yea, I spent quite a bit of time on my resume and am very proud of it. I was recently at a kinkos, or ups store using their printers to print up a few and this young kid, like 18 years old, was printing up his.  he left a couple copies on the printer, i curiously looked over one and was amazed how bad it was.  I almost went out after him to give him some help but he was gone.  At least spell check and read over it once, jeez.

For what its worth, I have read hundreds and hundred of resumes over the years and I edit lots of them. If anyone wants me to edit a resume, I am always happy to help.

... and I promise I won't start a thread making fun of it.

I can type 29 words a minute from home, and am familiar with the Office and the Interwebs stuff. I often prepare beverages!

Dude - I'm a perfect fit!!

Ha. You are hired too. Your unpaid position is to drink beer and type slowly from home.

Seriously though, the typing one cracked me up as much as any of the others.  I was looking through all of these resumes from women who can type like a house on fire, 75, 95, 125 words per minute and then I see one that says 29.  Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I jumped on "the Google", found a typing test and scored 60wpm, minus two for errors.  http://www.typingtest.com/

From Brandy B: I am trying to imagine the interview. I predict lots of smiles, maybe a little uncomfortable. Her resume is not great, but she seems so nice I feel more guilty than usual not bringing her in:

. I'm always enthusiastic, very easy to get along with, goal oriented, extremely professional, takes every task above & beyond with a smile on my face type of girl. I would love to be able to set up an interview with you so you can see so for yourself.

I would have to call this one in an interview her if nothing else but to meet here and test her :) LOL

There is something very porn about it that has me tempted -- and just a stream of conscious association to that thought, I noticed that there were 8 Brandy's in this sample of about 85 resumes.  Makes me wonder if there has been any study on whether if you name your daughter Brandy and she doesn't end up on a pole, is the other option admin?

I just used The Google again.  This time I checked out the website for the bar that my lesson in bartending came from.  She has some decent experience and I was on the fence about interviewing her, but now I think I have to.

It's absolutely Brutal out there when trying to find an employment. Those of you with real full time jobs be thankful.

If you haven't been in the situation where times get tough people just don't get it. I went from owning my own business to not being able to get a job doing dishes. The icing on the cake was I was unable to collect unemployment because I didn't put myself on the payroll. My business was struggling so I made the decision to sacrifice and not pay myself unless I absolutely needed to in the form of a draw. Anyways...I can't even find a job working as many hours for the same amount of pay as I had people working for me.

Paul I may take you up on that resume critique! It can't hurt my cause and my pride has been temporarily tossed out the window.

It also gets tough afterawhile looking for so long and not getting any responses to resumes. Then you get an occassional an interview and don't get the job. It can wear on you after so long.

People who haven't been in a similiar situation don't understand. Right now business is still hurting and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel in terms of growth.

Be nice ya'll. It's effin' Brutal out there!

I hear you Ultima.  While I started this thread to poke fun at gaffe's in some of the resumes I am looking at, I have nothing but respect for people out there looking for work, and I mean no disprespect by it.

@ Mass, I knew them well.  The big metal letter covered ball that would spin and whack an ink ribbon against the paper.  The nicer ones had a correction ribbon.  I used to type faster than I do now.  I took the bar exam on a typewriter.  My hand writing is so bad if I had written it with a pen I would still be a paralegal.

Proficient with 'The Google'?  Snap that one up...she's a keeper.

I'm not sure which is funnier: The actual resume lines or Paul's snark.  'Bridge with my grandmother', indeed.
