Is anyone else watching this show? Zina the warrior princenes at 50 and still on my list!
Alright back to the grind at work....
-
I have to agree, LL looks pretty good nekkid. I think there is a threshhold to getting into the show. The first episode has the same "can't decide between cartoon and epic movie" that the movie 300 had and I didn't care for it. The second episode was sort of flat. With the Third episode it really starts to get good. My qualifiers would be that it's sort of a Gladiator rip-off, it's wear-your-face-for-a-mask violent and very sexually explicit. The acting is actually quiet good, but I probably won't watch it with my Mom. My mother in law, however, did get hooked after she complained through episode three folding a basket of laundry whilst I fed the baby and watched gladiators carving each other up. If my qualifiers are potentially good qualities for you as they are for me, then you will enjoy it. I am glad I kept watching, its a good one.

I'm addicted to it. Very solid twists in the story lines. It's like a mix of Gladiator/300/Sin City, but it's been more Gladiator the last few episodes (which it should be obviously). It's very good though.
Guilty: I'm also a Lucy Lawless fan from Xena and Battlestar Galactica, so it's sweet to see her get another juicy role.
The series is on hold though because the star Andy Whitfield has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and is scheduled to begin treatment immediately. That news came out 2 weeks ago.
-
Season one is already in the can, so there are four more episodes before they run out for the year. They are delaying start of season two. Whitfield should be fine.
-
What else has Whitfield been in? Well I'm not big on new shows but this is first one since the Dukes of Hazzard that I can't wait for the next one :).
-
really just Australian TV.
-
LOL no Aussie TV but about 25yrs ago I'd skip school to see Dukes... Now I TIVO Spartacus and watch it when the daughters go to bed.
-
SOB did this series already start? I'll have to torrent it now.... damnit.
-
You really do Kham. Its pretty great.
-
Lol 25 years to be "into" another series since Dukes of Hazzard... :p
You don't hear that every day!
Yeah I knew season one was already completed Paul. They were supposed to start working on season two in April. So season two should be delayed some.

I had set Spartacus to record on my DVR when it started airing but never got around to watching it. Well finally last night while cooking dinner I had the TV turned on an Episode 'W' was on and I said what the hell I'll watch a little bit.
Absolutely unbelievable! I think this is the raunchiest series I've ever seen or heard. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears as to what I was hearing!
I ain't complaining. The women are hot and wild! That friggin' slave girl brunette that was throwing herself at Sparatucus is a bombshell!
Needless to say I deleted all my soft porn on my DVR to make room for more Spartacus!
-
Heh, it is some pretty crude stuff they say in there. It kind of reminds me of the guys in my vent busting on each other, since we're a crude bunch. If you just caught the last episode, then you got one of the toned down eps (fight-wise).
You're not the Ultima that used to have the big vendor setup on GL are you?
-
That was the most soft-porn episode U. Some of them have been full go violence with no "raunch", but most have been a mix with equal parts face-breaking and ugly bumping.
-
Ultima, watch them all besides the soft porn aspect it really is well written and acted. Oh and the fights are real good...
-
It was good and I think I will watch the whole series now. The cinematography looked good and the dialogue was good. I have to admit I was blindsided even though they made it a point to declare "Viewer Discretion is advised".
I'll watch it again just to catch another glimpse of that slave girl. I'm gonna have to IMDB her and find out who she is! I'm a fan. 8)
But it looked like Sparatcus was gearing up to face someone in the arena and it looked to be a good match up. I give it a thumbs up so far.
You're not the Ultima that used to have the big vendor setup on GL are you?
Not me Wilk! Never made it over to GL even though I've done some inter shard travelling. I consider myself from Sonoma even though I don't play on that shard anymore Sonoma that is where I have the best memories of UO. It's interesting how each shard has it's own unique feel I would like to have made it over to GL to see what it's like but never made the journey.

The "slave girl" that slept on his floor made her debut in that episode, so don't get your hopes up for her in older episodes.
The series just started, but it's amazing how different Spartacus' stature is in the episode you just watched, compared to where he was in episode one. You'll enjoy the irony of the "soft porn" scene more when you go back and see the relationship the two had leading up to that point.
-
Holy crap, the last episode was powerful. I have not been so moved by a fictional tradgedy since I was 12 and I thought Gandolf had died in the Mines of Moria. The intensity of the Sparticus character is at the level of William Munny when he finds out that Little Bill killed Ned and put him on display in front of Greeley's Bar (Sp?) -- except that they have had ten hours to develop the plot instead of one.
-
The series is on hold though because the star Andy Whitfield has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and is scheduled to begin treatment immediately. That news came out 2 weeks ago.
"In June 2010 it was announced that Whitfield completely finished with his treatment, has a clean bill of health and is expected to be back on the set of Spartacus: Blood and Sand by October."
Okay I just finished watching the episodes I had stored on my DVR.
Thanks to Katrina Law I am a fan and look forward to season 2. With this much sex and violence how one not like it?
I haven't watched some of the more recent horror movies to come out lately but I have to say I don't think I have EVER seen anything as graphic as this series has been. The battles are brutal!
Overall though it's just good! Two thumbs up! Can't wait for season two!
-
There is a prequel coming out this Fall, which I think they put into production when they found out Whitfield had cancer. I imagine very few of the characters survive.
-
Whitfield will only have a cameo in that series.
It's supposed to feature Crazy Lila from Dexter (she was Dexter's nut job addiction sponsor). I liked here. Should be a sweet filler before season 2 kicks in. Lucy Lawless and her husband will be in the series also.
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena is the series name. It will only be 6 episodes, and comes out in January.
