I have been playing MMOs for about 7 years and decided to join a few friends that have been playing UO since it started 11 years ago.  I have only been playing about 6 months but I really like writing code and scripting.

Outstanding!  Welcome to the site.  I am sure that you will find it very helpful here.  THere are a lot of peeps that like to talk uo and code so you will be supported.

Where is a good place to start to learn how to script in UO?

I have already downloaded the ScriptUO tool.

Really, the easiest way to learn to script is to keep close tabs on EasyUO and their Wiki for questions about syntax.  But when it comes to actually scripting, nothing beats taking an existing script and trying to understand it line-by-line.  Also there's some great tutorials out there.

There's lots of tips and tricks found here, at WinUO and EasyUO so you should always keep an eye on the forums because there are many great scripters out there who do share their wisdom.

Finally, if you do script in ScriptUO, I have included EasyUO Wiki help so if you have a question about general command syntax, you can easily call up the right information.

http://wiki.easyuo.com should become your close friend :)

Start small with things like casting spells or speaking and go from there.
