Title: Swing speed cal. Dex or stamina based?
Post by: baldielocks on June 09, 2010, 05:01:27 PM
Doing some research to maximize sampurai. On stratics, I found on the http://uo.stratics.com/content/arms-armor/arms.php (http://uo.stratics.com/content/arms-armor/arms.php) that they use dex in the cal. However, on http://uo.stratics.com/content/arms-armor/combat.php (http://uo.stratics.com/content/arms-armor/combat.php), they say the official formula is stamina.

I hate posting there, any idea o scripto-loticusi (plural form)?

I built my own spreadsheet, which I just learned I can't upload here.

This is the relevant equation:

=INT((A2-A5)*(100))/((1+A7)*100)

Spreadsheet Key:
A1; Input your Base weapon speed
a2; =A1/0.25  (Base Swing Ticks)
a3; [blank line]
a4; Input your Stamina
a5; =INT(A4/30) (Bonus Swing Ticks)
a6; [blank line]
a7; Input your SSI percentage
a8; [blank line]
a9; =INT((A2-A5)*(100))/((1+A7)*100)  (Swing Speed Calculation)
a10; =(A9*0.25)  <-----actual swing speed is now found here.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

 :)

EDIT: Here's a screenshot to make more sense of the above.

Below, I've embedded the spreadsheet in a word doc, so I can upload it.

WARNING:  You should never open documents from sources you don't trust.  Theoretically, this could be a bit of malware to steal from you.  It's not, but it could be if I was less scrupulous.

EDIT: Foiled again!  The embed process just saved the numeric values, not the equations.  Cut and paste what I have above into excel, mate.

(.doc removed)

thanks nobama. i notice your formula uses stamina as well vice dex. I will try to make a stam suit and see if there is a perceptible speed diff.

Obviously it's stamina that's used in swing speed.

Your dex might be 150 and you swing like a mad man. You get smacked around pretty good and your dex is still 150 yet your stamina is now around 40. You notice your swinging rate has slowed dramatically.

Yep.  Stamina is the key.  It's the 13th ****ing step.

(Listened to Dennis Leary, can you tell?)

thanks for the quick replies!. confirms my thinking. just odd that (not really  ;) ) that stratics would have it different in two places.

As you said: Not really.  Stratics has a great deal of wrong/out dated info.

as reference, I (in another incarnation) also made a very similar chart on another forum. I do a LOT of research, and used to do a LOT of posting on there. Wrote over 50 very lengthy posts on various subjects. I really enjoy having a forum to retreat to to bounce things off of other knowledgable players. But please dont gain the impression that I have not researched my questions before hand, or am new. I revel in the luxury of having someone to bounce things off of when I can!
