working flawlessly with razor and uoassist... the info is in the private guild scripts thread...

That's a good idea Twinkle McNugget...I'll upload it to my site and OMG can get it there.  I'll post back when it's up.

EDIT:  Program uploaded to my website under "UO Programs." Name of the program is UOCartographer 0.9.
Website is in my siggy :)

I also revised the links section HERE (http://www.scriptuo.com/index.php?action=links;cat=7) to reflect this information.  Looks like the developer has been in some contact with Mythic, so hopefully it won't get a ban-stick.

@ OMGBurgers, here's some troubleshooting tips that various posters at stratics shared:

Quote
Manually check that what it is pointing to in the options is actually where your client files are. Also, if you are using 2D make sure you haven't checked the Use EC option.

It sounds like it can't make the maps for some reason which means it's failing to find the client data.

edit: Another thing you could try if you've had UOAM working in the past is to run UOAM and check where it is pointing and see if it is the same. Make sure you close UOAM afterward though.

Quote
Double and triple check the client paths are correct. Manually verify that the client actually lives where it is pointing as it is possible to have multiple older 2D clients in different places over the years.

If that's not it, make sure you are running UOAssist (launch 2D via UOA) and don't run UOC as admin.

Its a shame it needs either razor or uoassist... I prefer programs wiht no dependancies myself.

I can't even get the program past the splash screen though.

I downloaded the .net 2.0 framework or whatever.  I'm not sure if I'm missing anything else or what.

This was just posted by the developer for the person with the same problem as you're describing..

Quote
Is .Net 2.0 at SP1? I did google this and the answer seemed to be updating .Net 2.0 to SP1 (or better if there is one). It may be a separate SP from the XP SP3 thing.

The developer posted this link to update .Net 2.0 :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5B2C0358-915B-4EB5-9B1D-10E506DA9D0F

After this point, I'd delete the UOC executable, close anything UO related, do the .Net update, restart comp, then dl the UOC again and install.

Aww man!  Stop bragging my guild will be so jealous! haha.

I'm not sure if you should upgrade.  I can't see what the updated version offers :/

My old vent/map server computer died.  I'm trying to reformat/reinstall windows but I'm having no luck.  It looks like I'm just going to order a new pc to replace this one, and make this one the new macro pc haha.

You can jump on it OMG but I'd prefer that only people with access to the private guild section that are participating in guild stuff with us on the home shard have the info. :)

It's all good :)

I just ordered the PC haha.

I love this new map though it just seems to run so much better.  It looks so great too I love how it shows hills & all.  Everyone in my guild loves it also and has no objection running map again when we pvp lol.  So now I need to get us our server back up haha.

Yea 5 or 6 people on last night, and it ran fine.  Not one issue... I do have a quadcore phenom II black edition cpu tho... with 6 gigs of ram... that always helps. :)

New version up today, here's the release notes.

Updates
0.9.6.3 Nov 25:
+ Fix for installer on Vista/Win7, runs as admin by default
+ Fix for rectangular windows showing edges
+ Fix for window going off screen and saving that position
+ Fix for obscure invalid facet bug (needs more testing)
+ Fix for personal .map files crashing, maybe (needs more testing)
+ Can now edit and delete markers from within UOC
+ Adjustments to client/server protocol. New clients will work with older servers. New server will *NOT* work with older clients

Anyone figure out how to get server lines to show? I don't see an option. Also, my "Advanced Options" are disabled for some reason, is that by design at the moment? I tried working through the thread but there is so much Stratics-wheeny crap there that it makes me want to turn to the knife.

I also want to figure out the TMap location piece, I'll work on that later though after other's make some progress lol.

Good stuff Superslayer, thanks for bringing this to our attention! Since I never go over to Stratics it would have been a long time before I heard about it otherwise and I'm liking it a lot so far.

X

Your very welcome 12x, I realize that alot of users here don't venture to stratics for a multitude of reasons and that's all good.  I've got a good rep over there with lots of people, especially the crew in the Rares forum, so sharing information is something I like doing with all people.

As for the serverlines, I don't think they're implimented completely, or at least implimented correctly.  There's an .xml file located in the install dir that holds the variable for server lines to show or not.  I've turned it off and on with no difference in the map display, but that doesn't mean that it completely doesn't work.  I'll play around with it more tomorrow when I get home from work.

I host a UOC server from my main computer while playing UO and everything else even LoL! I have no problems running the server or the client versions on my PC (My PC: http://sites.google.com/site/ultimaonlinesite/new-computer ) UOC is FAR superior to UOAM and no one in my guild has had any problems other than a few idiots that can't click "Run as Admin" and people who can't type the right number in the Port box LoL!

OK, Wow!  What a great addition to the UO tools community.

My hats off to Kiwillian.  Too bad this will never get official approval from EA.  At least they won't take action against users of this fabulous tool.

This gets the ScriptUO seal of approval.  ;)

Yea it's been amazing.  I have it running 24/7 and don't ever notice it even with 5 or 6 people on it.  Good stuff.  Oh yea, plus you can throw all your old map files in the UOC dir and they just work.  Love that. :)

Someone mentioned that they were creating 'Special Maps' for UOC and that we should upload them somewhere.  I would like to see a map done of all the new SA Stealables marked with the name and artifact level.  Running around the Abyss sometimes I get lost and dis-oriented.

getting my guild to move might be an issue as some of them aren't the sharpest crayons in the box.

I had this same issue...Apparently when I tell people port 8246, they think 8245 is acceptable. People who have used Vista for years and/or Windows 7 still don't understand that you have to pretty much go to Compatability->Run As Adminstrator anytime you want to install or run a program. And people also don't understand what the "Connect..." option does! OMG IT CONNECTS YOU TO THE UOC SERVER!! WHO WOULD'VE THUNK IT!

Stupid people....they annoy me

You guys know they've updated a few times too right?  If you're playing with an older version go upgrade. :)  Newer clients are backwards compatible with server, but older clients are NOT with new server... just so you know.

Ok, so I have an old Dell desktop (Dimension 4300) with: P4, 2GB, 120GB HDD
I installed FreeNAS on it and have it wired directly into my router (Dell Dimensions are nice and quiet so you can barely even hear it sitting in the corner of our living room LoL). I am wondering if there is any way to install UOCart. on it so that I don't have to host it on my computer anymore! FreeNAS is really just a tiny Unix kernel with a WebGUI so I'm betting it might not be possible, but if it was, that'd be awesome!

Let me know if you have any ideas!

Probably not.  UOCartographer is a .NET joint.  I doubt seriously you could run it with Mono.
