The devs mentioned that they are considering allowing faction fighting in Trammel. What are your thoughts on this?
-
Against. Heres why. Unless they allow Reds in Tram your guild is hindered if you are doing something in Tram or get attacked. Geifers will stay in Tram and look for people, knowing the Reds cant come there to assist.

I agree with your statement.

I would have to leave the faction. Way too easy to get griefed in Trammel. Other players killing me while I'm minding my own business is why I quit UO originally back in 1999. If I'm ready for a fight, fine. If you jump me while I'm tending plants, what's the point in that?
:)

Although if they made it so there were "Arenas" where you know you can be attacked in Tram, thats fine.
Arenas Like
Champ spawn areas.
Peerless Dungeons
SL houses
CoM Houses
Min Houses
NOT TB Houses...

I knew I should have checked that box! :D
I agree with everything said above. Some other key points to make are EM events. How could you hold an event in trammel if everyone is fighting?
Another interesting question, if you allowed pvp in trammel under factions, would you also have to allow powerscrolls since its the same risk? :D
-
Hmm...powerscrolls in trammel...hmmm...that might make the PITA worth it.
*might*

Could you imagine if they added a risk vs reward system to power scrolls. Let's say this for example:
You make a new type of power scroll...we'll call them powerskillzzz scrolls :D. They will obviously be account bound.
Let's say you have a skill such as taming, and it's at 100. You find a 120 powerskillzzz scroll. What if when you clicked the power scroll you had a 50/50 chance of either getting +20 skill gain or -100 skill loss.
How happy would that make you if your taming jumped from 100 to 120 from a scroll?
How sad would you be if it dropped from 100 to 0 in the blink of an eye?
haha

Just not a idea that would fly with the masses why not just fix things that are broken and have been broken for years. Revamp the faction systems so people want to play it more often also.
-
Humm... I just like being able to do some things in peace without changing characters to a non faction one in tram sometimes... like meet someone at a bank quick for a trade or to buy something then go right back to fel. Those types of things would become quite a hassle but if it stopped trammies from point farming and wearing stuff on crafters etc... only tram side pvm, i guess I could go along with it. As of now though, I say no thx. The projected fix in the future will stop most trammers from doing that by eliminating folks that do not participate in pvp from wearing stuff. Now if that means they can kill a point mule in the middle of no where and ruin back to fel... well that will just suck and make points go too hig all over again.

I searched quickly for the "I don't care." selection. Bummer....

I think they just need to make some easy changes to factions.
#1. Stat loss = 2-5 minutes tops. It is both not fun and a waste of their servers to make it 20 minutes! It's 20 minutes that causes you to get up and walk away from the game and possibly not come back, YET you're still taking up valuable server space because you have to keep your character logged in!!
#2. Have a system to get out of stat loss early! Such as, if you get the killshot on the person who put you in stat, you're out of stat! This is good because it will be a challenge since you're currently IN stat trying to kill someone who probably ISN'T (although they might be). It would only be valid against the latest player to put you in stat (i.e. if Joe puts you in stat, then while in stat Dave kills you and "re-stats" you, then only killing DAVE will get you out of stat). Yes there are some flaws to this, but I think it's still a good idea!
#3. Change the way faction points work. Each point = a rank, therefore, as long as you have 10 points you have rank 10! Now, faction points can be earned different ways: #1 You only get 1 point for killing a person unless they're a faction commander, sheriff, or finance minister (then 2 points). Each town that a faction owns is worth a point to every player in that faction (so you could have 5 kill points + 3 points for owning 3 towns = rank 8). Each time you are killed, you lose 1 point IF that person has not killed you in the past 5 minutes (to account for rez kills), and they GAIN your 1 point (or 2 if you're holding an office: sheriff, minister, commander). You can have more than 10 points (cap of something, maybe 25, maybe 100). Also, your rank updates each time you get a kill/are killed. So if you get a killshot and achieve rank 10, it'll give you a message saying YOU HAVE ACHIEVED RANK 10 or something like that. Same for when you die, then you could potentially lose your rank and not be able to equip stuff.
Feel free to shout out your opinions on this!
